What are the advantages of this game? Is it better than RuneScape/helbreath and other online games?

It\'s a 3D Game, so it\'s completely different and unique :D

Planeshift is (when it\'s finished) going to be in league with the pay-for MMORPG\'s (at least in my point of view), but it\'s free!  :D
It\'s definately worth to download this game!

And not to forget, a great community!
All the players are extremely nice, and I\'ve never seen any newbie been bashed, no matter how \"stupid\" their questions are.

Actually, it\'s not really a game yet... It\'s a demo. You can collect crystals, or complete one (very annoying and stupid) quest. But stick around for a year or so, and you might be able to call it a game then. Although, I\'m not promising anything!

Yeah.. but one year seems so far away.. I\'d rather think about it as a training-period, until final launch.

I came into the Planeshift picture only about a couple of months ago when Molecular Blue was on the verge of release. This was partly due to me noticing it on the Happy Penguin awards for most promising game and I told the rest of my team about it and they were game.

I\'m not sure what Planeshift was like prior to this, but from what I read development has been steady and very promising. Sure the team doesn\'t have to meet ridiculous publisher deadlines but this hasn\'t prevented them from keeping pace with current technologies and improving the game engine progressively.

Importantly I think it\'s noteworthy that Planeshift is also based on other software (such as Crystal Space) which have their own development teams as well. This accelerates the development process and allows the game to keep up with the times and yet grow in features.

From successful open-source projects it can be seen that as long as there are a large group of people willing to contribute to the project, regardless of whether it is a part-time or full-time job, the project does get better progressively. Planeshift seems to be going in that direction IMO and hopefully more sponsors or developers turn up and drive development on at an even greater pace.

I\'ve also noticed that Planeshift has been consistantly ranked among the top 50 Sourceforge downloads in recent weeks. I think it\'s community support, involvement and interest that is really keeping this whole thing alive. And good for you all who are here making all this possible.

The characters will get deleted sooner or later (when the devs add new races).   :(

Hmmm I\'ve seen this a couple of times in the forums but haven\'t caught a dev mention anything like this before. Is it true? Or is it just too early to tell? Who said so?  ?(

Currently I can\'t say it\'s worth much attention. But I hope it\'ll be sth big. And that it\'ll remain free from charge... \'cause I have some bad feelings about that ;)

Um i recommend downloading it ONLY if u got a PC that can handle it. Id say u need at least a 500MHz system with a decent vid card to play this game at all (my PII 350MHz just dies) and in order to enjoy it even more u probabily want over 1.2GHz

Im thinking \'bout downloading this also...

Does it run well with little lag on a 56k connection?

Would it still be worth downloading?

Thanks in advance
