Where can I check when and where there are GM events?
« on: April 25, 2009, 12:38:26 am »
Hello,

I have heard in-game that there has been several GM events. However, i didn't knew about them, neither when or where. Where can I check information about this?

Greetings

It is not you the player who should know about events, but your char (and he should not 'know'). So you have to find out in game, and if it is a really good event, you might not even notice it at first.

To answer your question, GM events happen randomly.  If you see characters walking around who have name-tags that are special colours, it means they're Game Masters and something is likely about to happen.

In PlaneShift, the hope is that the focus will be on player to player interactions rather than grinding levels.  So if you do what you always do (roleplay!), you'll eventually find yourself involved in a GM event.

It also helps to have a large network of friends who can give you a heads up if it looks like an event is brewing. Another reason to get out and make a lot of friends in game.

Hello,

Greetings

Some events, like Guild House Auctions, or the OSP are announced on the forums, but the majority of the events happen whenever a bunch of GMs have time to throw an event. Mini events that can be done by a single GM will happen at any random time as well.

To answer your question, GM events happen randomly.  If you see characters walking around who have name-tags that are special colours, it means they're Game Masters and something is likely about to happen.
On the first glance you might not notice it. We don't use those shiny golden name tags anymore :P

Wisely spoken, zanzi.

Of course you all use IC means to let your friends know about events instead of just sending them a tell "GM event here and there", right?  :P :whistling:

BTW: You may also sometimes see a GM walking around, but there is not really an event, e.g. they just play their role as (NPC-like ~ skyblue labeled) city guard. In that case ... don't put all efforts in making it an event just because they are there. Even GMs have leisure time they might enjoy spending with just simple roleplaying. ;)
