everquest.
« on: May 07, 2003, 03:15:13 am »
this is about everquest, abermore put a post up about how bad it is.

first id like to know what expansions you had, the original is about 5 years old.

the game was obviously to complex for you to handle,

everquest is NOT a game you can jump on and play, and by  deciding to play everquest, you have to give up life for a few days to learn it, and its pretty hard to have a life and play it.

the size of this game is massive, i dought you found your way past level 10, which takes about a week your first time around.

quests dont level you up, but they are extremly helpfull and the number of quests in the game is insane.

if youve already bought everquest and you have an acount, you might as well give it more of a try, tell me what server your playing at, ill come help you at as everquest is definatly NOT a newbie friendly game, and almost everyone quits durint there first attempemt, even i did.

i have played everquest for 4 years now but it seriously has gone to hell, it is a game that is n00b friendly now and it is seriously beginning to suck, I think PS has the same potential everquest did in the begining.

Never played it, but I was seriously thinking of getting it. Before I got DAoC that is...
btw, shouldn\'t this be in the Hydlaa Plaza?

I am sure Venge will move this thread soon enough.

bbum,

Abemore has stopped posting to that thread.  I however would be glad to have you post to it.  I am trying to keep it alive.

We have some good examples of EQ sucking-- such as:

Gaurd kill stealing.

MOB\'s attacking you through walls.

Weird monster drops.

Camping

And much much more.  Please feel free to join the party!

I\'m not sure what expansion I had.
I did not have planes of power.  I did not have enhanced graphics (or if I did, they were really bad).  And I could not play the beastmaster class/cat race.  But I could play the lizard man race (I think that was added in an expansion).  With all that, you may be able to guess what expansions I had.  It might have been Ruins of Kunark.

I probably played it about a year ago, very frequently, for the free trial period of one month.  I played as several different races and classes, and no, I never made it past level 20.  My half-elf bard was the character I hated the least.

My friend had just got the game, and he really liked it, so he convinced me to join him.  He and I had played and beta tested several games together over the years.  Two I remember enjoying are Legend of Mir and Ragnarok Online, but the joy may have come from the price tag.

I only had experience with say, a total of 10 quests, at least 1 of which had a bug in the NPC dialog causing me to seek help from other players.  But this is a small gripe.  You see, it seemed like 10% of the quests were buggy from my perspective.

The game is no more complex than the offline Morrowind or any other RPG, online or off.

In the end I gave my copy to my friend since he still enjoyed the game at the time.  However, today he no longer plays because of the time commitment required for guild raids. (He claims to have several level 50+ characters now.)

Let me know if you\'ll be demanding any more information bbum.

Personally, I loved EQ, I played it from just before Kunark to some time after Velious (I think about 1 1/2 years).  However, it was the first MMORPG I\'ve ever played, and before that time, I didn\'t spend too much time on MUDs... I know better now, EQ, while it had a good system, was plagued with lamers and newbs (which I didn\'t mind so much, as long as they weren\'t the dreaded \"n00b\" ) .  If you knew where to look (or were a member of a good guild) you could have a pretty good time on EQ, though.

If you\'re looking for a good time online, you can do much better than EQ (or even SWG, which I thought would be great.)

I eventually had to quit, because of the horrible psychological effect EQ addiction had on me.

P.S.: Abemore, you had at least Ruins of Kunark, because the lizardmen were added in the same expansion in which they added Austraila--err, I mean Kunark. ;)

Caldazar,

I knew this was a general EQ form.  My post was just a shameless advertizement for the Post that bbum refered to in the original post.

Me---> Joined in 2000, bought Kunark and Velious expansions, got to level 50, started making other characters, then rediscovered real life.  Now using forums as methadone.  Been EQ free for 20 months now.  Gym rockclimbing also helped break the addiction.

I played EQ from Alpha to a few months back. When my good friend Brad left, the game went to entire hell. Brad was the original man with the vision, once he was gone, so was my respect.

If you really want to hear it, I can easily named over 100 reasons of what they\'ve done wrong with EQ, and I\'m not joking.

in a lot of ways eq has gone to hell, but the people are saying that eq2 is what eq 1 was ment to be, so io\'m curious to see if they make improvements

at its start eq was the best game of its time, now its outdated, LDoN seems like it will be the best expansion ever-preorder the first week i did- like i have said before, its not the programer fault eq stinks, its the people who complain and want easier things, i seriously disagree with the PoP \"books\" abd think that was the worst thing ever (no i\'m not a druid.. only in ps)

my how times have changed.....
