question about -fullbright command
« on: January 29, 2009, 11:22:54 pm »
Greetings, all.. I am curious about something that has been an issue for me since the latest PS Engine update. Since that time, I have had to deal with extreme darkness, mostly in Hydlaa, to the point where I cannot even make out any shapes on my screen. I've submitted the issue to the bugtracker and have spoken to numerous people concerning this, and have tried nearly everything that has been suggested, short of buying a new graphics card. (I cannot justify the expense of a new graphics card for the sake of a single free-to-play game that I'm having issues with..)
At any rate, someone mentioned to me the -fullbright command, and I put that command in the proper place, but it seems to have had absolutely no effect on the darkness issue I currently experience. I was wondering if anyone could point me towards an explanation as to why this command would not be working? Thank you in advance,

~rina

There are ingame brightness controls now, I believe by default they are f11 and f12. You can set different keys for them in options --> keys.

the fullbright command no longer works due to changes in how the maps are lighted, this command has NOT worked for several releases. please run the updater and make sure you have the most up to date maps available.

those commands dont have effect in all maps though, not much can be done at this time.

Yes, I am aware of the F11 and F12 keys. Before the fairly recent PS engine update, I used them with great success. Now, however, I sometimes must press them alternately numerous times in order to get the brightness change to 'stick', since when I hit the F12, it brightens for a couple of seconds, then switches back to total darkness again. Believe me when I say that I have tried pretty much
-every- solution to this darkness issue. :)

As an aside to Caarrie -I will run the psupdater for the new maps again and see if that changes anything, and thank you for letting me know that the -fullbright command no longer works. :)

Not sure how to link to another post. This works for me. Though not ideal it does make it livable.

To solve the proble partly download these maps: http://planeshift.alphasys.nl

It worked for me wonderfully! It still is a bit dark but at least not pitch black anymore! One can move around  :D
