wow ok first lemme say this there are no lvls! there is no HIGH LVL attacking a low lvl to grief. You dont scroll your mouse over them and see their lvl and say oh im going to own. the only visual that someone is lower lvl than you is their armor, and since its full loot i would imagine most wont put on their best gear just to run around pk'ing and killing mobs.. a smart person would save it for raids/sieges/wars.
ok lemme make this simple and do what you guys did.
fps is a big one. first person shooter. if you swing your sword whatever is in its path gets hit.
Done in Age of Conan.
This isnt, Press button one and look at them, Think of pressing down your mouse and timing the swings to hit. AOC did do it, but we wont get into how bad the game failed.
a concept of an mmo thats skill based. not depended on how long you grind or what gear you have.
So a newbie can kick an oldbie's rear if he has better RL reflexes?
Not easily, but if you go head to head with someone the with the same skills as you, Your actual pvp skills will determine the fight. For example in Wow a lvl 70 goes against the same class at same lvl. the one who farmed 6 months for the epic gear will 9 times out of 10 win versus the guy who farmed for 1 month on gear.
a sandbox world. no instances or zones. no parallel lvling zones that you never return to as you lvl.
cities you build as a clan, complete with npcs. basically everything you get with a traditional mmo city, but it is player run, and cant be taken just as quickly.
Star Wars galaxies has this. Age of Conan has the latter and a bit of the former.[/quote
Im not sure but are they actual ran towns, with merchants banks guards and such?
player ran economy/rules.
EVE Online, Star Wars Galaxies, probably some others have player economies.
economies yes... but rules?
Wow? You know I was talking about screenshots, right? You know, those pictures taken ingame that show what the game looks like while you're playing it? Those...internet photos? I'm sure you get the idea by now. >.>
Now, the game WoW, is pretty colorful. I don't like the cartoony graphics that much, but places like Elwynn Forest always keep me hooked. I never liked Shattrath that much, so if I could compare Darkfall to anything, it would be like a giant Shattrath, because the color scheme of it in general is so very dull.
i guess if bright colors is what brings you to a game then you got me. the game is dark and gloomy, but it is also designed to run on some of the worst computers in low graphics mode, but still have all the effects they intended such as "a dwarf can hide in the tall wheat grass and not be seen, whether he was in high performance mode or high quality mode. that and wow appeals to young kids fully while this game is ment to be midevil and dark.
Also, Aion, along with stunning graphics and colorful appeal, is NOT another grind-fest. It's one of the very few games that doesn't believe it's going to be the "next WoW", but instead it takes snippets of different games and improves on them. Aion's max level is 50, and the leveling pace is about the same as WoW's, so before you call a game that you don't know anything about a "typical Korean grindfest", you should look into it some more.
you seem to have formed an opinion based on other mmo's. The company has never intended to be the next WoW and to see the game they are making vs. the games blizzard only goes to show they want nothing to do with WoW. be nothing like it. and by solely not budging on the fact that there will be FFA pvp and Full loot shows they are only targeting a "target audience". so that was just silly.
also have you neve rplayed wow? wow is just a grindfest. grind to get max lvl, grind to get best gear, go pvp for about a month or so doing the same bg's over and over, or go gank, then wait till next update to grind somemore.
fps is a big one. first person shooter. if you swing your sword whatever is in its path gets hit.
Ever heard of RYL?
no i hadnt i just looked it up. thank you for finding an fps korean grind game.
a concept of an mmo thats skill based. not depended on how long you grind or what gear you have.
Takes skill to get the gear, as long as it isn't carebear.
do you understand by skill based i mean, there are no levels? you gain skills like everytime you swing a sword the skill will raise.
a sandbox world. no instances or zones. no parallel lvling zones that you never return to as you lvl.
So you can spawn and right away get smacked down by a creature with a Godly level compared to yours? Yeah, don't think so. Definitely doesn't sound appealing to new players - which on that note, this game is just coming out - so everyone will be new.
spoken like a true carebear. sadly no, the start city is very safe. their are guards (you know guards that actually interact) to protect. of course these guards can be killed so one day you might start a game and the battle is raging. otherwise becareful where you bind. dont bind somewhere you might be scared to respawn. not appealing to new players? if you hear anything about this game you hear that it is FFA PvP and full loot. if you join the game and like 'OMG i just got killed and robbed thats bs i quit" then your a moron.
cities you build as a clan, complete with npcs. basically everything you get with a traditional mmo city, but it is player run, and cant be taken just as quickly.
What's the point of that again? Judging by the amount of little kids who want their own clans, I'd say these "cities" will HAVE to be instanced, or else that game will be ridiculously choppy with how much space is taken up.
this is a good question i can answer nicely. there is no world auction. if you want sell things you either do it in your city or stand outside somewhere. only difference is you have a bit more protection in your own city. and when someone finds out a great crafter is in Guild A in his city people will travel there. it will create caravans and a more extensive controlled economy by players. and the world is seamless, no instances, once again the game was made to work well on high and low end computers.
i have yet to see an mmo that combines mainland gaming with a naval aspect.
It seems almost impossible that this feature will live up to what it says, but the idea itself does seem to be "revolutionary".
explain impossible? there are many islands in the game where you can build your city. you use the boats as a merchant or a pirate or transportation. the fact is there will be reason to use the boats. man just think if there was a river in Yliakum that ran thru all the cities and a boat was 50% faster than running. ya that would ridiculous? come one now think about it.
player ran economy/rules.
Inflation, trickery, and overall retardation. Unless there's some set basis, leaving this in the hands of the players will result in complete hell, I assure you.
inflation? ok guild A has a sword for 10gold and guild b has the same sword. He would raise the price? trickery... sure but thats your fault. would you like the game to say "hey man that swords not worth that dont buy it". no wonder you play korean mmo's.
there are over 500 skills and spells
Wait, what do you mean by skill-based? This sounds like buttonmashing.
rofl ya you mash a combination of 500 skills. or do the wow approach and just spam the 2 best. the other 498 are there for looks. by skills i mean in the sense of PS. Sword swinging skill, light armor skill, dagger skill... etc. To cast magic you dont press number 4 you pull out the scroll with the spell on it, aim it at the person and cast it.
basically what sets it aside is the fps style true mmo. no more target nearest enemy hit attack 1 or attack 2 you must aim, and if anyones around you they will get hit also.
Once again, RYL. Look it up and play it - it's free, and has much better graphics than this. You'll find most of what you just mentioned in that game alone.
this game is another korean grind game. fastest lvlers are the ones that pay real money, skills/weapons... resources you can all buy stuff to help you. so this game has no full loot, no ffa pvp, no skill based system, its levels. no naval ships. oh did i mention darkfall has hovercrafts too? darkfall is seamless and the best gear is player crafted.
ONCE AGAIN this game is FFA PVP full loot. there is no game like that. and that is what is setting this game apart.
i am only showing a game that when people rp and feel ultimately their opponents life is in their opponents hands... when a player is griefing you, or just doing alot of talk with no backup. this game cures that. its for the hardcore gamer who wants more excitement than... killing X amount of mobs till you get X lvl so you can get X skill and farm for X armor then decide to go pvp with no fear of consequences. seriously in mmo's today there is no real consequences for dying so people are in a monotone grind forever. i mean theirs things like the death realm but really tahts just aggravating. an extra 10 minutes to get back to where you were.
and shaman... theres life outside of free korean grind games. everyone knows all good mmo's are Pay to play. ps is free but its no where near mmo's you pay for...
