XP and Mac not loading world

Hello, I am new to the game and this is my first post so forgive any mistakes. My step son and I have been playing the game on a windows XP machine and on my MacBook Pro for days :thumbup: ,til last night some time. Both of us were playing, then about an hour apart PS lagged and then crashed. We ran PS updater, no updates found. Now neither machine will load the game world. Both can log in, select a character-load screen,then the Mac goes back to desk top,and the XP machine goes to a black screen. I checked and the servers seem to be working, and didn't really find anything here to help. By the way its the fragnetics server. Can you please help since I am at a loss of what to do. :surrender:

Just a quick update did unistall - reinstall of PS and ran updater again on both, then turned down the graphics. Now the Mac seems to be working.   But the XP machine will only work if you start a new character but then it completely skipped the tutorial. (tutorial not the point) So end up not able to use old charecter with its perks to starting over with no money, no weapon, no nothing.   Hope maybe this will help. Will work on adding error log from xp machine soon.

Thanks for the reply about the tutorial Sen.

The main question now is the one unplayable char on the XP machine that just goes to a black screen when tries to load.  How can we get to use it,and what happened to it. Did other people loose their char and have to start over, loosing all items(some were gifts from a nice player)-time etc?    Why is only one char on this machine not working? I know the game is in development so thought an answer would be good for everyone. I just keep thinking I'm missing something here.

Hmm, not sure if I get it right. Did you try to log on with the same char with windows xp and mac? Then the mac worked but windows not (and only not for that single char?)
If so, did you try to let your not working char walk to another map (using your mac client) and try there again with the windows machine?
Also a good idea is alway to run the updater with the --repair option.

It maybe that your character is stuck try making a petition with your working character and ask a GM to move you to a different map

Ok,
The simplest way to put it is, only the one char will not work on 1 XP machine(we have 2 + a mac). That same char is playable on other machines. Thats the part I don't get, other char work on that machine. And the same char works just fine on other machines.    To me it make no sense, plus it's the better of the 2 XP machines that will not load. To recap I have done a file search to remove all PS files and downloaded-reinstalled that machine 3 times,running the updater each time also changing all video and audio settings each time just hoping it might work. No Luck

The sound things look pretty normal for me; I'd really try to either walk the not working char to another map or let gms do it with a petition - happened before several times that a char got somehow stuck in a map and couldn't be loaded again from one computer while it worked on another

After the numerous and thero uninstall - reinstalls and lastly having a GM move char we got it resolved!
