32 mb vid card
256 ram

im getting about 0.27 lowest fps ever to like...5 5fps tops...is their a way to get that consistantly to 5?

when im outside its slower, when i enter the temple its good, when i enter the dungeon its in the middle i guess...

at the planeshift setup im at
1. 640x480(smaller then full screen
2. 8 mbit
3. no sound
4. no music
5. open gl

i heard theirs something about tweeking some number in the opengl.cfg, but what can i do for a 32 m bit card? ?(

PLEASE IF YOUR GOING TO SUGGEST GO BUY A NEW ONE OR GO BUY MORE MEMORY JUST DONT BOTHER POSTING!

opengl.cfg is already configured for 32 mb.
Some things that might help (low resolution \'n stuff isn\'t such a big difference):
1) download the newest drivers (especially for you videocard)
2) close all background programs when you run the game (except for essential stuff)
3) Post the rest of your specs, if you\'re running the game on a 100 MHz processor, ofcourse you\'ll have terrible performance. And what kind of videocard?!

Because I\'m running it on:
P4 1,7 GHz
256 MB RAM
Geforce 2 mx 200 (32mb)
60 GB HD (7200 rpm)
Soundblaster live (value i think)
ADSL (256 kb/s down, 64 kb/s up) connection
As you see, not your typical dreammachine, but it runs the game hands down.  :D

Maybe this\'ll help:
click \'start\' - \'run\' and type \'dxdiag\' followed by pressing enter.
click the \'display\' tab, it will display the name and chipset of your videocard (I\'m not 100% sure if it will work with onboard cards though)...

That SiS 650 isn\'t all that fast, and it shares its memory with the CPU, so when running a heavy game like PlaneShift, they\'ll both be stepping on each other\'s toes.

If you have a free AGP slot in your machine (it\'ll typically be brown, and alone, as opposed to the 3-6 white PCI slots on the motherboard) then you can buy some better card (such as a GeForce FX 5200 Ultra for $99, or a Radeon 9000 Pro for $79) and install it in the AGP slot.

If you don\'t have a free AGP slot, then you can\'t usefully update your computer (as PCI graphics cards usually won\'t be an improvement). Then you might want to look into getting a whole new motherboard (which requires skill with a screwdriver and steady, careful hands).

Sorry to say this, but there is very little you\'re gonna be able to do without getting at least a new AGP card as others have been saying. Another 256mb of ram wouldn\'t hurt either :P

My video card happens to be very similar to yours. It\'s an onboard SiS 650_740, using 64mb of system RAM. I generally get between 2 and 10 FPS on my system, which also has 256mb of ram minus what the card uses, and a 1.7 ghz Celeron processor. I\'m hoping to be able to upgrade it before too much time goes by, but it seems to dislike having any add-in cards put in it.

I dont know about you guys, but..

i think that its not your processor thats causing the unbelivable lag, i personally cant play a game unless its over 30 fps.

any how though, i have a similar computer witha  similar card, its 700 mhz and 32 mb card, and it lags on my comp innormously... but ibelive it can be improved greatly if the planeshift team would use the same engine as eagames are using for dungeon siege.

the engine works like this: the computer only draws a certain area that a player can seem everything else is fogged out, and when a player moves the computer draws in the parts of the game that will be soon shown, and then lets go of the parts that the player left.

then if the playr goes back, the comp draws those parts again, do you see what i mean?

this means that instead of drawing the whole world over and over again, your comp would only draw a partof planeshift, reducing lag to over 30 or even 40 fps!

i really hope the team gets to that on the rop of their to do list. really do, i like the game, but i cant play it and enjoy it because i can barely move, and if i do, it jumps so i dont know where i am, one second im looking at one thing, the other second im in a dungeon, its creepy :P.  i hope its fixed asap....  :(

CHECK COMPATIBILITY MODE!!!

It worked for me... following:

I activated comp-mode for Win95 because it reduced the loading time at the beginning a LOT! But after the newest update, this \"fix\" is unneccessary anymore. With the comp-mode activated, my framerates were somewhere between frozen and unplayable (0.01 to 2), but after unchecking the comp-mode (I play with WinXP), my framerates are...uhm... see, I only got an AMD 750 TBird and a GeForce 2 MX... but its well playable (12 - 35fps)! 8)
Not being paranoid doesn\'t mean no one sneaks behind you...
