it's possible you got the shadercache corrupted and it's continually rebuilding shaders try removing them it's a file named shadercache which is in reality a zip in the planeshift config folder

thank you Weltall, but this did not help.

Have you tried getting GMs to move you to test new locations?

Have you tried deleting the -entire- .PlaneShift directory (the one that contained shadercache)?

->I used different characters in several locations. Always with the exact same result.

Have you tried deleting the -entire- .PlaneShift directory (the one that contained shadercache)?

->Good idea! We'll see if that works...

if you are using macosx 1.6.x there is a bad bug in opengl implementation which does exactly what you describe *there is no fix afaik from apple* the only fix is going back to leopard. a way to improve the situation is putting the opengl render window full screen at the same resolution of your screen normal resolution (reference: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=macosx106_ubuntu910_final&num=2 )

Thank you Idoru!

That's it.

I  had to delete both folders:

programs/planeshift

macintosh HD/user/library/application support/planeshift

as i've said it only reduces the problem it will still be there in all it's glory as you can see from the video. send some complains to apple maybe they decide for the third update to fix this which is quite shameful not being already fixed months ago. and it's not caused by the config except some "highly demanding" option worsens it but i'd have to try it in order to confirm.

20 seconds for every step... I wish mine was that fast, I've done every tweak I could find on google and I still haven't been able to play it.  I play this on my MacBook Pro because I don't like sitting at my desktop all the time since that is what I do at work all day long.  I've considered buying a new laptop (windows based) or just uninstalling it and waiting till it's fixed.  This game has really peaked my interest and I would much rather pay for it just so I could play it.  I really like the idea of opensource and free to play but if it's unusable what is the point.  I think you should start asking for donations and get this game on the court.  I'd gladly pay 15USD per month to play this game in concept, even if I have to buy a new computer.  Another thing, I fix servers and computers all day long I would much rather not have to do all that to get the game playable now or when patches are released.

I hope this wasn't taken out of context because I have great respect for this whole project, it's just frustrating because to me it's like holding candy in front of a kid but not letting them have it.

Jason you can feel free to donate 15 dollars a month when you're up and running.

I highly suggest you get on irc and get live help, many problems can be worked out by our support volunteers.
