Your favorite / commands
« on: November 16, 2008, 05:46:44 pm »
Weltall and I were discussing the default commands and considering expanding the default set to include some others.

We decided we should see how players are using them today as a launching point for such an expansion.

Having played some recent mmos I think that this feature is something nice we have going and most players don't discover how flexible the commands in PS are for a long time . . .

So post some of your favorite shortcut commands here, things you think most players would find useful.

I'd like to see something simplified:
instead of 50+ /hug, /stare, /[emote] commands, can we just have one, single /emote:[action] command?
/emote:[help] for a list of valid ones.

(sans brackets, just using them to indicate a placeholder)

or even an adaptation of / me?
/ me:waves
* Kieve waves to everyone present *

*In case anyone asks, I would at some point like to attach animations to these emotes - I don't object to using '/me' and '/my' for RP actions, but keeping a system-command would make it easier to attach the proper hooks for anim. cues.*

'/me' and '/my'

These^

Other emotes aren't specific enough to be used how I want them, and that possibly goes for other people as well. Like if you're using the emote to raise a drink in the air and gulp it down, /me makes it more specific and you could say something in-between raising the drink and...gulping it down. :P

Instead of using individual commands for /dig i have one shortcut with the command for everything there is to dig (that i know of).  It's much easier than making one shortcut for each ore, or simply typing the command every time.  I also have shortcuts for /target next player and /target next npc, those are really useful for combat stuff.  Another favorite is a shortcut for /assist $target, and also one for /target next item followed by /pickup.
Censorship FTW.

Hey, that's pretty clever. Thanks for the idea.

I use that for prospecting, for casual digging all the excess error messages annoy me.
If you have 10 things in the list and the thing you are actually digging is in the 5th place you will get 4 "find nowhere to dig" messages a "you start to dig" message and then 5 "you are busy" red system messages. If that doesn't bother you then, fine. It does bother me though. :)

My most commonly used one is my pickup macro as described by vannaka I also have an apple and a fish macro for disposing of stacks of these items /equip 1 fish, /use 1 apple, beats leaving them in a furnace and selling them is not always convenient.

/loot /clear is a good macro for pulling up the loot box and deselecting the corpse though it would be better if I could /loot [all|weapons|cash|{loot type}] and not have to bother with the loot box at all. As it is I still have to manually loot as well as closing the box if I do not loot everything.
