well I really suggest death wouldn\'t be \"painfull\" in mmorpg ....but then why do you die ??

No I think death sould only bring people to a place with no danger but for example where no magic is tolerated, no teleport scroll and so on ; I didn\'t say a labirinth, but just something where the players has to walk 10 minutes without any other solution...well so boring that it makes you wana stay alive!!
The good thing is that is doesn\'t really punish you to die in this way, you don\'t loose armors and so on...it\'s just boring!

death realm is an awsome idea, and instead of just teleporting back where you died you shouldd have a cave that you have to walk though to the surface, like a volcano, or maybe the tunnels below Ykailum noone knows about =).

but most likley well just end up teleporting to Ykailum, or another bind spot, after finishing the death realm quest.

I have an idea that might seem intersting, and still fitting. and an explanation of where you end up after death

here\'s a summary

A person chooses his god and canc hange at anytime, now someone can chhose no god but that would be very unbenifintial, when you pray, to your god, which must be done on a regualr bases (same general time of day) your charcter is \"saved\".

At death a  person goes the the realm of the dead. The realm of the dead is a huge llobby where dead souls waiting for their dieties measenger to come get them and take them to there diety\'s respective homes, there another one of the dieties servants shall give him the death trials of (dieties name). These trials shall recall the history of the diety. the more correct asnwers the less skill points extracted. After the trials the servant grants you life,  retuning you to your last place of prayer.

here are details

Land of dead-  The downside to this is that a person must ait for their dieties servant to arrive, they could say go in 30 minute intervials, then one must wait for the trials to begin. During all the waiting your free to raom around and see neat sites of the plane, like on the death land, see the river of styx and links to hells and the celestial stairway to the heavens.

Trials-In the land of the living people are going to have books of there repective religion, when a character is created he gets a book of his diety with a summary of history. The book is not very in depth requiring the characters to buy books at a later date for more and more money. The trials are 10-15 qquestions on that history, they get harder as the character moves on though skills, so total skillpoints =200 and so on. thus requiring the character to study the religion and even take person value into researching it. In the trials there are however many poeple were waiting taking it at once, they all have the same trial questions, if any talking come from the charcters like /tell or anything at all the charcter is thrown back into the land of death right after the servant leaves, making him have to wait longer.

Revival-A person who finishes the trials is restored to the exact same deatil as when he last prayed equipment and all, any valuble/magical equipment on your body is returned to you dietic shrine, nonmagical  and invaluble swords and armor or anything else are left on your body for anyone to pick up.

I don?t like the idea of coming back to the spot where you died because there?s a chance you could be killed by the same thing that killed you in the first place... Which would make people very sore about the game.

An Idea I just thought of is that there could be this big gate to the underworld in the middle of a city that you come out of. The Gate could look like something out of Stargate, big and round. You can come out but you can\'t go in.  There could be different Gates all over the land and while in the underworld you can choose which one to come out on... That way you could choose the gate closest to your party.

The idea of going to the Dead World when you die is great, but if you can find the way out, the best is that you respawn at the church or temple of your God (the one on the last city you visited). Each city have a church or temple for all the Gods.
Is your God who resurrects you to allow you to continue \"his mission\".
If you respawn at the same localiton where you die, the same monster that kill you will kill you again (how say Foolman).

exchequer

Yes, but, if someone kills you and gets your sword, armor, money and equip?
When you resurrect you have your fully equip?

that would be a really bad idea, cause then you\'d have people dying just to dupe good loot, say in the instance of ac, I\'ve got some really nice covenant armor, al 356 with imp 6 on it, that\'s some kick arse armor man, if ^ was implemented, and I wanted someone to have good armor like that, all I\'d have to do is go die somewhere that he could loot me, and viola, they\'re set, and I keep my copy too, it\'s just not kosher, it would be a rule cheat. dod items should be simply looted from your corpse, whether someone else does it or you do it yourself, in AC, they have a nice system where you have to permit someone to loot you, which means that if you can\'t trust anyone enough to loot your corpse and you were hunting above yourself, you\'re gonna get scrawed

What I\'m saying is... When you die people can only loot some items some gold but can\'t loot your armor or your sword. When you come out of the Under world, using one of those gates I talked about in the past post, all your have is your sword and armor and some gold..  all the other items and gold is still at the place where you died. If you want that stuff back, you have to hope no one looted you.

Play Shadowbane for a month or two to really see what pvp and looting is like.

I\'ve done the pk looting thing man, and to lose everything but what you\'re equipped with would be too much, do it like in AC, you drop a numerical value of what you own, the value depending on your lvl, if you\'re lvl 1, you don\'t lose very much, if you\'re high lvl, you lose a lot, it\'s the best drop system I\'ve seen myself, it keeps you from being bankrupted by a death,  yet makes it important to you that you don\'t die at the same time

personally, I really don\'t like other players looting your corpse at all, I mean, that\'s just grief play there

so you got lucky enough to run into someones corpse, how much do you deserve the right to steal his hard earned loot

I like that - the coming back into the temple of your god thought.

As long as the temple was kept safe from the grievers it would give you a chance to get you stuff together before having to have to venture back out into the fog.
