the problem is you can't shift all people clock because you are having a nap so would be either you wait or you can't shift the clock ahead :) it's a multiplayer game unfortunately :P
What you need is a dreamland then, to keep players busy during sleep.  :)

About abuse, someone, please describe what type of abuse you expect. All I imagine at the moment is littering (tents kept in game while owners are away) and lag (too many tents aggregated). In that regard, you could:

- not allow tents inside cities (I'll always mention the obvious  :))

- make tents constantly wear off (quality reduce, up to 0=ruined) when setup. They can be greased or fixed or whatever, either when set up or not, so that people need to visit them regularly. Abandoned tents would then disappear automatically when they become garbage.

- make groups of tents attract mobs (for example 0% chances with 1 tent, 5% chances every hour when 2 tents close, etc.). The tents could be destroyable by mobs, or simply suffer automatic fast decay whenever combat happens close-by.

Another thing that could be of interest is to make larger tents impossible to be carried by 1 person alone (a matter of volume), and to require a group to be raised.

Oh! And make them burn when setup too close to a campfire.  :whistling:

But then you will get people luring mobs to tents or placing campfires nearby just to wreck rival guilds/merchants tents.

Team Fortress 2 FTW!

lol yeah, but i have a (slightly off topic) idea. resting can be real time and can be done with the push of a button (your char falls asleep). if you log off your character will remain asleep, and when you log on and push that button again, you'll get some kind of stat boost that makes your staminas regenerate 2x faster for however many of yliakum's hours, depending on how long you rested. max sleep length could be 9 hours even if you don't wake up beyond that. sleeping maybe 8 hours makes your character is well rested and has a boost for at least 12 hours, idk what the ratio would be. naps could last quarter of an hour and give an hour boost.

[Problem is, wouldn't that mean other characters would be seeing your dead-asleep one? Unless  you have [away/asleep] in your description, they'll be rather clueless and frustrated at your lack of response. Oh and don't go afk/sleep in the middle of camp banished or the maulber fields. Just a heads up.  :-[ ]

If you want this thread to be productive, i suggest you discuss how to prevent abuse of these large items. You could also search the net for images of tents that could be used as inspiration for future implementations. Then it will be up to the devs to do something about it.

where's the big difference if you compare it to large crates, beds, etc.?
those items are about as big as the smaller tents used for shops right now and are available to anyone(with slight restrictions for furniture, but still easy to access)

you're not dead. you're just asleep. it should be pretty obvious if someone's alseep. :P and when you log off, your avatar disappears like usual. when you log on, he/she should still be asleep.
