Message for items received from NPC

When you receive items from an NPC, such as at the completion of a
quest, it would be useful to have some kind of message indicating what
item(s) have been added to your inventory. This should be similar to
the messages for when one loots or picks up items.

Actually such a message is sent and can be read in the System tab of your chatbox.

thanks for the response. Are you sure that quest items are posted in the system tab?
I recently completed the "Oh shining crystal" quest and am almost positive I did not get
a message regarding the item I received. Unfortunately, the server timed out on me so
I had to relog so I cannot review my system tab to confirm this with 100% certainty.

I am more than happy to be wrong on this one but this is not the first time I have had
to hunt through my inventory for new items and I do check both the main and system tabs
in the chat.

I am sure, yes. And that was the case with the 'Oh Shining Crystal' quest last time I checked. Whatever, if you find a quest for which no message appears in your system tab when your char receives an item, don't hesitate to make an entry in the bug tracker (might be bugs sometimes...). Thanks.

When the communication with the server is slow (or gone), messages may not arrive. Since the inventory is stored on the server, it might even be that you never say the item in the inventory until after the connection was restored.
