Updating on Vista
« on: October 08, 2008, 10:15:40 pm »
For all you Vista users, If youre having problems with the Updater let me give you a short and sweet solution.

First off, Open up "updaterinfo.xml" in the Planeshift folder and change <config active="false"> TO <config active="true"> and Save!

Secondly, go to http://connect.creativelabs.com/developer/Wiki/OpenAL%20Installer%20for%20Windows.aspx and download the OpenAL32.dll Installer.

Thirdly, Run the Installer for OpenAL32.dll (Assuming youre on Vista and dont have this driver).

Last but not least, Remove "psupdater.exe" from the Planeshift folder, and get the patched Updater from http://www.psmirror.org/psupdaterwin32.zip

Unzip this Patched Updater in your Planeshift Folder.

Rrun the "psupdater.exe" and it SHOULD work now!  ;D

I realize these solutions are on the forums in fragments, but I wanted to give a compiled, shortened answer for the suffering Vista users like myself!  :@#\

Over n Out

PLEASE search before giving advice  also remember not all posts you read are correct, look for once made by staff members

Then i had to get Openal32.dll
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/openal32.zip?0VEfRBYHfT

you DO NOT need to download this dll from anyone other then the updater when you run it.

This post was the one thing that actually helped me after getting Vista. I wouldn't complain.

Whell i have Vista 64-bit and i just changed the xml file as the devs said, and it worked right away. Its only got to do in how you setup your machine, and if you bother to keep it updated...
