Fiirst try www.mibbit.com/chat select freenode from the dropdown list change the channel from #chat to #planeshift and click go

I can't see you on the ban list but if refused access to #planeshift type

Mibbit is working fine for me.  Try using the screen name it gives you (mib_ followed by a bunch of junk) instead of customizing it.  Sometimes it doesn't like it when you try to use a different screen name, although I haven't figured out the pattern yet.
