This place was far less silly while you were gone, the silliness subsided gradually but not completely.
I do hope you haven't tired of being here yet, the silliness quotient has been rising since your return.
I'm just afraid it will reach a stage as it did before and get quashed.

Silliness is not always all it is cracked up to be, and some people prefer that seriousness prevail.
Not every comment is meant to be a challenge that must be defeated. Often it is just imprecise wording that makes it seem so.

I think I have changed my mind on this. Maybe we should try to be mature here so that the people who are thinking of playing this game might not be turned off by an immature crowd and not bother. We should be inviting to everyone including the ones that look at this forum to see what this game it like.

That's not the full story, obviously.  You've been banned a few times as well, for flame baiting, going off topic, etc.

People arguing over opinions can definitely hurt a forum's culture if people aren't willing to learn from others and approach discussions with an open mind and heart.  When people aren't willing to admit they're wrong about something, it's bad for everyone.

But flame baiting and personal attacks are in a different category.  Sometimes, people make posts with no intent other than to cause trouble and to offend people.  I consider posts such as those to be problems, and the people who make them are problem posters.

It's good that you believe in civility.  We should get along just dandy if we can remind ourselves of all we have in common.

Indeed I have had comments removed and received the odd warning but I have never been banned. I made that post here because it was more on topic in this thread than in the couple threads that prompted it. It was meant as friendly advice although it is not my place to say anything.

Anyway take it as you will, I'll try not to offer it again.

Don't worry Prolix, I don't think you need to clarify your motives to anyone reading your posts.  Since we have so much in common, I never suspected you of being "unfriendly".
