Version 5 crashes on splash screen

Hi all

New to Planeshift. Upgraded to version 5 just now, patched ok.

When launch the game from the patcher i get as far as a splash screen with a loading bar at the bottom. I then get the following windows error message

Exception Acess Violation at 008A9E15

did you make sure your settings were correct? ( i had to set my graphics level to low before i could get in)

Having same sort of problems, running Vista 32bit pentium dual cpu, 1,8 GHz, 4 GB memory, ATI Radeon X600 pro 256mb graphic card
'Exception Access Violation' ... it crashes at startup or about 15 seconds after login most of the time. Not only 'normal' crashes, also blackscreens in which i need to restart computer. Sometimes if i'm lucky i can stay a 20 minutes, seems to depend on the area.
Tried with different settings for resolution / graphic detail / sound, on both servers and with different characters... all brought the same problem.
Tried reinstallation too. The updater keeps saying pslaunch.exe is failing integrity check.

Ya might think my graphic card causes the problem, but the few times i was able to stay everything looked okay, fullscreen 1600 x 1200 medium quallity

winXP Pro, i got in and out of ver5 a couple of times,Via update to experimental ver5 client (took five trys), got booted "sever down", now i can't get back in, ran check and says pslaunch.exe file is bad, i select "Y" to download new file and it says downloading but that is as far as it goes ,,,,can i get a good copy somewhere else? thank you

Downloaded the latest graphic drivers, adjusted settings to low, cursed, swore....

In fact, I managed to get on once, probably by luck, so I know it can do it.
 It's getting me awfully frustrated...grrrr

I downloaded fresh graphic drivers and the client again from another location.
Integrety check is okay now. When i deselect  'enable VBO' everything works fine for me now.

Still can't log my main character because of a bug. Can't get him through the charater selection holdin his magic wand staff. Ingame it looks perfect

Downloaded new version from website, installed , patched , still same problem.

Updated graphics drivers, first time i run the client and i get through to character select!

However all subsequent attempts to run the client result in the same error as before.

Also my main character is also able to get ingame now. My thanks to the one who fixed that !  

Medium texture quallity and low shaders seem to work the best for me.

For people that still keep crashing at the loading screen i advise to be patient before clicking the 'Play-button' after the launcher has started, especially when you have changed the settings. Patience at the character selection again. If i click to fast i'm still getting the 'Exception Access Violation'
