IRC channel -- Teen Angst on topic?
« on: July 02, 2009, 08:07:58 pm »
Give me a break. I realize young people have a lot of decisions to make about how they are going to live their lives, but please, do not go on and on giving advice on an open channel. Unless you are a professional counsellor (who likely has insurance) these kind of things are completely inappropriate. At the very least open channel #IDontGiveARatsAss or whatever and keep it disassociated from PS. What happens if someone says something that tips a vulnerable person off the deep end? Who they gonna go after? Freenode likely has lawyers and insurance does Planeshift?

I couldn't listen to the blather anymore. It made me cringe.

If something is going on in the IRC channel that is inappropriate, please try getting the attention of a channel OP.

Speaking for myself when at work I can't sit and watch but may be there is someone actually gets my attention, PM, saying my name, etc.
