psclient crashes

I have recently downloaded planeshift, and installed it.  Whenever I try to start it, an error message comes up that says the application failed to load and that maybe reinstalling the application will help.  I have reinstalled planeshift numerous times, and have even redownloaded the installer.  Can someone please tell me what the problem is?

did you try searching the forum or reading the stickies before making your post? did you think that maybe posting about your system might help as well?

I did search the forum, and found the thread about the error codes.  There is no error code, and anything that has "ps" in it's name fails to run.  I tried running the updater from Command Prompt like the instructions stated, but it could not initilize the application.  I downloaded version 0.4.02 and version 0.4.01 and both times the same errors appear.  My computer is Windows XP Service Pack 3, 512 MB RAM, 2 GHZ processor, AMD sempron.
