Character Name

Am I the only one who thinks that naming your character is a little dumb in this game? Two ppl can't have the same first name IRL? A little extreme if you ask me. This will cause ppl to have those names you hate to whisper in game.

As of right now, things like buddy lists & tells show first name only, so folks having the same first name might get a bit confusing there. I'm sure this issue will be revisited at some point in the future. Also, names like Xyzzyyzzyz are against naming policy, so you shouldn't run into any completely unreadable, unpronounceable names.

If you bring into it all the Dev and GM commands that function on a first name basis also, having shared first names names would be difficult

Admitting the functions would be rewritten to be compliant with first and last names, it would be a pain to write the complete name of the character when you want to /tell him something or anything else

One workaround (for the problem of having to type complete names in conjunction with /tell and such) would be the possibility to associate nicknames to buddies, and the ability to use those nicknames with commands like /tell (the full name would be substituted and displayed). Even now, a few characters have first names that are complicated enough that such nicknames would come handy, I think...
