it\'s like that mostly because PS is still pre-alpha, that means the code\'s  not optimised - it\'s just made to work

you could get out a drop of performance more if you would compile it from source :D

The procedure depends somewhat on which OS you use, but this is how you do it in WinXP (asuming you have xp)

Check vid card:
1. right click on My Computer icon on desktop
2. select properties
3. select tab: Hardware
4. select Device Manager
5. a new screen opens, in this screen you see several things, select the plus next to Display Adapters to see what video card you have installed.

Check Ram:
1. again right click on My Computer
2. again select properties
3. now select the tab: General
4. somewhere to the bottom you should see how much Ram your computer has.

To see fps in game:
add this line to your psclient.cfg:
System.PlugIns.iBugPlug = crystalspace.utilities.bugplug

i have 224 RAM...is that bad? probaly is...

I have something called a sis/650/651/m650/740 for a video card....
What does that mean, what megs is it (see if i could use that post if its 128 or 64)

And 224 ram hopefully wont be bad for the final/next few releases of planeshift... ?(

well as i said it depends on the OS ...i can tell you how it works in linux, but i don\'t think anyone here (except some devs maybe) know how to compile in win*

forget about that. You are using windows, and if you are not into programming, I think it doesn\'t really make sense to compile your own client there...

Well thats not too bad. You have 256MB of RAM overall, but you\'r vid card takes 32MB of it, since it is an onboard card with shared memory.

As I said above its an onboard video card and it uses 32MB of your main memory. Now there are several possibilities:

Some systems support shared video memory up to 64MB, so maybe you have the possibility to increase the amount of your video memory, but at the same time it would decrease the system memory. In that case you could change your settings (it should be documented in your manuals somewhere, how to change that) until you found the fastest setup.
If you can\'t take any more of your main RAM for the vid card (if 32MB vid mem are the max) you can still look for some new drivers for your system.

But anyways you won\'t get much more performance out of it, since those onboard video adapters usually don\'t get the performance of a separated video card (with few exceptions, but not in your case).
So two alternatives would be either to upgrade your RAM or to buy a new (faster) video card (so you could deactivate the onboard one and use all of the 256MB as main memory).

Finally I only hope I haven\'t confused you too much...:D

besides buying new memory another card...i hear they are going to seperate them into differnt maps too so its not one BIG ASS MAP that way the game can run faster, just load when you enter differnt areas, they should defnitaly do this....

i cant really reduce my lag i guess  :(
