Is this how it is going to be ... out of control gms randomly harassing the users, teleporting them willy nilly changing their form on a whim? I'm getting pretty pissed off.

I think you might be confused about the nature of the new server.  To quote your posts in some other threads:

"One thing I am wondering about is will the new server use the same in-game message boards, new ones or not have them allowed at all. Will it have its own forum section?" - Prolix

"Maybe one day crossover between servers will be possible, putting the planes into Planeshift!" - Prolix

"The new server is, in effect, a full wipe that many of us have been requesting for a long time now." - Prolix

"Personally I have kept playing bilbous instead of another character because he never achieved complete mastery and fell behind in his relative power. On a new server, this will not be as much of an issue." - Prolix

"Any chance the new server will be a pure pvp zone, no /challenges?" - Prolix

If you've been following the posts made by the developers, the new server will have the same feel as Molecular Blue and early Crystal Blue in terms of the in-game social etiquette.  Also, the primary purpose of the new server is testing, not to create a parallel and separate universe to the main server.  So yes, the GMs will interact freely with the players and have all sorts of fun with their GM powers.  This isn't being "out of control" or "harassing the users", it's just people having a party and the players are in on the fun. :)

I'm not having fun. And I am definitely feeling harassed.

The PlaneShift team is proud to announce the advent of a second server! We've been listening to what players have had to say on the forums and in IRC and thought it would be great fun to offer a place to let off some steam and just go... grind for a bit. You know, fill your pack to the brim with ulber furs, dig until your pick breaks; that sort of thing! This new server will be fully functional with all of the quests, NPCs, locations and mobs that we have currently. It is not going to take the place of laanx.fragnetics.com; instead it is going to provide us with a great place to run trials of new features and get feedback. If these features function well and don't disturb the flow of RP, they will then be added to laanx.
What part of the above says you will be forced to participate in whatever crazy things the gms decide to do? If you protest you will be punished.  Perhaps my language has got me incarcerated but it grew with my annoyance, it should not be a surprise.

It's understandable that you're not having fun.  It's because your expectations are out of sync with the purpose of the server.

It seems to me the purpose of this server is to drive off users.

Drive off users from what?

I am very sure that the situation will normalize Prolix, for now everyone is playing around.

Don't let it get under your skin.

I thought this was the point though?  To allow OOC fun and silliness reminiscent of the MB and early CB days.  I don't see a community ever developing on the new server as exists on the real server.  That's why I don't think it will pose a threat to RP in any way.  If anything, people will go to the new server for an OOC break.  They'll get their sillies out, then they'll get bored of it, then they'll go back to the real server for the community.

Oh, by the way, for the record, I'm the one holding the gun to Prolix's head forcing him to play on the new server.

Prolix once described "beating the game" as maxing out your character.

Since maxing out your character might take years, it's actually a relative thing.  So "beating the game" for him is (in practice) analogous to being the most maxed out compared to other players, also known as being "number one in the server".

That's why he called it a wipe.  Because he sees it as a chance to be number one in the (new) server.  The new server is his chance to "beat the game".

From the few glimpses I saw between incarcerations it appeared there were a whole bunch of (possibly gimped) high level critters being offered up for the players to fight, ulbernauts, dlayos, perhaps to kick-start peoples training points. I was dragged into it from Ojaveda where I had gone to escape from it in the plaza and not allowed to return. If indeed there is this kind of kick-start going on there will be nothing learned from the clean database as it was immediately compromised by irregular conditions. Guess that was never the point though. It does look like someone will own that nice guildhouse later today but perhaps not.

No I wasn't forced to play on the new server but being there I was forced to participate in the laggy crash filled event. Maybe I'll be back to that server someday but to me it is little different than the main server so I do not see why I should bother to abandon the work on bilbous he at least doesn't have to stop three times walking to ojaveda or stop after digging 5 times.

Have your fun, Bil Bous is content to stay in his cage for as long as needed.

Dream your little dreams Zanziman you haven't a clue

I believe I'm currently a Zanzibarbarian, not a Zanziman.

Neh ... it is just Xillix who is trying to prove that the non-RP server is a major failure :P

Prolix, you have to do like I did. Log off and stay off for awhile. I tried asking nicely, I tried petitioning, I tried running away... The only way to not get yanked around and thrown into a pvp area every 5 mins is to log off.
