Magic - Who Cares what it Does?
« on: July 19, 2009, 02:44:49 am »
This is something that's been bothering me as of late. No matter what Way you choose to train, you still have offensive spells. Brown Way is the strongest of all the other Ways, but... wait, I thought it was for defensive spells? Wrong. All Ways do this, and it puzzles me. Before healing was even implemented, Crystal Way was described as the healing Way, yet it instead had the strongest offensive spell of its time, before many more glyphs were introduced. Why aren't the spells following the Way they're described to be? Dark Way and Red Way should be the strongest, since they're the ones described as being able to wield chaos and illness, yet... they actually rank pretty low when compared to Brown or Crystal Way.

Anyway, I post this in the Wish List, because I simply wish that the Ways would go back to being as they're described.

So true, that always bothered me.  Although Dark way can be the second strongest way if you manage to get hold of a pair of those overpowered laanx's mind weapons.  Red way is just sad though, it's supposed to be strong, but in actuality it's laughable.  Last I checked there weren't even any red way spells that could do damage at range.  I've heard about a new magic system coming ..."soon"... maybe things will improve.
Censorship FTW.

To add to that, you could make each way to be strong in their own unique ways, with one special skill for each ways. For example one way can have mostly healing or buffing and some attack spells, other mostly debuff and DoT skills, other mostly AoE, other mostly 1 v 1 and or mix of all

I don't know if this counts as a spoiler or not *(if so, mods please erase my post), but there are some significantly powerful Red Way spells, including ranged ones.

They exist. I just have no knowledge at this time if they're attainable or not - and do understand you gotta be pretty damn strongin RW to use 'em. Is there a RW trainer who can teach the skill that high? I'm not certain.

Red Way is not the most powerful. Currently, those spells are un-attainable.

Nothing is easy, everything depends on everything else, we're working on it.
