What internet connection do you have?
« on: February 01, 2002, 04:40:57 pm »
In an effort to understand what connection the game should be optimised to work best on, I would like to know what connection you have to the internet.

Well, someone here has to be running off of 56k...? You wouldnt want to make the game all good and well for us quick connect people and have it be difficult for others to play. I remember having 56k, it was awful for most things... I suppose it just felt like that because I seen my friends comp wizzing around everywhere  :P

corsairk8, i have a suggestion, u could give 3 download options:

quick(low quality)
normal(med. quality)
best (high quality)

the quality meaning graphics, lower quality graphics=less lag, so us broadband users can play at a high speed and so can the 56k\'ers

The quality of the graphics will not effect the network throughput, and also the team does not have time to make three versions of all game graphics. If you meet the minimum requirements of the game you will not have any problems with system load caused by the 3d graphics.

I have ADSL, yeah! :)) :D  :P

I voted Adsl/Dsl but my speed isn\'t on 356kb/s as it stands in the vote thing, I got a boring speed of 0.5 mb/s
(why Didn\'t I choose Bonet, 2.5mb/s)

ISDN is totally rubbish, cost like 30 squid a month thn ya have to pay for isp thats like 10er so thats hmm  40 squid a month?? ADSL on the other hand is like 5 times quicker(if ure using dual lines on isdn) and works out at about 35 squid a month depending on ure area. And satellite aint expensive get it fo around 30 quid a month - but the best deal going probably is cable 512k, 25 squid a month for the line - isp included and normally if ya get cable internet or phone ya get the tv cheap n all :D but im still stuck with a f***ing 56k which i clocked to 64k :) I did have isdn but had to get rid of it cuz it wasnt compatible with my network protocols :\'( but unless ya gettin dual isdn (2 128k lines) its not worth getting. I would have cable but its not in my area :(

but t5 r00ls!!
