Guild Goal: Modeled after the city of Arkhia, New Arkhia aims to gather all the knowledge of Yliakum and build a library similar to that of the Halls of Knowledge.

New Arkhia is a diverse guild. We recruit all types of players as we aim to collect the knowledge from every aspect of Yliakum.

History

At the beginning of the fifth epoch; the time when Galeran Tarbius, inspired by Laanx, led the Xacha to Yliakum and constructed the iron temple consecrated to Laanx, a small group of people decided to worship neither Laanx nor Talad. They founded their own town on the first level to live together peacefully. The town soon became known as Arkhia and its inhabitants lived their lives without the influences of the gods. Soon the Arkhians realized that there is much knowledge spread among the inhabitants of Yliakum. They began to study the world around them, everything from its landscape to its people. The Arkhians became the must erudite scholars in all of Yliakum, but began to fear the loss of their knowledge. They feared that if an older generation died, the knowledge of this generation would disappear.
They decided to record their knowledge so that it might be preserved for future generations. The town decided that it should store these texts together. They established a library, where they hoped to collect all knowledge and preserve it for future generations. Because of the big halls where the shelves were located, they decided to call the library the Halls of Knowledge. The library grew very fast in the years that followed, and it had to be extended to several huge buildings in order to offer enough space for all the shelves where the books and manuscripts were stored. One could surely say it developed to the most important and largest library in all Yliakum.
The Halls of Knowledge still continued to grow and prosper, with it did Arkhia and its people. The Arkhians soon established themselves a form of government unseen before in Yliakum's history. Instead of being ruled by the rich or the powerful, they believed any citizen of Arkhia could potentially rule, but also strongly believed that only the most scholarly should be in charge. A small group that became known as the High Council was formed. Those elected to the council were the most erudite of the Halls' librarians and were elected for life. During the period of the First Great Council, the foundation for Arkhia's new form of government were laid out. They formed groups of advisers, established laws, and gave authority to the librarians of the Halls of Knowledge. In the laws passed came three of Akhia's most important laws: All people and races are equal in potential to gain knowledge and thus the potential to rule, All citizens have the civic duty to gather and record the knowledge of Yliakum for future generations, and, most importantly, All people of Yliakum have the right to the knowledge of the Halls. There was only to be one exception, and that was knowledge which could hurt the people of Yliakum, or the realm itself.

Both Laanx and Talad recognized the great potential and the possibilities of the library. Therefore, during the rule of the Second Great Council, Laanx devised a plan to gain influence over the library. She tried to convince the people of Arkhia to worship her, and, in return, she would offer them even more powerful knowledge which was not known yet to any living creature. To a city that committed themselves to learning, the proposal was very alluring, but came with a downside. She demanded that the knowledge of the Halls must not be shared with the followers of Talad, because Laanx was a bit jealous of the many people who followed Talad. With the collected knowledge in the Halls of Knowledge she would be able to wrest many people from Talad.

Talad did not rest either. As soon as he found out about Laanx plans, he became angry, because, like any god, he did not like the thought of losing followers. After a while he had an idea of how to undermine Laanx's plan. He made a similar offer to the Arkhians, hoping they would decide against Laanx.

It was a hard decision for the High Council. Should they give up there former beliefs and worship either Laanx or Talad? No matter how they would decide, one, if not both, of the gods would surely not like their decision. The were many controversial discussions, but, finally, they decided to decline both offers, because they still were firmly convinced that knowledge should be shared among all people no matter whom they worship.

Unfortunately, neither Talad nor Laanx were pleased with that decision. In their jealousy they suspected each other of sabotage. Nevertheless, both still hoped to be able to convince the Arkhians for their cause. All they needed to do was demonstrate the unique powers they gave their followers and the Arkhians would surely decide for one of them - either Laanx or Talad. But the ways of providence are strange sometimes, and after a while, the fierce competition which had begun among Talad's and Laanx's followers turned into a conflict, a kind of war. Unfortunately that conflict became centered in Arkhia, and soon became fierce.
It is not known who started it, but suddenly the town was on fire. The flames spread quite quickly, few tried to extinguish the fire; most were busy defending themselves. Many inhabitants tried to escape from the fire, and most of them were successful, but, unlike the people, buildings cannot flee. So it happened that the Halls of Knowledge caught fire. Of course, the librarians tried to save the books, pamphlets, and manuscripts from the flames, but the fire was quick, too quick. Only very few things were rescued as the Halls of Knowledge were covered in thick smoke. As the smoke vanished and the conflict briefly subsided, only ruins, rubble, and ash could be seen were the city once stood. The most important item to the Arkhians, which the fire did not destroy, was the Book of Radiant Fate, but it soon went missing.

A deep feeling of sadness came over Laanx and Talad when they saw what had happened. They were shocked at how this could happen. They immediately urged their followers to stop the fight, because it was useless now that the Halls of Knowledge were destroyed. After that the people in Yliakum began again to live together peacefully, and many years passed by, and many generations appeared and disappeared under the Azure Sun. Few remembered those days of the Halls of Knowledge.

Through all of this, there still were the descendants of those who survived the terrible fire and the story of the tragic event of past days, which was passed down from generation to generation. Now, right in this moment some of them bind together. Modeled after their ancestors great city, they form a new entity. One that is dedicated to gathering the knowledge of Yliakum and and creating a library similar to that of the Halls of Knowledge. These people call themselves the New Arkhia.

10) Master Archivist of Wisdom- This is the most senior of the three Consuls. Beyond serving ceremonial duties in the High Council, he/she/it serves as the in-game guild leader.

In-Game, Ranks 1 and 2 are to be combined. they are called Initiate of Knowledge.

Hierarchy

The government of our guild is a complex oligarchy system. In charge of our guild are three members known collectively as the High Council. Each High Consul controls a Chamber. A Chamber is the broadest, and most powerful, division of knowledge. There are three total Chambers: the Chamber of Combat, the Chamber of Magic, and the Chamber of Society. Each Chamber is in charge of gathering knowledge of a different area of Yliakum, and each has its own focus of skills (see below for details). Each Chamber may have its own set of guidelines and rules to follow, as long as they obey Guild rules.

Each Chamber is also divided into several Halls. A Hall is a more focused division of Knowledge. Each Hall is led by a Luminary of Enlightenment, who reports directly to his/her/its High Consul. Each Hall may have it own set of guidelines and rules to follow, as long as they obey Chamber and Guild rules.

Each Hall is further divided up into several Wings. A Wing is the most focused, and least powerful, division of knowledge. All players will begin in a Wing when they reach Keeper of Scrolls. Each Wing is led by a Wing Archivist, who reports to his/her/its Hall superiors and High Consul. Each Wing may have its own set of guideline and rules to follow, as long as they obey Hall, Chamber, and Guild rules.

As a player ranks up he/she/it gains access to more knowledge stored within our library. After a player reaches Dissemenator of Knowledge, the player begins to take part in government of the guild. From this point on, a player gains more and more power as /he/she/it ranks up in the guild, rather than gaining more knowledge. Just as our ancestors had once made into law we also believe that All people and races are equal in potential to gain knowledge and thus the potential to rule.
