unwelcoming
« on: December 03, 2009, 02:13:34 pm »
this morning, i posted a number (fewer than 10) posts with a fun and surrealist nature. the point was to have some fun and to entertain people in a forum where activity is waning. no harm was done by my posts. however, my posts have been deleted, and a pm from mordraugion is in my inbox. i've never had this happen to me on any forum. ironically, i cannot reply to mordraugion's message because my posts were deleted. but what rule did i break... it is confusing and unwelcoming.

Hello

To be honest, when I read the posts I actually thought, that I would do exactly this if I were a moderator. Maybe Im just lacking the sense of that kind of posts, but for me they didn't add anything to the discussions (also no humour ;) ).
I assume the moderator explained you why the posts were deleted what is already nice in my view.

(Hmm, now these posts might get deleted aswell since it's against forum rules to publicly complain about staff... iirc)

It looked to me as if you spammed the forum with short messages in orger to jack you post count up to 5 to you could send pm's.

Yes, it was harmless but I believe is against the forum rules. Take a look at the forym rules section.

While you meant to harm its a little annoying when you start going through threads to see the latest posts only to find that its just someone writing barely relevant messages.

Welcome to the ps forums btw...

For the rules:
I didn't get the chance to read your posts, but I guess
Quote
  • Make posts which lack any substance, such as "nice" or "awesome".

These will be promptly deleted, as well as any one-word posts or posts consisting of smilies only. Posting for the sole reason of increasing your rank is not allowed.
or
Quote
  • Make replies to posts that do not pertain to or are irrelevant to the original topic – for example, posting messages to reserve a reply spot with the intention of posting to it later.
  • Make redundant threads.
or
Quote
  • Make threads that are off-topic for the forum section.
might have applied to your posts...like often it's up to the interpretation of the moderators. But if you want my hint...either get used to deleted posts or don't use the forum at all. It happens pretty often and it's not always obvious why. As said several times already...the forums are no democracy. Whatever the moderators/PS team don't want here will get deleted.

You said Mordraugion sent you a PM but what was in the PM? It's not empty, is it? :P I can imagine the PM would explain the reasons for deletion.

Welcome to the ps forums! Please read the rules so you won't be confused. This forum is privately owned and paid for by a nice volunteer. In accordance with his wishes, the forum does not have a democratic element. Most discussions seem to go fine without deletions, however invective against the gm team, moderator actions, or the developers will often win you deletes, locks, bans. Try to keep on topic in the posts you make and I am sure you'll find the forum quite welcoming. Hop on irc if you want to talk to someone live about your concerns.

Thanks,

XilliX

Aiwendil has already highlighted the rules under which your posts were deleted, you joined the forum and then proceded to spam threads with pointless and irrelevant posts.

I am a Moderator and PM was the only method I can get in touch with you whereas in contrast my email address is public and you could have responded there.
