Violation error

I get this error message when starting up the client:

Something unexpected happened in PlaneShift: Steel Blue
Details: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 049648C0
Anyone know how to fix?
I searched for "049648C0" in teh bug tracker and search engine of forums no results.

Please help.

a google search for "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" shows that many microsoft users (XP and Vista) are having this problem with many different applications.

some say that it has something to do with UAC turned on and that it helps to turn UAC off.

UAC is enabled by default in Windows Vista, as a result, you might encounter some compatibility problems with different applications that have not yet been updated for the Windows Vista UAC component.

Note: Turning off UAC reduces the security of your system. We do not recommnend leaving UAC disabled.

There are different ways to turn off UAC. One of the easiest way is to disable UAC via Control Panel

   1. Click Start and then open Control Panel.
   2. In the Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety.
   3. Click User Accounts.
   4. Click Turn User Account Control on or off.
   5. Clear the tick or check mark on the box beside the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer option.
   6. Click OK.
   7. When prompted, restart the computer. Note that the changes will affect all users on the computer.
   8. To enable the UAC, simply tick or select the checkbox again.

others say that turning UAC off couldn't help them.

only one thing seems to be sure: it's a problem between OS, memory and application.

...can't help your further because I'm a contented linux user since years...

akeera this "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" dosn't say much really... ps crashes sometimes with this however... the number after tells more, some may be the graphics card or tother things, the devs know about this beter but i've run into "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" before so just that bit dosn't tell much.
