PlaneShift casually crash

for casually i mean REALLY casually, 'cause it crash past 30 sec like past 30 minutes... i've copy the terminal messages:

my system:
OS: Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid)
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.40GHz
Ram: 1024Mb
Graphics Card: GeForce FX 5200 128Mb

and i say i've understood nothing of the error, 'cause i don't know anything about planshift and, less then all, linux (i've installed linux like a week ago and i've reinstall it like 10 times before it was ok :P) so sorry if the post is useless or i've do something wrong (like post in wrong section or post about an already resolved problem)

I had the same problem, that my client crashed randomly, i could fix that with disabling shadows and sound. To be honest, I don't think that the sound is the problem, but never change a running system. So my advice would be to disable shadows as a first try. Of course building from source would be another option, but if you are new to linux, that might be a bit too much trouble

There are so many problems with the linux client crashing it is almost unplayable.  Most have been fixed in development, so hopefully there will be a new release soon.  I'd like to see planeshift adopt the practice of bug-fix releases if they could be more frequent.  Usually the releases seem focussed on new features, and introduce as many bugs as are fixed.  I don't mind that, as it is a sign of active development, but I'd like to see the bug fixes get released without being tied to the major effort of a "big" release and all the extra work that must involve.
