This is a thread where all the bards among you can record the stories of the epic battles in days of old in the form of poems or prose. Here is my own attempt at a dwarven legend to get the ball rolling.
The Balad of battle in the cave of iron
this is a legend from the home lands of the stonebreaker and hammerwielder people,it existed as a verbal story for generations and was not written down until these people arrived in yliakum. This retelling of the legend in the form of poetry is based on a version laid down in modern yliakum common tounge by an early dwarvern bard who's name is lost to history
In time before the stalagtite
and Azure crystal's ancient light
In other realms we dwarves did dwell
where picks did delve and hammers fell.
The tale recounted in these rhymes
is ancient even for those times
The children then did hear this tale
while elders drunk of finest ale
The tale i am about to tell
is of a battle that befell
The ancient dwarves in ancient times
Who did comit most evil crimes.
........................................................
In that time were two great men good
of hammerwielding brotherhood
One went by name of Bahl of pick
The other known as Rahl the quick
These two were lords of two great lands
built by their father's father's hands
They ruled their men with iron rods
and commanded them like vengeful gods
One day upon a summer's morn
a sound did ring out from a horn
News was spread fast that a cave
had been found by stonebreakers brave
......................................................................
This cave was full of riches great
and Bahl began to boil with hate
He wanted it all for his own
And so a mighty mob was grown
Bahl's men were gathered under an arch
And from there they began to march
Their blades did glint against the light
their size did seem to flaunt their might
When many days of marching past
They came upon the cave at last
Then when Bahl told them "Go to slay"
They charged the dwarves who in the cave lay
...................................................................................
The stonebreaking clan who had taken the cave
Did dig it well till gold it gave
Then one of them did shout in fear
He'd seen the mighty army near
The fight was short as the stones were suprised
Bahl's men did cut and slashed and prised
when every stonebreaker had fell with a thud
The granite and gold was spattered with blood
