Three questions about armour, commands for levels, and glyphs
« on: November 01, 2008, 09:12:26 pm »
Sorry, I have three more questions that I can't find answers to by searching the forums. First, does armour (like chest armour) actually add protection or is it just for looks. I'm not talking about the shields and stuff you need training for. Second, I started the game with a level 2 in swords. So when I attack is that automatically reflected in my moves or do I have to execute some certain commands? Third, is it true that glyphs can just appear in the forest on rocks, animals, or trees?

Thank you again.

1. Armour (light=leather, medium=chain mail, heavy=plated mail) provides protection but needs to be trained as well. The reason for this is that when you first put your armour on, you aren't used to it yet and don't know how to deflect attacks with it best. Especially in the case of heavier (medium or heavy) armor, it makes it harder to move (although every armour type has this disadvantage).

2. The only thing you *need* to do is target and then select one of the stances (bloody, aggressive, normal...). And be careful not to be killed (running away is a wise decision sometimes) :P. And to take advantage of your sword skills, you just need to have a sword (or two swords) equipped.

3. Glyphs are a gift from the god Talad, so I can imagine they may appear on such places. Never found one myself though, someone must have got there ahead of me  ;D

That's the theory.  Armor is very unrealistic in this game.

Armor does NOTHING for you if you don't have the skill for it.  If you're wearing the best armor in the world, but you don't have skill in it, you take full damage.  If you're able to dodge every single attack when you're wearing heavy armor, you'll be hit every single time if you're wearing light armor (unless you have equal skill in it).

Yes, but shields don't protect you even if you have the skill (e.g. from char creation). Or has this changed already?
