Just because thousands aren't dying doesn't mean it is not to be taken seriously or that the actions of CDC and WHO are unjustified.  Perhaps the quick reactions and dissemination of legitimate information so quickly, is exactly the reason the mass deaths have not occured. ;)

That's the catch 22 of disaster containment.  If you do it too well, the populace may believe you were scare-mongering and wasting everyone's time.

It's almost as if we're asking the agencies to allow more people to die before they bother us about it.  Seems kinda silly put that way...

Oh, I believe that the CDC is doing exactly what they should be doing.  It never hurts to be cautious after all.

I just think the media is blowing things out of proportion, like they always do.

Another example: When I got intoxicated with Carbon Monoxide, in febuary, we went on the frontpage of our local newspaper.

I suggest the statue of Laanx gets turned into a statue of Parallo <3. An NPC could never replace the huge hole he left in my heart when he died  :'(

They don't go out to find me, I go to them when I know I'm needed. It's good money.

You better report it, with 200 people out of 5+ billion dead you know its a critical situation.
26 dead, actually. And with about 1003 people infected worldwide that means about 2.6 percent of the people who catch this flu actually die.
We're not evil. We're simply amazing.

Same lethality as Spanish Flu.  But you have to take into account that the ones who died didn't get proper medical attention.

Estimate of the population of Mexico is 109,955,400, compare that to 1003 total cases worldwide. And those numbers already appear to be stabilizing with no new deaths. If 10%-20% of the population of the world caught it and 2.6 percent died, it would be much more serious.

About 15.600.000 dead, that would be.

9 more confirmed cases in the UK today, now 27 in total.
Proceeding through life like a cat without whiskers, perpetually stuck behind the refrigerator.

Of course the statistics do not include the number of people who were never diagnosed with the disease -- I've had a cold for the past few weeks but never saw a doctor. Was it swine flu? probably not but it is a possibility. People who live overly antiseptic lives are more likely to be unable to fight off diseases. Kids that are never allowed to get themselves dirty are more likely to wind up with allergies. That is just the way it goes.

I should probably be more worried then I am, seeing as I a) have a very weak immune system and b) use Sydney's public transport almost every day

But, everyone knows young people are indestructible.

Observe as the inferior Donari makes a move to latch itself to the alpha-posters.

Anyhow, if you have a cold, it isn't swine flu. If you can claim to have had a flu and been able to pick up groceries, go to work, walk to the kitchen even, I doubt you know what a flu is. Please don't go to the doctor if you're coughing and sneezing. You're wasting his time.
