Serius problem of loging off
« on: May 04, 2003, 07:08:32 pm »
I dont know how this problem is solved in other MMORPGs if it is at all.

Say i\'m in the heat of losing battle. Cant win cant run and i just log off. A lousy way of cheating. ppl dont care.
I was exploring the woods when i log off. Next time i enter the game i can wake up surrounded by bunch of ppl fighting and get incindentaly killed whitout knowing what hit me. Cant blame them i wasnt there when fight started.

Well the second exemple is hard to happen but not impossibile. The main point is: where is my character when im not there?

There are few solutions:
When player go char remain the same place. Too stupid too many ppl sleeping on the streets too many death in sleep.

Everybody have their main job selected at char generation. So when i log off while beeing in the city my char become an NPC doing my regular , going home or guild (if any). It will reduce number of real NPCs. Char attacked in the city will run away from battle towards city guards (i asume they exist; and whit reason in this case) yelling for help. char will remember if anything odd happened to him while i was away.

ppl will pay more attention where they gonna sleep, and cowardly escapin will be eliminated (as now it lacks of any point).

well think about it... i will

I\'d like it better if you couldn\'t be attacked while you were sleeping/offline.. I dont think you\'ll ever log on in the middle of a battle because there\'s no pking (execpt for arenas). How about like a \"hobo cleanup\" where you have npc guards going around town, and if you logged off in the middle of the street, you\'d  get rounded up, and put in a holding tank in the city till you logged back on, then you could leave.

I\'d like a 15 second period before you could log off.. Or the thing thats attacking you would have not hit you for 10 sec, otherwise it wouldnt let you logg off. Something like that...

ppl cant allways chose when will they log off. and its not too hard to pull cable from moden or simply turn it off. it would happen, belive me.

as i said there is also the adventage whit NPCs. and number of ppl in the city wont change in too big jumps. it will rise as new players come into game. whit this game realistic are at higher level.

it\'s all abotu a character who cannot log out from a MMORG... it\'s very education, in short logging out requires going through a lot of pain, getting a few good friends and awakening a little girl!

Hey! you just ruined the plot of hacksign for me!  As for the topic, I\'d say you just dissappear when you log off. It\'s not realistic, but so what? At least there\'s not lag. If you log out in battle, your body should just sit there for a minute, then dissapear.
You are here,
You will always be here,
You will never be there.
Although you may strive to get there,
upon reaching there you will realize you are really here.
And there is everywhere else.
