Jaida's Search

Quote
"So it was that Jaida Pundactum left her home in search of her brother, threading upon the dangerous roads which lead to Hydlaa. Would she learn the truth of her brothers horrid deeds, and most importantly. Would she find him?"

Jaida was overwhelmed by how Hydlaa had flourished since her childhood, she walked through the north gate and sought herself to the center of the massive city. A feeling of being misplaced soon filled her heart as she threaded upon these once familiar streets. Having grown used to being surrounded by lush nature she swallowed hard at the sight of the massive iron construction which she had once called her home.
The shadow of the laanx temple which fell over the plazaa brought a icy feeling to her cheek.
In her eyes her past sanctum of worship had grown into being no less than a iron abomination.
The kran had always spoken of a sacred tree which stood peacefully in a garden which where assumed secret. Such rumors had always fed the flame that was her unwavering curiosity, but alas. Her visit in Hydlaa was not a religious one.
Not having any apparent strategy she scurried the streets and asked various strangers about Jacula's whereabouts.
Some had heard the name before, others seemed reluctant to share their knowledge. Yet no information of use was to be had by those she encountered.
Flustered but not in short of a good mood she decided to make her way to the local tavern. She decided to rent herself a room for the few tria she had, knowing her search might be a extensive one.
Nightfall embraced Hydlaa in a veil of darkness. Jaida leaned over the ledge in the tavern deep in thought. A fenki dressed in a extravagant dress sat below in the company of a klyros. they spoke back and forth, only stopping to take the usual sip of wine.
Jaida made her way down the stairs on eager feet, approaching the table. Her straightforward approach was well met by the fenki who introduced herself as Lolitra Purrty. Even though to her noble appearance and posture she was surrounded by a soothing aura. She gracefully invited Jaida to sit and the klyros was as well mannered as the monarch herself. He introduced himself as Dr.Forita, the way he carried himself made Jaida doubt her very own manners. She formally introduced herself, yet at the sound of her last name she was met by squinted eyes and a suspicious treatment.
She explained that she had come to Hydlaa in search of her twin brother, from which she had been separated from in her childhood.
At the sound of Jacula's name Lolitra reached over the table and gently grasped Jaidas hand as if sorry for her loss. Dr.Forita had a similar reaction, upon which he decided to impart her of her brothers deeds.
The words of the klyros brought tears to Jaidas eyes. Supposedly her long lost brother had been cursed by mysterious artifacts leaving him a murderer who had turned his back on both the octarchal decree's and sympathy for others.
A brief conversation followed yet Jaida's mind was focused elsewhere, her thoughts mirrored by her tears.
She excused herself and sought sanctuary in the room she had rented. crying herself to sleep as the rumors she had been imparted on tormented her through the night.

The promise of a new day held little joy as Jaida slowly accepted the possibility of her brothers deeds. Yet her tears and prayers soon transcended into a driven determination. She spent that day asking around Hydlaa, yet much as the first day no breakthroughs where made. As the azure sun began to set she once again sought herself to the tavern, her face drooping as she took a seat on the bottom floor by the fire.

"Lies and rumors"

After a while she was joined by a ylian who introduced himself as Garosan. They chatted for a while and the ylian could not have been more comforting. Her dreadful plight soothed by his positive outlook and encouraging words.
In her mind Xiosia had blessed her search, for as she mentioned Jacula Garosan explained that he knew his fiance, and had the means of contacting her.
With a flick of his wrist he summoned a groffel, making sure to write a letter for it to deliver.
Sure enough the little creature hurried away. Time passed and a gleam of hope could be seen in Jaida's eyes. Sure enough a beautiful nolthrir soon made her way down the stairs. She had flower's attached in her blond hair but her demeanor seemed to be a reluctant one. She introduced herself as Mellas, and she assured Jaida that Jacula was safe and that she would let him know that she searched for him. Mellas convinced her that the horrid rumors that she had been told was nothing but lies. Overjoyed she believed every word.
Mellas spoke of Jacula as a hunter, who's skill and strength was unmatched throughout the land.
As she laid herself to bed that night she dreamed of them meeting, of how he might look like and how he would be ever so surprised.
Jaida woke up early to the promise of yet a new day. With a empowered spirit she decided to enjoy herself a bit, confident that Mellas would impart Jacula that she was looking for him. She visited the secret garden as well as the mighty arena and the gladiators that resided within. Yet as the days passed her confidence shrunk, reduced only too foolish hope. She found herself sitting in the tavern yet another night, and the tria she had spent on her room had ran out. Had Mellas lied to her? she thought as a rough cut Diaboli walked through the doors.

"Fate"

Rigwyn rummages through his pockets and pulls out a few teal coins. He places them on the bar, takes the mug and raises it "Here's to luck"
Jaida starts to fidget the mug in front of her, her drooping transcending into a deep sight 'I guess I'll never find him' she says to herself
Rigwyn surveys the empty bar and then notices a lone ynnwn.
Rigwyn says: Find who miss?
Jaida looks up at Rigwyn swiftly before looking down into her mug again 'I'm sorry.. I guess I'm thinking out loud' she sighs again as she carefully places the mug on the table
Jaida trails her fingers over her chest before grasping her jade amulet, squeezing it softly
Rigwyn approaches Jaida slowing habitually looking her over taking note of he clothing, facial features, and an a strangely enticing amulet
Jaida leans back in her chair as she lifts the mug to her lips, savoring the sweet taste of her cider.
Mogweh walks into the tavern and up to the bar, he glances round and seeing Rigwyn his face breaks into a broad grin,'Hey Rig' he says before turning to Allelia and ordering a drink.
Jaida sets her mug down before leaning over the table, she looks up at Rigwyn as he approaches, shooting him a friendly smile.
Rigwyn turns to Mogweh and waves and then looks back at Jaida "Thinking out loud can be good. Who is it that you fear you may never find ?"
Rigwyn says: I know many folks around here.
Mogweh hands over a couple of coins and turns casually to survey the bar, sipping his drink as he does.
Thidin leans forward on the counter and looks to her left.
Despaira looks around the tavern as she taps her boots on the ground, stretching her legs for a moment before running out.
Jaida parts her lips in a hopeful smile, seemingly surprised 'Please sit, sir.' she says courtly
Mogweh sees Thidin and his face lights up into a mischievous grin. Raising his mug to Thidin he says,'Your very good health - Daughter of Xiosia' and gives her a small wink
Rigwyn pulls out a chair and sits while looking at Jaida curiously, "I don't mean to be so intrusive .. "
Thidin raises a brow
Jaida trails her fingers over the table 'Not at all' she says as she looks up at him 'Maybe you could impart me on the whereabouts of my brother'
Marqsaynt glances at the corner chair and frowns... then heads over to the bar.
Mogweh glares at Marqsaynt as he enters the Tavern. His grip on the mug of beer tightens as he takes a sip.
Marqsaynt sends Thidin a wink, and leans against the bar...
Rigwyn notices Jaida's smooth clean hands. Something strikes him as odd though he has no idea what. "Who is this brother of yours?"
Marqsaynt holds up a finger to Allelia "One of the usual, Beautiful."
Thidin shakes her head "What is with everyone today?
Marqsaynt looks over to Thidin "What's that?"
Rigwyn eyes again are drawn to Jaida's amulet.
Azilim takes out a skin and a mug and fills the mug from the skin with something that appears to be Red Liquor. He looks around the tavern, observing the others inside.
Jaida squints her eyes as they wander over Rigwyn's features, she tilts her head as she notices the scar upon his cheek. 'I came here in search of a man named Jacula.. Do.. Do you know where to find him?' she says with a hopeful expression
Thidin shrugs "Everyone is, odd. I guess you could say."
Thidin looks over at Jaida
Mellas enters the tavern and looks around. 'Well, busy day for Allelia,' she mentions.
Rigwyn's eyes expand slightly at the mention of Jacula's name but then return. "Dont think I've ever heard that name before'
Rigwyn says: Your brother you say ?
Marqsaynt sends Thidin a grin and jokes "Well, you'll be happy to know I'm not anymore odd than I usually am."
Mogweh's head twitches at the mention of Jacula but he remains silent, turning to greet Mellas as she enters the tavern,'Hey there Mellas' he beams,'you're looking a damn sight better that the last time I saw you' before sending a shooting glance to Marsaynt
Marqsaynt catches Mogweh's glance and raises an eyebrow.
Jaida continues to look Rigwyn up and down, as her eyes set on his she searches them intently 'What's your name?' she asks softly
Rigwyn smirks, "Well, some folks call me 'Hey You ' "
Marqsaynt looks over to Mellas "How are you feeling, Beautiful?"
Jaida snickers softly as she extends her hand towards Rigwyn 'My name is Jaida'
Mellas glances at Jaida and Rigwyn, sending them a friendly nod, and she moves over to the bar, grinning at Mogweh and Marqsaynt. 'I'm much better, thank you! But how are both of you doing? I must have fallen asleep again...'
Marqsaynt picks his drink up from the bar and takes a drink "No complaints from me."
Jaida does not even seem to notice Mellas gesture as she focuses on Rigwyn's features
Rigwyn looks towards the mural on the wall with a stare as if reminiscing "I havent hear that name since I was a kid. "
Azilim sips his drink and listens to the conversations going on in the tavern.
Rigwyn says: Met a girl once .. she had a amulet just like...
Marqsaynt looks back over to Thidin "I miss anything while I was on... "vacation?"
Rigwyn looks back at Jaida's amulet and then at up at Jaida again
Thidin just rolls her eyes "Oh you left?"
Jaida withdraws her hand as she parts her lips in surprise
Rigwyn says: No, your not ..
Rigwyn looks at Jaida with an expression of disbelief "Get out !"
Rigwyn laughs
Rigwyn says: Jaida?
Jaida seems shocked, only capable of answering with a stutter 'Ri.. Rigwyn?'
Rigwyn says: I cant believe it ! I remember you from the temple !
Jaida leans forward, placing her hand in the middle of the table 'By Laanx, it is you' she says with a gasp 'I can't believe this, it thought.. I thought you where gone' she says softly
Rigwyn says: What ? Gone ? No.. The ole man just had a bug up his .. er eh .. He was in a rush to get home.
Rigwyn looks downward recalling the events that followed on that day..
Jaida remembers Izalox and his cruel lies 'The lemur.. He told me that you where killed, struck down by lightning' she says while shivering slightly
Rigwyn looks at Jaida with a shocked expression "He told you that !? The only striking down that happened that day was me getting beaten until I couldn't get back up
Jaida recoils into her chair, yet her hand remains on the table 'That's horrible' she exclaims before setting her gaze on his scar again 'I never thought I would see you again'
Rigwyn says: And I you. But those days are long gone. I haven't seen the ole terd ever since.
Jaida seems to have forgotten all about her search for Jacula as she searches Rigwyn's eyes 'I.. I don't know what to say.' her eyes continues to search his as she blushes slightly
Rigwyn looks around the tavern for a moment and then back at Jaida with a sly smirk "We have some unfinished business from the past you know"
Mogweh takes a drink of beer then seems to snap out of his mood, leaning towards Mellas he indicates towards Jaida with his eyes and whispers softly,'She's been asking about .. Jacula''
Jaida taps her fingers on the table playfully 'What might that be?' she answers with a soft giggle
Rigwyn brings his hand close to Jaida's as if to caress it but does not yet touch her. He looks into her eyes as if asking permission.
Mellas moves closer to Mogweh, her ears perking up at the sound of Jacula's name. She glances over at Jaida and nods to the menki. 'Aye, I know, I've spoken with her. We'll see how much of what she says is true.'
Jaida looks down at Rigwyn's hand for a moment before gently trailing her fingers over his, seemingly unaware of her surroundings
Rigwyn places his hand atop Jaida's softly and whispers with an impish grin
Rigwyn says: "Tag ! Your it !
Rigwyn jumps from his seat and runs out of the tavern
Jaida breaks into a wide smile and follows Rigwyn
The two run through out of the tavern and down the steep stairs before reaching the temple where Rigwyn stops.
Jaida runs up to Rigwyn, a bright smile visible on her face 'You remembered'
Rigwyn stops and laughs somewhat out of breath "Yes .. you remember this spot ? "
Rigwyn places his hand upon the steel structure attached to the temple
Jaida walks up to the massive steel structure, pressing her cheek against it as she looks back at Rigwyn coyly 'I remember'
Rigwyn looks at Jaida again with a wide smile.. "Follow me !"
Jada runs after him, as they stop again her eyes widen at the sight of a beautifully crafted gazebo
Rigwyn looks at the Gazebo and then back at Jaida "This spot is usually very quiet. "
Rigwyn says: I like it for a number of reasons.. Lots of good memories here.
Jaida adjusts her thin robe as she continues to admire Rigwyn's features. She looks up at the gazebo before looking back at him 'You have grown' she says teasingly
Rigwyn smiles as he looks at Jaida's hair which was once held in place by a rather shiny barrette. and then back at her face "I cant believe it .. after all these years"
Jaida takes a step closer to Rigwyn, slowly letting her hand wander over his chest 'I thought you where dead.. What happened to you?' she asks as her ebon eyes glisten
Rigwyn says: It was a memory that I try not to revisit. I eh .. well, from that day on I was on my own.
Jaida clasps her hands together, seemingly still in disbelief 'I can't believe that we meet after all these years.. It must be..' she pauses for a second as she looks over her shoulder at the temple 'fate'
Rigwyn looks at the temple angrily "Fate is quite the word for it. "
Rigwyn says: That religion has cause me nothing but suffering and pain.
Jaida shrugs as she looks back at Rigwyn, gently placing a hand on his shoulder 'You can follow any faith you please, as long as you are happy' she says in search of his feelings
Rigwyn looks back at Jaida with a softened expression, "I suppose so. Truth lies within. Its just a matter of discovering it"
Rigwyn says: Speaking of discovering ...
Jaida lets her hand wander down Rigwyn's armored arm before tilting her head at his words.
Rigwyn says: Tell me more about this brother of yours. What does he look like ?
Rigwyn looks about the empty field carefully while listening.
Jaida seems to have forgotten about her search for a moment, she returns her attention to his question 'I have never met him, yet we are supposed to be twins.. Separated at birth. I came here from Hydlaa in search of him, yet all I've found is a strain of.. Disturbing rumors' she says with a drooping expression
Rigwyn says: Rumors ? There are many folks around here who cast lies instead of wielding weapons. The tongue at times can be sharper than then finest of swords.
Rigwyn says: I tend to be a bit skeptical about hearsay. What sort of rumors have you heard ? From whom ?
Jaida seems pleased with Rigwyn's smart answer 'You are right, horrid lies.. I heard from Dr. Forita that he had attacked a few people a while back, her highness Lolitra Purrty seemed to second his claim..' she thinks for a moment before exclaiming 'Yet his fiance Mellas, spoke of him as a good man.. A hunter, who's skill was unmatched'
Rigwyn says: I've never met this doctor Forita but I do know of Lolitra. She claims to be royal or something get there are clearly no monarchies in Yliakum. What is a kingdom without a castle or a kingdom for that matter ?
Rigwyn says: I would be skeptical about the claims of such a person.
Jaida nods softly at Rigwyn's comment 'Yet she is very kind of heart, but indeed you are right.' she fidgets her amulet before shooting him a playful smile 'You really brightened my day.. My failed search has got me down. More so than I would admit'
Rigwyn smiles at Jaida "Jaida, you know when someone is telling you the truth when you can feel it . here.. in your heart"
Rigwyn smiles reassuringly holding his hand upon his heart "Do you understand this truth ?"
Jaida places her hand over her own heart as she nods in agreement 'I do..' she says as her ebon eyes glistens in the light of the azure sun
Rigwyn laces his fingers together showing her how they fit perfectly "This is truth. It just fits"
Rigwyn says: Your brother must be a good man. I can feel it in my heart. It must be so.
Rigwyn says: It just fits.
Rigwyn smiles at Jaida admiringly
Jaida takes a deep breath as she listens intently to his kind words 'Thank you.. I'm sure he is' she gives him a sultry look as she adds 'Much like yourself'
Jaida looks down at her feet as a slight blush can be seen upon her cheeks 'I'm sorry.. I'm not used to the company of a man' she says with a shy smile on her lips
Rigwyn smiles wider in return, "I do know of Mellas. She has a heart of gold and an uncanny innate goodness about here. You can believe what she says"
Rigwyn looks down and then back at Jaida's eyes almost hypnotized. He smiles while thinking of what to say but his mind is blank.
Jaida seems reassured as she takes Rigwyn's words to heart 'Aye.. My brother must have done well for himself, having such a woman by his side'
Rigwyn nods in agreement "Yes, indeed. I have a very good feeling about her."
Jaida meets Rigwyn's gaze sharing his state of mind. She reaches out with her hand placing it softly on his cheek, trailing her fingers over his scar as if asking how he got it.
Rigwyn turns his face slightly as if to hide his scar but then tuns back "A mad man did that. He claimed to be a Laanx priest of all things. "
Rigwyn says: I have lost all respect for Laanx over the years. It seems that Laanx is a little too harsh for my liking.
Jaida withdraws her hand as he turns his face, weary that he might be uncomfortable by her touching him 'I'm sorry to hear that..' she thinks over his words for a while before answering 'You are still that sweet boy from long ago to me, laanx and your scar does not matter'
Jaida recoils ever so slightly at her own blasphemy
Rigwyn chuckles "Yes, still ole rig. Just a few more teeth and a scar or two."
Rigwyn says: I suppose scars can be healed over time .. At least, I hope.
Jaida clasps her hands together again, seemingly overjoyed by Rigwy's company 'I know they do, be it by time or the good in life' she admires Rigwyn's armor for a minute before asking 'What do you do for a living?'
Rigwyn smiles as he finally notices Jaida's gaze. "Well, I er eh .. " Rigwyn look down "Im not very successful Im afraid. " He looks back up and says "I do odd jobs when they come. Sometimes I mine, sometimes a make deliveries'"
Rigwyn says: In my spare time I like to spar in the arena. This might sound silly but I think he helps me to deal with feeling .. powerless.
Jaida tilts his head as she gives him a reassuring smile 'Succession is not measured by the nobility of ones job.' she lets her hands wander up her own chest 'Powerless?' she says softly
Rigwyn watches Jaida's hands as they move closer and closer. His heart beats a little faster.
Rigwyn nods regaining eye contact "Silly I suppose. Sometimes feelings dont make sense"
Jaida smiles coyly at Rigwyn's expression 'You don't look powerless to me' she adds before moving a little closer, watching his armor glisten in the sunlight. She carefully embraces him in a hug 'Feelings don't have to make sense' she whispers as she closes her eyes, leaning against him with her arms wrapped around his waist
Rigwyn wraps his arms around Jaida hesitantly at first and then gives a gentle squeeze. His eyes look about as if he feels nothing though his thoughts are consumed with Jaida "Feelings .. yes. Feeling can be quite strange at times"
Rigwyn inhales taking note of her fragrant hair, her soft and gentle touch.
Jaida looks up at Rigwyn as she parts her lips hesitantly 'how does this make you feel?' she asks nervously, not knowing how her conduct might be interpreted
Rigwyn smiles and gazes into Jaida's eyes. Unable to feel connected he lies "Warm, gentle, very very special"
Rigwyn says: Im very glad that we ran into each other. Perhaps this is fate ?
Jaida smiles warmly at his comment. She leans in a little closer, brushing her lips against his for a second 'Fate..' she whispers as she closes her eyes
Rigwyn looks at Jaida's face, her eyes. Seeing her lips he takes the opportunity to connect passionately. Though his appetite is peaked by her beauty his heart is hollow as if empty or perhaps missing something.
Jaida tastes Rigwyn's lips as they collide with hers. Never having been kissed before she feels her heart skip a beat. She leans back searching his eyes 'Fate..' she repeats softly
Rigwyn pulls back slowly with a satisfied smile as a thought pulls his attention away "Fate"
Rigwyn says: If it wasn't for that day by the braziers .. and all that followed. I wonder. Would we be ,,
Rigwyn says: Well..
Jaida places her soft hand on his cheek again 'You seem thoughtful, what are you thinking?' she asks warmly
Rigwyn says: I wonder.
Rigwyn says: Perhaps that was just a spot on the apple. Just a small part of a much larger picture.
Jaida squeezes Rigwyn slightly as she speaks softly 'Maybe so.. But this is now. And nothing matters more than the present' she slowly lets go of him before giggling softly 'All I know is that you made me very happy today'
Rigwyn sighs happily lifting his hands to touch Jaida's. "I hope to see you again. You too made me .. very happy"
Rigwyn chuckles at his own awkward choice of words and then steps back "I have a job that I need to take care of. Till next time .. "
Jaida giggles again as their hands entwine 'If you want to find me I will be around Hydlaa. And please, do keep an eye out for my brother'
Rigwyn nods, "I will Jaida. I will. Take care"
Jaida steps back and heads in the direction of the temple, looking over her shoulder from time to time
Rigwyn takes a few steps back letting go with his hands but not his eyes .He then turns and jogs away.

A warm, loving feeling filled Jaida as she entered the temple. Having grown up with the kran she had little experience of consorting with men, yet the way Rigwyn looked at her made her feel very special. She sat down in the very bench she had met him years ago with a permanent smile on her lips. Her day was brightened, and the hopeless feeling that had weighed her down before vanished. Jacula was still nowhere to be found, yet her thoughts was only with Rigwyn in that moment. When would she see him again?

[Big thanks to Jacula for reviewing this text. I would also like to thank Lolitra, Dr.Forita, Mellas Garosan and Rigwyn for the great rp  ::) I couldn't include all the logs since that would be all to much. Can't wait to see how this will develop!]

"Jacula's Way"

Jacula had sought himself to the tavern as had grown to be quite the habit of late. Well there a unexpected string of events occurred. Having indulged himself in a excessive amount of fyran liquor and other questionable soothing he found himself staggering up to his room, suddenly two men which he had earlier had an argument with grabbed hold of him. hauling him up the stairs before laying him down in a bed. The two blurred figures discussed something to do with laanx before placing a sword in his hand. Heavily intoxicated Jacula drew the conclusion that he was being attacked, thus he waited for the right opportunity before acting in what he believed to be self defense.

"Jacula suddenly grabbed the handle of the sword as he stabbed it towards Giroum, believing himself attacked, still barely conscious. Giroum's eyes widened in shock as the blade slipped between his ribs, the tip protruding from his back. He mouthed words but could not give them voice before slipping to the floor, dead.
“Noo!” cried Vilthis, surging Jacula`s body with dark magic..."

Under the impression that he was being attacked Jacula burrowed the sword deep into one of his assailants. The sound of tempered steel piercing the flesh and bone of another by his hand had grown increasingly familiar. A sound he wouldn't mistake be it smothered or muzzled by the crash of blades or cries of battle. His vision had grown blurred from the dark smog that had weakened him. The hollow thud of the assailant's body as it slipped to the ground could be heard over the noise of screeching cacophony that soon consumed the room. His muscles tightened as the dark magic slowly crawled up his spine. The entropic tendrils which held him in place soon tightened around his wrists and ankles. The torturous illusion the magic brought to Jacula's mind grew increasingly unbearable whilst Vilthis control over his predicament grew to be definite.
Yet the rattling tension that had claimed Jacula's body suddenly stopped, the tendrils that has kept him in place returning to the necrotic hand from which they had been spawned. Vilthis had escaped the scene and Jacula found himself slipping to the ground as he tried to stand. Malign rage burned within his heart as he crawled over the floor, only to find that the second assailant was nowhere to be found. Hours passed before he regained his composure, deciding to remain in hiding for the night where he would ponder about the man with the entropic hand.

The otherwise soothing serenity of the temple held little promise of relief to Jaculas troubled mind. trailed his fingers over the mystic metal of the altar, a few days ago he had found himself standing at the very same place. Severing his own finger in a deal sealed in blood. The red spectacle had hunted him for the last few months, he had earlier been approached in the tavern by one of their members. The seemingly fragile fenki had followed him into the sewers where her faith had been made clear.
He was perplexed about how well she seemed to know him, yet as all devoted to the temple the whisper speaks to those who are worthy.
She imparted him that he was hunted and to the blackflames gain they decided to make a deal rather than breed hostility in the temple. So it was that Jacula severed his own finger to seal their agreement in blood, allowing the fenki to claim the reward of his bounty. In return he was schooled in those who sought to end his life and the one who held the contract, Marqsaynt.
The diaboli was easily found in the local tavern, suspicious eyes darting to Jacula as he approached him. Marqsaynt's traits spoke of a person hardened by a life shrouded in crime and sin. Yet his leadership of the red spectacle seemed to had rendered him without caution, his uncompromising demeanor never wavering as Jacula demanded his contract to be ripped, and thus having to bounty on his head removed. Enraged by his decline Jacula swore to make him regret his arrogant decision, whereas Marqsaynt met his pledge with a promise to expose him. A dreadful storm plagued Hydlaa that night, serving as a omen of future endeavors.
Having gained a enemy Jacula wasted no time in planning his demise.

He withdrew his fingers from the mystic metal, realizing he had to gain a greater insight. He left the temple cloaked in shadow, arriving at jayose library as the first rays of the azure sun seeped through the land.
He had sought himself there in search of an old acquaintance. Lori Tryllyn would appear harmless to the untrained eye. Yet deemed unlikely by her fragile exterior she held a vast knowledge of the criminal underworld. To Jacula's dismay she had never heard of Marqsaynt, leaving him on square one without any information to work with. As he exited the library he encountered a face he had not seen for some time, the rough cut diaboli and Jacula had a rich past. Both attracted to the same faith and acquaintances.

Rigwyn looked at Jacula as he nearly passed him, He stopped and looked again. "Hey, I got some eh .. info. You might want to hear this." Jacula tapped the side of his nose two times and started walking, knowing that Rigwyn would recognize the gesture. He made his way into the east Hydlaa square in a seemingly careless fashion, the thuds of Rigwyn's steps could be heard close behind. He took out a heavy looking key from the inside of his robe as they found themselves standing before a large door in a building who stood as a annex to the square.
Jacula opened the door which made a screeching sound as it was pried open. He gestures up the stairs and climbed them slowly, the fragile wood creaking under his and Rigwyn's combined weight. "Someone has been asking questions about you." the diaboli said flatly.
Jacula scratched his unkempt beard and tilted his head as theory's began to haunt his mind 'Who might that be?' Rigwyn seemed as untouched as always as he replied "A Ynnwn. She looked like she was about you age.. and hot .. smoking hot." he looked around weary of eavesdroppers "She claims to be your twin sister .. Can you believe this? " Jacula laughed vaguely as he seemed to admire the stump remaining of his ring finger which had been severed earlier 'I've heard this before.. And she has my attention' he gave Rigwyn a strange look, unsure of his interest in Jaida 'You have consorted with this.. Woman?'
Rigwyn did not flinch for a second, Jacula had found himself pondering the Diaboli's demeanor before, having thought back he had never displayed any sign of anxiety or fear 'Yeah, well all this asking around that she's doing aint good. She's not hearing a lot of nice things so I had to eh .. redirect her. The loyalty Rigwyn had shown Jacula both in past and present had left the Ynnwn tolerating sarcasm and other clever puns he usually despised "She needed to be reassured that you are indeed the decent person that you are." Rigwyn said before adding
"I Tried to enlighten her a little about some of the vicious liars in this town who go around looking to smear reputations." Jacula noticed a smudge of blood on the pelt adorning his robe, staring at for a moment before he let his gaze set on Rigwyn, as if the world around him seized to exist. A state of focus which had grown increasingly common 'Thank you.. Brother. You honor me with your loyalty' he said, closely observing his reaction to his praise. Yet to his dismay there was no reaction to be had. Jacula let his gaze wander before it transfixed on Rigwyn's prosthetic fingers, contemplating what to do with his own severed stump 'Are you.. Fond of this woman?' he asked through gritted teeth in search of a reaction.
"Yeah.. not a problem.. Fond of her eh? " he answered with a seemingly sincere grin "I knew her when I was a kid. Met her one day in the Laanx temple."

"Yeah.. not a problem.. Fond of her eh? " he answered with a seemingly sincere grin "I knew her when I was a kid. Met her one day in the Laanx temple."

Jacula widened his eyes slightly, the magic shimmer that resided within transcending into a ebon glow 'Interesting.. And she claims to share my name.' he said thoughtfully before adding "What would you deem her intentions to be?" for all Jacula knew she might be a simple imposter, longing to end his life as much as the red spectacle. "She appears to be genuinely concerned about you, however that too could be a trick." Rigwyn said "I would say test her." Jacula gestures for him to continue his trail of thought as he pondered over his words. "If she is an assassin .. and learns that you are eh .. *gone* then she probably would not care much. If she really is your sister then her reaction might be grief or depression." Jacula cupped his chin in his hand as he fidgeted his beard 'I trust your judgment.. And the attention that surrounds my name has grown to be a plight. Which makes not getting noticed vital' he contemplated for a minute before he exclaimed 'Would you administer such a test?' Rigwyn nodded followed by a devilish grin "I sure could."
Jacula knew that Rigwyn had always followed through on previous jobs, making his offer one not to be denied. With a slight nod he confirmed his idea, yet Rigwyn's violent nature sprung to mind shortly after "She'll be tested carefully." the diaboli exclaimed interrupting his trail of thought. "Don't worry. We'll get to the bottom of this."
Jacula walked up to Rigwyn and placed his hand on his shoulder in a encouraging way 'I know you will brother' Rigwyn slapped Jacula on the shoulder "Any time.."

Knowing the matter of his alleged sister was in good hands Jacula could return to his contemplation regarding Marqsaynt and his goons. Malign feelings clouded his mind as he visualized the arrogant Diaboli choking to death on his contract, yet as his thoughts trailed off to his beloved he knew that the red spectacle might use her to get to him and thus such deeds might put her in jeopardy. With difficulty he restrained himself, knowing that his patience would reward itself in the end.
Days passed and Jacula kept a low profile, having learned from past experience that battle is best thought with deception rather then unnecessary violence.
The crystal shone bright as he walked the streets of Hydlaa, keeping an eye out for less reputable characters that might teach him more about his new found enemy.
A small groffel came running over the plazaa, tugging at the side of his boot. Jacula reached down lifting the animal by the neck, noticing how it had a note neatly strapped to it's collar. He removed the note sending the little creature on it's way with a nudge of his foot.
"Come to the Gazebo, there is someone I want you to meet - Rigwyn"
Jacula crinckled the note in his hand, being sure to toss it into the furnace by the nearby smithy. Light on his feet he made his way to the gazebo where he was met by Rigwyn, a unknown fenki and a person of small stature cloaked in a familiar white robe.

"And this is the other one?" A fenki said as Jacula walked up to the gazebo only to find that Mellas had been called there as well, recognizing the white cloak she wore he changed into a rather defensive demeanor. He turned to Rigwyn who had summoned him and nodded slightly as if to indicate respect 'Rigwyn..' he said flatly, The Diaboli returned the nod to Jacula before observing the couple "I'de like you two to meet Aces" the fenki looked Jacula up and down,
"You worth fifty thousand, eh?" she said in a joke full way, hardly amused Jacula put his hands behind his back in a determined posture as his eyes snapped to the fenki. Staring at her as if the world around them slowly seized to exist. "She's eh .. a very well respected member of the family." Rigwyn exclaimed before adding "You two have met?" The fenki matched Jacula's glare, but shook her head at Rigwyn`s question. Mellas turned around having noticed a presence behind her, she beamed as she realized who it was. 'Hey there love,' she said warmly. 'Got a note too, did you?' Jacula replied the fenki spitefully 'The worth of my services surpasses that.. Rather insulting amount' the fenki grinned, "I should hope so. Welcome to the family. Both of you." Mellas looked a bit confused from one to the other, then nodded at the fenkis words. 'Thank you.' in turn Jacula ripped his gaze off the fenki before putting an arm around Mellas waist answering her only with a slight nod of acknowledgment. "My name is Kaisa, though if we`re on a job I expect to be called Aces. Got it?" the fenki said in a seemingly sharp tone. Mellas slided her own arm around Jacula. 'Aye, Kaisa. I understand,' she replied met by a nod from Kaisa "So...what do we call you two? Beauty and the Beast?"
Jacula squinted vaguely as his eyes darted between Rigwyn and Kaisa. They soon settled on the fenki given her exclaim 'Understood, yet the nature of jobs to be had is still lost on me' he said followed by a false smile given her pun. Rigwyn looked at Jacula for a moment "I did mention jobs when we originally spoke. Things have been slow lately. he said before being interrupted "If you have the time now, we can try something. But seriously, names...?" Kaisa said as if growing impatient. Mellas raised her eyebrows, feeling a bit uncomfortable with the tension between Jacula and Kaisa. She made a mental note to ask him about that later on.
"We have been short on Intel. People to keep an eye on the marketplace, merchants, and eh .. those with wealth." Rigwyn said to break the tension, Jacula remained rather defensive being as Mellas was present. He looked up at Rigwyn again as he contemplated over his words 'What do i call you when it is job related.. brother?' he asked before glancing at Mellas, taking note of her behavior in the tense situation. Mellas smiled, a bit encouraged by Rigwyn's words 'Sounds more like my area, Dermathil is a very wealthy klyros. He sells books for great prices.' Rigwyn raises his hand and and looked at it answering Jacula's question with a crude laugh "How about stumpy ?" Mellas didn't seem to be very amused, Jacula looked down at his severed finger before making a gesture towards Rigwyn's prosthetic ones with a cold expression. "That`s one thing you might have to get used to in the family. Limbs and digits come and go." Kaisa said in a seemingly rehearsed way. "I know a menki who can help you with that" Rigwyn said as he looked back at Jacula before turning his attention to Kaisa "The menki with many belts .. seen em lately? " Mellas's eyes widened at the sight of Jacula's severed finger, leaning over to take a hold of his hand, examining the poorly healed stump. 'Good gracious!!' she exclaimed. 'Jac, what on Yliakum happened!?'
"No, actually." Kaisa answered Rigwyn. Jacula looked to her again as the shimmer in his eyes grew brighter 'Forgive my.. Weariness *Aces*. My trust and respect towards others is a mutual mindset.' He said as he noticed how Mellas glared at the fenki. Kaisa met Jacula's gaze with a warmer smile, "No problem. Cautious is better than stupid and dead." Jacula took a step into the gazebo as he looked over his shoulder at Mellas which followed him inside'A mere accident Melamin, nothing to worry about' he ensured her before cupping his chin in his hand seeming to ponder 'Although, there is a question that I need answered before we proceed with the formalities' Kaisa raised her eyebrows at his words whereas Mellas leaned against the railing. Crossing her arms as she kept her gaze on Jacula's severed finger, grumbling something under her breath. Jacula clenched his hands together as he approached Kaisa with a seemingly friendly demeanor 'I'll gladly resolve any problems that plights the family, however.. In exchange I ask for protection, not only for myself but for Mellas as well. Can this humble request be met by the family?' he inquired before being answered by a nod "The family protects it`s own...so long as you don`t bring too much heat down on yourselves or the family itself. The more you do for the family, the more valuable you are...and the keener I`ll be to protect my investment." Kaisa said in answer to his question.
Mellas looked up at Jacula as her expression softened. With a warm smile she moved over to entwine their hands, whispering a small healing spell for good measure to sooth the pain in his stump remaining of his finger. The fragile boards creaked under his weight as Jacula extended his left hand for Kaisa to shake as if in agreement. He turned his head to Mellas giving her a affectionate look 'What do you say.. Melamin?' he let his massive hand close around Kaisa's, shaking it a few times before withdrawing his own. Mellas replied to his question with a simple nod, waiting until Jacula and Kaisa shook hands before she extended her own. 'I'm sure we can be of use for the family,' she said reassuringly, yet beneath her calm demeanor there was a slight tone of uncertainty in her voice.

In return Jacula was sure that the family could be of use to him. He set out along with Kaisa ready to complete
any job put in his way, in return receiving the protection for both himself and Mellas which he so surely needed. And so it was that Mellas and Jacula joined the outlaws, becoming part of the organized criminal underworld. To Jacula the agreement was only a tactical advantage and a way to shield himself from his pursuers. Yet given Mellas goodhearted nature he wondered if she would be able to handle the pressure that would come with fulfilling their end of the agreement.
Many questions remained, could Rigwyn discover Jaida's true intentions? and would Marqsaynt succeed in his pledge to uncover Jacula?

Darkness and Light

Quote

A warm, loving feeling filled Jaida as she entered the temple. Having grown up with the kran she had little experience of consorting with men, yet the way Rigwyn looked at her made her feel very special. She sat down in the very bench she had met him years ago with a permanent smile on her lips. Her day was brightened, and the hopeless feeling that had weighed her down before vanished. Jacula was still nowhere to be found, yet her thoughts was only with Rigwyn in that moment. When would she see him again?

Days had passed since Rigwyn had spoken with Jaida. He hoped to find her in order to learn a bit more about her intentions. Sure enough he caught a glimpse of her outside the Laanx temple - and at a quiet time of day too. How convenient. He greeted her and then two began to converse. Jaida leaned up against the massive steel structure as she watched the little Kikiri nearby. She then looked up to find Rigwyn standing before her. Her lips parting in a joyfilled smile 'Rigwyn, how are you?'

Jaida moved up to Rigwyn and gave him a nervous hug as she blushed slightly, having trouble conducting herself courtly in his presence. Rigwyn looked at Jaida and smiled forgetting about his troubles. He reached out and returned the hug. "Oh, I think I'm doing just fine now. How are you?" Jaida squeezed him joyfully as he returned the hug 'I'm still searching.. But no luck' she said followed by a deep sigh. She then rested her cheek against Rigwyn's chest and closed her eyes for a bit. Rigwyn began to speak but was surprised at Jaida's affection. "Ah.. yes. For your twin brother. I'm sure you'll find him." He then placed his hand on her back patting it softly while looking into the distance somewhat unsure what to think.

Jaida looked back at Rigwyn, searching his eyes 'Have you heard anything?' she said with a glimpse of hope in her eyes, soothed by his gesture. Returning Jaida's gaze, Rigwyn shook his head left and right a little "No, I'm afraid I haven't. How about you ? Have you heard anything new about him ? Any information that might help to identify him perhaps - or that might give us an idea of where to look ?" Her search having left her in a hopeless mindset, Jaida leaned back against Rigwyn's chest, 'No.. I fear that I will never find him' she said with a sorrow-filled expression 'Apparently he has many tattoos and resides here in Hydlaa, but he remains nowhere to be found.. I fret the worst' she added softly

"Oh, don't worry. I'm sure he's ok. You said that he was Mellas's fiancee. Did Mellas appear to be worried about him ?" Rigwyn asked as he looked around. "You said tattoos ? " Jaida shook her head vaguely as she continued to lean against him 'She seemed reluctant to share information with me.. She told me that she would impart him of my search.. but I have received no word' she looked back at Rigwyn with a single tear running down her cheek 'Yes, many of them'

"A Ynnwn, with tattoos" Rigwyn said, "I do recall seeing someone like that but - no - this could not be your brother. His eyes were unlike yours. Though he did bear somewhat of a resemblance." Jaida seemed surprised as her eyes widened 'Resemblance?' she looked into the ground for a moment 'Who is this man?' Rigwyn waved dismissively "Bah, its not him. This guy had very dark ebon eyes. He was tall, strong. Don't worry, we'll find this brother of yours."

Jaida took a deep breath as she trembled somewhat 'But.. Who was this man?' she looked around before her gaze focused in on Rigwyn again 'It sounds like the man Mellas described.' Rigwyn laughed, "Not sure who he was but I don't think it matters. He was taken down just outside of the city by a band of thieves. They robbed him, violated him, and then poisoned him. His body never vanished, so I assume he's a goner. I heard the guy's name was Jock or perhaps it was Jack ? No worries.. surely its not your brother."

Jaida looked shocked at Rigwyn's words, she trembled slightly as she slowly walked over to the steel structure, sitting down against it with a horrified expression on her face 'What if..' she said before her voice trailed off. Jaida dug her nails into the soft soil with a grimace 'What if it was him?' she said seemingly about to break into tears. She looked up at Rigwyn as tears flowed freely down her cheeks 'Are you sure?' she stuttered with an upset tone of voice. "Well, I suppose its possible that it could have been him. Let me see .." Rigwyn said. Jaida clenched her hands together with a hope-filled look in her tear-filled eyes. Having grown to be a emotional wreck of late.

"Was your brother a believer in Laanx too ?" Rigwyn asked. Jaida shruddered "I don't know.. But if one where to believe the wicked rumors his deeds may have angered Laanx..' her voice trailed of again as she pondered over the unforgiving god she worships. "Well, this fellow apparently was screaming for help while he was being stabbed and beaten - he was shouting for someone named "Mel". I take it Mel must have been a guard or perhaps a co worker." Rigwyn said. He waited patiently and watched her carefully for a reaction.

Jaida gasped for air at Rigwyn's words as she broke into tears again. 'Mel.. That's Mellas' nickname..' could be heard through her sobs. "Oh and his face !" Rigwyn said, "I hear he had tattoos on his face.. Dark ones. Mellas ? M - Oh dear - You don't suppose ?" Jaida made a slight nodding motion as she continued to cry uncontrollably 'Oh no.. Jacula.. '

Rigwyn kneeled down and placed his hand upon Jaida's shoulder as if to comfort her. Looking closely at her face to see if her tears were real or if she was faking it he said, "There there. I wouldn't assume that it was him so quickly. Perhaps we should check with Mellas and see if she has seen him in the last few days. That would help to prove whether or not this fellow was him eh ?" Jaida shivered visibly, the soothing touch of Rigwyn seemingly comforting her 'I.. I suppose' she said as her sobs grew softer, seeming to be honestly devastated. Rigwyn looked away for a moment and then back at Jaida "If it is your brother then I eh - I'm sorry for your loss." Jaida looked down into her lap without answering, crushed by the possibility of Jacula's demise, tears continuously ran down her cheeks as she exclaimed 'I.. I need to pray for him'

Awkwardly, Rigwyn pat Jaida on her back somewhat uncertain as what to do. "Praying should not help. This man was dead as dirt. His body never vanished. Better to move on. Life is lived better in the present than in the past." Jaida cried loudly, now seemingly convinced of Jacula's demise. She shuddered as she stood up, not knowing what to do 'I'll never see him.. I'll never see my brother..' she said with a crushed expression. Taking advantage of the moment Rigwyn exclaimed "Blasted Garosan and his band of thieves! I'll bet it was them!"

Jaida looked into the ground with a flustered stare 'Garosan.. But.. No, that cannot be!' Rigwyn nodded, "That self righteous clown in tin and his friends. They act like they are followers of Talad but they really aren't." At this Jaida broke into a outraged expression as she dried a few tears with her sleeve 'But he was so nice to me.. That.. That deceptive snake!' she exclaimed loudly. Rigwyn smiled and nodded slowly, "Yes, their powers of deception are beyond belief, but don't tell anyone that I said this. They are very protective about this secret. They will torture and murder anyone who knows it or leaks it."

Jaida stood and kicked the large steel structure in frustration 'We have to tell the guards, we have to bring them to justice.. My poor brother.. He's gone' she says before looking to Rigwyn with tear-filled eyes. Not wanting to involve guards in his con Rigwyn shook his head sideways "No no.. The guards will never believe you. They have the guards fooled too. I suspect that his friends and him are part of some sort of organization. I don't know how many of them there are .. but I suspect its more than one or two. The last thing we need is for them to claim that you are mad or something. You have no proof to go against their word."

Jaida seemed to grow increasingly angry, her fury matched by deplorable tears 'Laanx.. Give me strength' she exclaimed out of habit 'What.. What would you have me do then?' Rigwyn sighed and stepped towards Jaida moving his hand towards her shoulder in a consoling manner "I don't know. I suppose I would let it go. I'm not sure what could possibly be done." Jaida slouched forward, supported against his chest as her tears streamed down his armor 'It's not fair.. I came all this way.. It's not fair' she said under her breath while her sobs grew louder.

Rigwyn began to feel a spark of guilt - A feeling that he hadn't felt since childhood. He swallowed and continued "Bringing his fold down would be very dangerous. It would require information that only an insider could obtain. Just remember what him and his Talad worshiping gang did and never forget. This is what men of Talad do. " He then whispered "Its no wonder that Laanx became so bitter with Talad."

Jaida cried uncontrollably into Rigwyn's chest, her words lost in her loud sobs as she is completely convinced of Jacula's demise. Rigwyn pat and then rubbed Jaida on the back as her body shook in his arms. His eyes wandered out over the field as he searched his thoughts and tried to avoid feeling for Jaida. Jaida wrapped her arms around Rigwyn, unsure what to do next. As her sobs grew increasingly frequent she excused herself, not wanting him to see her in this state 'I.. Have.. To... Pray' could be heard through the sobs as she shivered visibly, taking a step back.

Rigwyn grasped Jaida's hand beckoning her to stay. She stopped in her tracks feeling Rigwyn grasp, then looked down covering her face with her sleeve in an attempt to hide her tears. "Laanx won't do anything for you that you cannot do for yourself." Rigwyn said, "Better to take a small action on your own accord than to spend a day in prayer. It makes no sense for me to say "Laanx, come do my bidding", rather it should be the other way around, No ?" Jaida entwined her fingers with Rigwyn's as she stared blindly into the ground, she nodded weakly in agreement with his claim. Tugging her a little Rigywn led Jaida away from the temple and towards the plaza "Come with me. Perhaps together we could find a way to investigate this further." Jaida nodded weakly before following his lead, drying the last of her tears. Rigwyn gave Jaida's hand a slight squeeze and then smiled as he started to head towards the fountain.

The sat by the fountain dangling their feet in the cool refreshing water. "I do have hope that we can bring justice to these horrible men" Rigwyn said, "We just need to be cautious and careful." Jaida sat down soaking her feet as well, leaning up against his shoulder before looking down at their reflection 'How ?' she said softly, having ran out of tears. Rigwyn held Jaida firmly and sighed, "Give me time to plan. Things like this take a very long time to plan and execute. In the meantime, if you learn anything about these ruffians, let me know. Most important, don't let anyone know what you know."

Jaida nodded at his words, having been fully convinced 'You are right.. I wont' she turned to Rigwyn with a deplorable look in her eyes 'Thank you.. You are a true..' she seems to chose her next words out of digression 'Friend..' Rigwyn smiled looking at Jaida, "Perhaps there is some good in all this. Sometimes you get a little good mixed in with the bad. It can be hard to overlook the bad parts." Jaida kept her head leaned against his shoulder 'I was naive to think that I would ever meet him' she said softly 'But you are right.. Meeting you after all these years was a blessing' she said in the same soft voice. "A blessing indeed Jaida. Give me time; we'll get to the bottom of all this." Jaida gave his shoulder a slight squeeze 'Thank you.. I will do whatever it takes' she exclaimed sadly.

Seeing an opportunity to exploit her given her vulnerable state Rigwyn attempted to plant a few seeds in Jaida's mind. Words of truth, but used to steer her awry from her faith. A little now, perhaps some more later.

"When all seems dark and gloomy
When you feel like the gods have abandoned you
Like they left you in the dark all alone
When you feel no joy; when you see no light at the end of the tunnel
That is when you see the clearest.

At those times your mind if free of all illusions.
At those times you see things for what they really are
Oh, dark night of truth"

Jaida took Rigwyn's words to heart, knowing that she could fight through this hardship with him by her side. She leaned up giving him a kiss on the cheek as she listens to him.

"Light is only seen when something gets in the way,
When its obstructed by something."

Rigwyn leaned against Jaida lightly looking into the pool thoughtfully. She watched Rigwyn's reflection in the water 'Is there something troubling you?' she asked caringly. "No Jaida, I only wish I could help you more. Time will fix things." Jaida squeezed Rigwyn's hand in an affectionate way 'You are helping me.. Don't worry, I won't tell a soul about what you said' she says softly before looking up at the massive statue of Laanx.

"A Matter Of Faith"

Quote
"The red spectacle had hunted Jacula for the last few months, he had earlier been approached in the tavern by one of their members. The seemingly fragile fenki had followed him into the sewers where her faith had been made clear."

Nightfall was upon Yliakum, Jacula wandered the wretched streets where he had grown into the man he was. The poorly laid cobblestone shifted under his weight as the last rays of the azure sun where smothered in darkness.
The once familiar alleyways had grown to be but a grim memory, it's twisted shadows haunting him with every step. Jacula thought back on his life and the many life's he had ruined for his own gain. The blackflame had wiped his conscience clear, his guilt plucked from his mind. Yet a trait of past still resided within him, a voice whispering of his ill deeds and horrific acts causing a disgust against himself. Jacula shrugged it off at the sight of the fenki which had imparted him on Marqsaynt's hunt, having pondered her alignment he decided to test her. He approached with the intent of ensnaring her in a vicious mind game.

Jacula moves up behind Thidin with heavy steps
Thidin turns around but doesn't say anything
Jacula looks around for a moment as if lacking focus, his gaze slowly returning to the fenki before him 'It seems like we have a problem' he says in a surly voice
Thidin raises a brow "Oh?"
Jacula clenches his gauntled fist, having grown used to the stump remaining of his left ring finger 'Your.. Friend Marqsaynt refused to rip up my contract' he answers bluntly
Thidin rolls here eyes ""And I don't have my money either. I wonder whos fault that is"
A hint of sarcasm in her words tingled Jacula's new found fascination of violence. How he despised such notions. Yet given supposed alignment he restrained himself with great effort contemplating over the game he was to play before starting his act.
Jacula looks around again, his eyes slowly rolling back into his skull before his gaze snaps to Thidin 'Are you.. Attached to this man?'
Jacula shakes his head slightly as if dizzy, trying to remain in a imposing posture
Thidin narrows her eyes "Something wrong?"
Jacula looks down at his closed fist as if slowly drifting away from the present 'He swore to.. Dishonor my good name. In return I pledged that he would dine upon his insides, and that of his loved ones' he studies Thidin's expression carefully as he tilts his head at her
Thidin pauses a moment, her facial expression not changing, then says "Good luck"
Thidin think for a moment "Actually...."
Thidin sighs "Might want to keep him around."
Jacula breaks out in a rather understanding expression, his demeanor changing to a modest one 'I'd hate to breed hostility within us' he pauses for a minute at her exclaim before adding 'Laanx be.. praised'
Thidin waves him off "He is nothing to me. But, he is protecting Mellas."
Jacula shrugs as if disgusted by a sudden taste on his tongue 'Protecting in what way?' he says spitefully
Thidin pulls out a dagger and tosses it to Jacula, hoping he'll prick himself, "With this dagger."
Jacula looks down at the dagger as it lands awkwardly in his hand, he looks up at Thidin with a vague shimmer in his eyes 'Explain' he says flatly
Thidin nods "I had a contract to fulfill and when he found out, he hired Mellas to protect him. Now, I very much do not like it when people get in the way. I wouldn't have killed her though, because I don't go killing people I don't have to, but Marqsaynt gave me another option."
Thidin motions for the dagger back.
Jacula turns the dagger around in his palm, handing her the dagger with the handle fist 'Go on.. More' he says seemingly more focused
Thidin nods grabbing the dagger "This Dagger was dipped in a poison that with just a small prick of the finger, can cause someone to be paralyzed for only five minutes. Simply, with a prick of the finger she would be out of my way and unharmed."
Jacula seems reluctant at the idea 'We do not hurt our own without good reason. Let me persuade her instead, I'm sure she will break the deal she made.. For mine and your benefit'
Thidin rolls her eyes "For her mostly. Oh and disguise the finger thing too. She isn't to happy about that."
Thidin crosses her arms "Now about that contract."
Jacula takes a step closer to Thidin leaning towards her taking in her scent in a way most would consider disturbing 'Go on.. More' he says with a surly tone
Thidin leans back "Umm, right.... well..." she backs up "I can't talk him out of it. He is suspecting thing about us the way it is now."
Jacula gets a twisted look in his eyes before gritting his teeth 'Suspecting what.. Exactly?'
Thidin shakes her head "I don't know. I denied ever being affiliated with you. Lets just say the finger thing didn't go over to well."
Jacula looks around before staring blindly at Thidin 'What do you put first.. Your faith, or your *relation* with this man?'
Jacula extends his gauntled hand towards her 'Then you know what fate must come to him if he was to.. Proceed in these misguided notions.' he looks down at his hand before his glare is transfixed on her 'I offer my.. Assistance and that of others if that where to be the case'
Thidin nods "Don't give him any more reason to think something. That includes attacking him. Attacking him mean there is something you are trying to hide."
Jacula withdraws his hand at her nod 'Should I look with mercy upon a man who has pledged to show me none?' he seems to contemplate over her words before looking through his brow at her 'I wield no sword nor single blade.. Patiently I rest within the shade, I am your thoughts I am your fear.. Within your head I calmly leer.. For when I strike deception I wield, and my attack will be a sight unseen. For all this time he will have been blind to see.. His every breath belongs to me' he says, reciting a lesson taught to him years ago.
Jacula shrugs at his own words before his gaze wander onto her again 'I will give him no such.. Ideas'
Thidin says: Right.... good.
Jacula seems consumed with malign intent as he exclaims 'He will have his eyes burned and his tongue cut from his mouth, wandering the wretched plains of that dark wench for eternity'
Thidin says: Are you sure you are okay?
Jacula has a strange fluctuation in his way of speaking as well as random changes to his demeanor
Thidin narrows her eyes
Jacula looks into the lush grass, his gaze wandering into the foliage of the trees before they set on Thidin, giving her a strange look 'I want you to make a pledge to me, which I will return onto you'
The trap was set, and the fenki's true intent was to be revealed. If she accepted his pledge as he affiliated it with blasphemy she would be exposed as a mere chunk of useless misguided cattle, leaving her a danger to consort with.
Thidin doesn't seem excited "Why?"
Jacula takes another step towards Thidin, his demeanor changing to a hostile one 'If in need of additional help with Marqsaynt, I will provide this service. If I am the one needing help in this matter, you will do the same' he exclaims imposingly
Thidin shakes her head "I don't need any help with him."
Jacula looks down at Thidin given their contrasting stature 'I don't think you understand.. I want to see him suffer' he adds carefully, as if ashamed to admit it
Thidin doesn't seem afraid "What has he done?"
Jacula smiles at Thidin's unflinching response 'He has brought plight to my mind.' he says as his lips part in a sneer like smile
Thidin says: And?
Jacula leans forward, positioning his head next to hers as he hisses in her ear 'It's a matter of faith.. have you not learned to trust me?'
Thidin goes to push him back, away from her.
Jacula remains in place from her push, given his superior weight. He looks puzzled at her as he changes his demeanor yet again, as if playing a mind game 'I'm sorry, i didn't mean to make you.. Uncomfortable' he says before adding 'Now, please accept my humble request'
Thidin uses a strict tone of voice "Listen. This war between you and him is -not- a matter of faith. It is a matter of stupidity. You seem to be losing your own faith if you think this is but I am not surprised. You put your faith below things."
Ferocity could be seen in her expression as she stood tall against Jacula's antics. There was no doubt in his mind that she served the whisper as loyally as himself. And thus his mindgame ended, for Thidin had passed his test.
Jacula nods as if agreeing with her. His posture straightens as his demeanor finally transcends into a serious one 'Just what I wanted to hear.' he says before adding 'Forgive my behavior.. There are many impostors about these days. i wish you luck in your task and given your sharp senses and uncompromising faith.. I am sure it wont be a problem'
Thidin narrows her eyes "How do I know you are true?"
Jacula parts his lips in a sincere smile 'Seek out one very close to you.. He will no doubt impart you that I am.'
Thidin looks confused
Jacula looks around himself with a focused gaze before his attention return to her 'Contemplate over my words.. Until we meet again'
Jacula turns his back as if to leave
Thidin narrows her eyes "What about Mellas."
Jacula looks over his shoulder 'Leave her to me. And cause her no harm' he gestures to her ring 'I'm sure you have the same wish for your beloved'
Thidin covers up her ring "Yes, but I meant with you. I know you brought her into the faith."
Jacula looks forward, his back fully turned against Thidin remaining quiet for a while before exclaiming 'Does this.. bother you?'
Thidin steps in front of him "Where does she stand with you?"
Jacula is tempted to just walk through her, considering her question of a private nature. Yet out of a new found respect he halts himself 'We are engaged to be wed'
Thidin waves her hand "I could care less about that. But does she come before.... all?"
Jacula answers calmly 'Her talents has been of use so far. If you have a problem with that I suggest that you seek an audience with the master'
Jacula puts a finger to his chin in thought as he observes Thidin
Thidin shakes her head "The master does not need to know what he already knows."
Jacula removes his finger having pondered her concern 'Then *he* wills it. For I have received the rewards of my endeavor'
Jacula takes a step forward as if having the intent to leave 'Has you concern been soothed?'
Thidin smiles "Yes, but I doubt your's has."
Jacula returns her smile with one of his own 'Having seen your unwavering faith with my own eyes.. My concern has vanished'
Thidin nods "Farewell Jacula."
Jacula makes a slight gesture with his hand as he bows his head at her, as if to indicate respect 'Until we meet again..Thidin'

Night had consumed Hydlaa in darkness as he walked away from the scene, knowing that his dispute with Marqsaynt was to be resolved by a competent and unwavering devotee.
With weariness plucked from his mind he decided to head for the tavern waiting to receive word of Rigwyn's endeavors and his supposed sisters true intent.

"True Intentions"

"With weariness plucked from his mind he decided to head for the tavern waiting to receive word of Rigwyn's endeavors and his supposed sisters true intent.'

The thick and sweaty ambiance of the tavern filled Jaculas nostrils as he entered. The merry crowd around him raising their mugs high and clinking them together in what seemed like a celebration. Allelia had her work cut out for her as she quenched the crowd's thirst again and again. As the crowd huddled around him he was reminded of past endeavors which not even his customary drink of fyran liquor could soothe.
He made his way through the crowd and up the stairs. He passed by the narrow hallway to his right which led him to the balcony, a soft breeze caressed his cheek as he filled his lungs in a deep breath of fresh air.
A gloomy mist rode low over the filthy streets as Jacula leaned over the railing, humming a tune taught to him by the beggars who once called the very streets their home.
The mist below soon succumbed to the heavy steps of a Diaboli who had sought himself to the tavern as well.

Rigwyn twitches slightly as he picks up on a familiar voice
Rigwyn looks at Jacula attempting to make eye contact
Jacula stands leaned over the railing, looking down on Rigwyn with an unwavering gaze
A slight gesture of the hand could be seen by the Diaboli below as if indicating Jacula to follow him. Light on his feet he made his way down the stairs and out into the mist ridden streets to find Rigwyn standing leaned against a nearby wall.
Rigwyn looks at Jacula and then nods again whispering "follow me"
Jacula leans back casually against the wall of the building before following
The combined thuds of their steps echoed as Rigwyn led Jacula through the streets onto the green yard next to the temple where a handful of majestic trees loomed from the lush grass.
Rigwyn looks around cautiously
Jacula looks into the lush grass before his eyes snap to Rigwyn
Rigwyn says: Got some news about the one who says she's your twin.
Jacula puts his hands behind his back in a focused posture 'go on'
Rigwyn says: I tested her the other day. I described someone who looked like you and had a similar sounding name. I didnt want to let on that I knew you.
Jacula puts a finger to his chin in thought 'And her intentions?'
Rigwyn says: I told her your were beaten to death and permanently dead.
Jacula breaks out in a twisted smile at Rigwyn's words
Jacula brushes some dirt from the outskirts of Hydlaa from his unkempt beard 'What do you deem her intentions to be?'
Rigwyn says thoughtfully, "Well, I think she is sincere. She was clearly devastated when I said you were permanently dead"
Rigwyn says: I do need to tell you a few more things ..
Rigwyn says: I said that er eh .. Garosan, a follower of Talad was behind this.
Jacula seems focused as he listens 'Garosan.. I remember'
Garosan jumps down from a nearby ledge trying to land quietly
Rigwyn says: I said that he and his friends were very talented liars. They they had influence and were trying to smear innocent individuals with their lies.
Rigwyn says: I did what I could to convince here that he is an enemy. She appeared to be convinced.
The ylian sneaked closer to the two, the intentions of his spying unknown as he attempted to hide behind a nearby tree. Yet little does he realize that he is standing in the Diaboli's line of sight.
Rigwyn catches a glimmer to the right
Rigwyn says: Who goes there?
Garosan remains silent
Jacula clenches his fist having grown used to the severed stump remaining of his finger, he turns as Rigwyn's appears to have spotted someone
Rigwyn points at a tree "I saw someone duck behind that tree !"
Jacula looks over his shoulder at Rigwyn making a slight gesture towards the tree as he reaches for his serrated blade
Rigwyn's eyes widen upon seeing Garosan
Garosan hand moves for his claymore
Jacula points his sword against Garosan's throat 'don't move.. I'd hate to slip'
Rigwyn grabs a Bear's sword and a crafted sword.
Jacula tilts his head as he observes the strangely familiar Ylian
Garosan looks side to side at the two figures
Rigwyn says: Look what we have here ! A spyin tin man !
Jacula presses the serrated blade gently against Garosan's throat 'Drop your weapons, we don't want things to get ugly'
Jacula motions to Garosan with his hand trying to persuade him to drop his claymore
Rigwyn prepares his right sword for an epic swing "Better listen !"
Garosan chuckles carefully "You sure you want me to do that?"
Jacula turns the blade, the serrated edge brushing against the underside of his jaw given his smug comment
Rigwyn inches in as he prepares eagerly
Jacula exclaims spitefully 'Let's resolve this as gentlemen, shall we?'
Garosan says: Ah, presumably yes. If you would just let me kneel down I'd be happy to oblige.
Rigwyn laughs "So you can pray to Talad for a miracle ? "
Jacula looks to Rigwyn giving him a slight nod 'Kneel, and drop your weapon. In return I will do the same'
Garosan keeps a steady voice "If that keeps me from having to impale you again the yes."
Rigwyn swallows remembering that last time that happened.
Garosan flips the pommel of his blade up and carefully kneels down
Jacula points the tip of his sword against his throat 'Your sword' he exclaims imposingly
Rigwyn waits impatiently watching Garosan drop his sword. A puzzled look forms on his face.
Jacula looks to Rigwyn for a split second giving him a hardly noticeable nod as if to indicate what should be done
Garosan stays kneels slightly "Now you would remove that blade from my throat please."
Jacula quickly removes his sword before he retrieves the heavy claymore, throwing it away in a random direction
Rigwyn swings his sword at Garosan's neck fiercely attempting to cleave it off.
Garosan drops to the ground completely to evade the swing blade
Rigwyn's sword embeds itself in the tree just above Garosan's head.
Jacula takes a step back turning his sword in the palm of his hand before stabbing it downwards right before Garosan's face, missing him by an inch.
Garosan deftly moves his head to the side while trying to trip Jacula with his feet
Rigwyn lets go of his sword and sheathes the other.
Jacula tilts his head at the Ylian 'What did you hear?' he says with scorn filled look caught off guard as Garosans feet trips him, he reaches out with his arm to break the fall
Garosan chuckles "Unfortunately nothing" as he tries to grab the sword stuck in the tree with his plate mail gauntlet
Jacula lands with a heavy thud, his arm breaking his fall before standing up with a grunt given his weight. He aims a kick towards Garosan's face as he reaches for Rigwyns sword
Rigwyn unsheathes his sword and swings at downward at Garosan's head attempting to slice it open.
Garosan lets go of the sword in the tree and uses his arms to help absorb the impact
Jacula frowns as his kick misses it target, his foot slamming into Garosan's armored chest. He tries to dig his gauntled fingers into Garosan's eyes after regaining his balance
Rigwyn pulls his sword back and prepares to lunge
Garosan kicks at Jacula's hand "Hey I need those"
Rigwyn lunges his sword at Garosan's right ear attempting to thrust it through his head.
Garosan tilts his head forward
Jacula growls as his fingers are kicked, leaving them stiff and injured. He stabs his sword towards Garosan's face as he tilts forward.
Rigwyn draws his sword back attempting to drag it against Garosan's neck.
Garosan tries to drop his torso to the ground before he is hit
Jacula seems to get some sick pleasure out of the sight of his serrated blade cutting Garosan's cheek open, just missing his face.
Rigwyn raises his sword over his head with two hands and the point aimed at Garosan's back as he prepared to pin him to the ground.
Garosan tries to roll to the side to avoid being impaled
Rigwyn plunges his sword downward with an angry growl
Jacula tries to stomp Garosan's face to keep his in his predicament as he successfully avoids Rigwyn's sword with a roll.
Garosan grunts as he gets a boot in the side of the face
Jacula puts his whole weight behind his boot, trying to injure Garosan's skull as he presses down on the side of his face
Garosan swings his right fist somewhat blindly as the pressure on his skull begins to increase.
Jacula widens his eyes as Garosan's fist slams into the side of his armored thigh, he begins to stomp his head savagely with the intent of hurting him severely
Garosan kicks his right leg upward as he tries not to have his head stomped
Jacula manages to stomp Garosan's face twice, hurting his jaw in the process. He is kicked back as Garosan's foot connects with his stomach
Jacula seems frustrated and thus he dives towards Garosan, with the intent of landing on top of him.
Garosan holds up both feet in the air trying to push Jacula back with them
Jacula feels Garosan's leg's bend under his superior weight. He pins him down ending up on top of him, aiming a punch at his jaw with his reinforced gauntlets to worsen the injury
Garosan tries to grab the fist with one hand while taking a swing of his own with the other
Jacula squints as Garosans fist slams into his cheek. As his punch connects he feels bones break under his reinforced gauntlets, pummeling him savagely rendered dizzy by the ylians punch.
Garosan swings his armored fist again as the punches begin to hit less often
Jacula endures his returned strikes as they grow lesser. Garosan's face begins to go bloody from the vicious pummeling, the splatter soon covering them both.
Jacula begins to bleed out of his mouth as one of Garosan's strikes knocks out one of his teeth.
Garosan's vision starts to turn red and begins to blur as he reaches for the tooth
Jacula notices how Garosan's movement turns feeble, he pants from the repeated strikes. He raises his fist with the intent of putting all his force behind a final blow against garosan's bloodied face
Rigwyn having found an opening raises his sword over his head and rushes for Garosan swinging downward at the crown of his head.
Jacula withdraws his fist and stands up swiftly as Rigwyn's sword passes him
Rigwyn screams as he puts his weight into the blow
The mightly blow connected with the ylian's head, the sound of the tempered steel almost cleaving it in two stung Jacula's ears in a unusual way.
Garosan's vision turns black as he fades away
Jacula's focus is consumed by the morbid scene, he looks down at his bloodied fists with a disturbing grin on his face
Jacula looks into his hands as if fascinated by the blood they are soaked in, he trembles visibly at the sight
Rigwyn stands up and looks at Jacula while wiping his bloody sword against his own leg. He reaches down and picks a small piece of grey meat of his leg and then flicks it away.
Rigwyn says: Oh .. yeah. I told Jaida to watch out of this guy and his fold. Let er know that they are horrible deceitful folks who seek to smear innocent folks. I think she bought it.
Jacula turns his head to Rigwyn his malign urge having been satisfied. He stares blindly at him for a moment before exclaiming 'A job well done.. As always'
Rigwyn says: Is there anything else you would like to know about this Jaida ?
Jacula brings a trembling hand to his face, wiping some of the blood which spattered into his eyes away 'Do you think I should meet her?' he says as if considering his opinion
Rigwyn turns to Jacula with a confident nod "Yes, I think she's sincere though she does appear to be religious. She still wears a jade serpent bracelet. "
Rigwyn says: She seems to be a devout follower of Laanx. She spoke on several occasions about going to the temple to pray.
Jacula spits at his words as he looks spitefully to the temple 'That pack of abusive dogs..' he says as his voice trails off
Jacula looks down deep in contemplation 'Until we meet again.. Stumpy'
Jacula nods slightly to Rigwyn before escaping the scene

The blood on his hand's glistened as he swept an old tattered robe over himself. He tried to think back on the traits of the ylian before his face was pummeled into a bloody pulp by his fists, yet the latter sight seemed to push his other thoughts away. Jacula shrugged off the insisting feeling of enjoyment which filled him at the thought. He had acquired enough information to approach Jaida, now it was only the matter of finding her. Yet this endeavor was to be pondered thoroughly before taking place, or so he insisted. Would Jacula and Jaida finally meet after all these years?

"Dreams Of Past"

“The blood on his hand's glistened as he swept an old tattered robe over himself. Yet this endeavor was to be pondered thoroughly before taking place, or so he insisted. Would Jacula and Jaida finally meet after all these years?”

Jacula had decided to seek himself to the outskirts of Hydlaa where he had recently bought an old shack suitable for laying low. The dry wood creaked under his feet as he entered, observing what had come to be his sanctuary during the last few weeks. The shack itself had a simple design and had previously been used by a farmer who had used it as storage. He looked out the small glassless window to find the remains of shriveling hops on the field outside. Much like the shack itself the once carefully planted harvest had been reduced to a shriveled husk.

He sat down in a chair old chair which had been collecting dust for several weeks, leaning back as he took a deep sigh of relief. The blood on his hands had dried leaving a thin brown crust on his gauntlets. He carefully removed them from his swollen fists, placing them on a nearby table which stood in mid height on scrawny legs. His arms had grown to feel heavy as led after the brutal beating he had bestowed upon Garosan, his knuckles sore and flayed given the unpadded inside of his gauntlets. He leaned back into the chair placing his forearms on the wide armrests before closing his eyes. Soon enough his mind went blank and he drifted off into a troubled sleep, dreams of past slowly repeating themselves in his mind.

Quote
“She seems to be a devout follower of Laanx. She spoke on several occasions about going to the temple to pray.”

Three boys pressed themselves against the rough surface of a gigantic steel structure, watching as the wealthy devotees strutted into the temple for the customary Sunday service. The boys shivered in the cold air given their thin and ragged clothes. Starvation had plagued Hydlaa’s community of beggars for weeks, their scrawny frames and broken lips serving as a witness to their desperation. The followers soon gathered inside the temple, clad in exquisite clothes with pouches of circles resting in their belts. Their belly’s having grown fat by the backbreaking labor that plagued the working class.
The baronial flock soon clasped their hands in prayer leaving the small beggars a chance to enter the massive steel gates. The priests in the front spoke their heresy from the book of names, preaching for the masses with words such as struggle, repent and devotion.

"The priests in the front spoke their heresy from the book of names"
Feeding their fattened minds with the means to justify their disgust and arrogance towards those of lesser birth and nobility. Jacula’s eyes widened as he spotted the collection plate which was passed through the flock, the vague clink of circles dropped onto the metal plate cutting through all other sounds that could be heard. The boy swallowed hard as he took a seat on an empty bench close to the exit, his two accomplices remaining close as they shook out of fear of what might happen if they were caught.
The intricate plate was swiftly passed down the rows of benches to an elderly menki who sat in front of Jacula. Slowly he lifted the plate which had been filled with nothing but circles, turning around to pass it along. His dull grey eyes widening at the sight of the scrawny ynnwn who ripped the plate out of his hands and ran with all his might.
The menki snarled loudly, the attention of the flock shifting from the sermon to the rows in the far back ‘Theif, stop him!’ he exclaimed loudly upon which one of the clergy initiates which had remained standing in the middle of the aisle darted after him.

The three boys ran as fast as their scrawny legs could carry them, careful not to drop the intricate plate Jacula had trouble keeping up with his accomplices. Panting heavily as starvation had taken its toll on him. Swift steps could be heard behind him, an enraged Xacha approaching with his cane raised high.
A loud crack could be heard as the cane smacked the back of the boy’s head, upon which he dropped the plate. The vague sounds of circles clinking against the ground could be heard as Jacula fell face first onto the filthy cobblestone, his ears ringing and his head pounding from the heavy blow.
Desperately he reached for the scattered circles on the ground, trying to stuff his pockets which as much as they could carry. But yet another lash of the cane to his back made him twist in agony forcing him to look up at the Xacha standing over him, raising his arms as if to protect himself.
Gartold sneered at the thief who laid helplessly before him, he pointed his cane directly at his face as he forcefully exclaimed ‘Laanx is a vengeful god child, your sin has angered him and he casts you out!’ Jacula was too afraid to answer, he crawled backwards on the cold stone surface. Tears rolling down his cheeks as the Xacha raised his cane again “this will teach you to fear the masked god!’

Jacula awoke with a scream, ripping the armrests out of the chair sockets breaking them into splinters. He gasped for air as cold sweat rushed down his brow, realizing it was only a dream. He placed his face in the bloodied palms of his hands as he regained his breath, slouching forward where he sat. A strange sensation came to him as a tear sought its way down his poorly shaved cheek. Enraged he stood up, his sorrow soon transcending into a violent outburst as he grabbed the chair before slamming it into the wall. He looked down at the wooden debris scattered over the dusty floor as he defiantly dried his tear. ‘Laanx and his pack of dogs be damned!’ he exclaimed furiously. In his mind there was no excuse for Jaida to devote herself to such faith.

[ When I read this I wanted to jump out of my seat and cheer Jacula on "Drag her down !", "Drag Her Down !"
Then I came to and realized I was sitting on a silent but crowded train full of ordinary commuters - Heh heh - that
would have been awkward. ]

[ Thanks for the kind comments, and in return I must compliment all of those who has contributed to the RP so far. I feel as if a lot of creative energy has come from this event and it has inspired me for future endeavors. I am aware that the PS community is going through a rough time right now. But I say let's all pitch in and try to involve as many people as we can, Especially those new to the game. I often hear how role playing was better in the good old days, but in my mind there is no reason why we cannot enter another golden era. Keep up the excellent work guys, you inspire me to keep on going  ]

The Decision

Shangshi had been walking round Hydlaa as he always did, proudly and without fear, his head was racing with what he knew of the alliances and deals being made and broken by the criminals hiding in the shadows in Hydlaa. He wandered towards Harnquist, and stopped as he saw Zalloh, the crazy wench mother of Rigwyn. At their last meeting he had imparted some of the unpleasant truths of her son, and had resulted in her throwing a candle stick at him. Nobody does anything like that to him, without something coming back to them. But there had been something other than that which had struck him. Something about her that would make her perfect for something that had been evolving for years, if only he could put his finger on it he felt sure he would succeed. From the time of Xeonart, before Jacula had first raised his head above the din making a name for himself he had been working towards this and the more he pondered on in the more he felt sure she would be the one. But he want to be sure, so only time would tell. And so, he had looked for Zalloh from time to time and being in no rush, the inevitable cannot be avoided.
.
.
Shangshi walked up and stood behind Zalloh “Hello again Zalloh, I hope your head has calmed.” She spun round quickly, surprised to hear her name, pondering she looked up him “You do look familiar.. Did we meet in Kada El's perhaps?”

Shangshi smiled “Yes, we did, I have the distinct memory of you throwing a candle stick at me.” Zalloh suddenly remembered and covered her mouth gasping “Oh! I’m so sorry about that! I was a little... upset that day.”

Shangshi scowled and ran a hand through his hair, thinking back, he had enjoyed the look on her face when he had told her. And he still owed Rigwyn for a little known incident outside of Hydlaa. “Well, if I had heard the same truths about a child of mine I imagine I may have been the same.”

Zalloh sulked and looked down as if embarrassed “Please understand. I was not quite myself that day. I... I hope your ok” and looked at Shangshi as if looking for forgiveness. Her face softens a little and her gaze moved from his eyes to his forehead. “Of course, I am fine. It was not the first thing I’ve had thrown at me.” She responded “I assure you sir, It will never happen again.  How can I ever make up for this? Could I make you something? Perhaps a nice home cooked meal, or a handmade Xiosia figurine like the one I wear?”

Shangshi frowned, a slight hint of annoyance in his voice and raised his hand “No, thank you, and I’ll believe you when it doesn’t happen again. Have you managed to find that son of yours yet?”

Zalloh sighed and looked down “No, I fear that the rumours may be true. I’ve been told that I should stay away from him. That he is... trouble.”

Shangshi essentially ignored the apology and immediately began hitting out again at Zalloh. He nodded his head “I think that would be fair, I could imagine how someone like that may have resentments against their parents.”  Zalloh raised her voice pointing a finger at Shangshi's nose “You listen to me young man! I did my best to raise him! I gave up everything just so he could have a home!” and then spitted on the ground “How dare you!”

Shangshi scoffed and shook his head “How dare I!!... I have seen your son, and it seems that the best you could do was worse than nothing...” Gasping Zalloh’s eyes went wide, her expression turned from shock to rage “You! I should put you over my knee and beat you with the wrath of Laanx!” She ran to Shangshi and pulled his left ear, his head was pulled to one side abruptly so brought his arm up to grabs hold of Zalloh's wrist to prevent her from pulling it off completely. “Laanx's wrath would not come down upon me, I have had nothing to do with him raising.”

Zalloh squinted hard at Shangshi “How dare you grab me like that! I’m at least twice your age, child! Let go of me immediately!” He tilted his head slightly “As you wish.” and pushed hard through Zalloh's arm to move her away “The audacity of your actions are quite beyond me. You should not take your problems out on me.”  He slipped, he allowed the slightest of views behind the vale everyone sees as he looked at Zalloh “You might be wary and listen to me.”

Zalloh stumbled back a little as she lost her balance and stared at Shangshi. For a moment she was speech less. Shangshi quickly regained his composure and smiled “Perhaps you are right, I shouldn’t have, grabbed, you.”  Zalloh then grasped her wrist and rubbed it lightly "What do you know about raising a child?"

Shangshi calmly ran a hand through his hair again “A fair bit more than you by the looks of it, I can’t name a single person mines supposed to have killed.” Zalloh inhaled making a loud gasp. Her eyes and mouth widen as she raises her right hand as she prepares to slap Shangshi. She swung at Shangshi 's face with a bitter, teary scowl. He turned his head slightly looking at the hand as it hits with a fiery sting that spread through his face.  Zalloh followed through with the slap until her hand reached her left ear. She looks upward slightly as the sound resonates.

That was it. The devout blind less believe in another. The anger inside her fierce when released, this is what he was hoping to see.

Shangshi rubbed his cheek as he flexed his jaw, and glares over at Zalloh. “Does that make you feel better? Are you a good mother now?” Zalloh shook her head and beings to wait as Shangshi's words hit home, and as they do, without a word she runs off giving Shangshi a rather confused look.

Zalloh's mind was flooded with wild, untamed emotions. It was too much; she had to get away. She ran and then stopped. She turned and ran again not knowing where to go. Finally she found herself looking into the fountain in the centre of the plaza. She peered into the water only to see in it a confused, teary-eyed Dermorian staring right back at her. She gasped as she asked herself “Is that really me?”

Her moment of self reflection came to a halt as a lithe Nolthrir figure with blond hair appeared in the reflection. Her voice was familiar. It was the same woman that she had met at this very spot some time before. She had confided in Mellas about her son, Rigwyn, and was under the impression that he was doing rather well. Despite the contradiction between Mellas's account and the one that so many other folks had given her she chose to believe Mellas.  One again, she reached out to Zalloh to see what was wrong and the two began to talk.

Shangshi smiled and shook his head as he watched  Zalloh run off towards the fountain. A game of hide and seek? He thought to himself. He walked, in no particular rush to the fountain and as he reach the spot Zalloh had darted behind he heard "The rotten elf!" and then saw Zalloh point at him "He said I’m a bad mother!"

Looking, he was surprised to find that Mellas had somehow appeared from nowhere. She looked from one to the other and blinked. “Shangshi, why did you!?” she said as Zalloh began to lose her footing. Shangshi stopped, still rubbing his face a little glaring at Zalloh as she started to wave her arms. He said to Mellas “You do know who her son is don’t you?”

With a great splash Zalloh fell backwards into the fountain! Mellas quickly jumped in after Zalloh and tried to help her up. “It's alright, you aren't a bad mother, not at all.” And then nodded to Shangshi. “Gives you no right to judge!” she exclaimed. Spitting out a mouth full of water and looking around in shock Zalloh reached out in Mellas's direction and instinctively grabbed on to her. Mellas pulled Zalloh up by lifting her under the arms. “Easy there, it's going to be okay, just stay calm.”

Meanwhile Shangshi approached the fountain and leans towards it slight, placing a bent leg on the slope “I have a right to say what I think!”  Mellas shook her head “You don't have the right to judge though!”

Zalloh managed to stand with Mellas' assistance. She looked at Shangshi but holds her tongue. Mellas kept her arms around Zalloh to give her the time to find her balance as she continued to berate Shangshi “So watch your words, Shangshi!”

Shangshi looks between them and spouts at Mellas “You know what he is like, you think someone like that just decides to be like that one day. No!” he shakes his head a little “It’s always been in him.”

Mellas glared at Shangshi. “What exactly do you mean?” while Zalloh nodded hesitantly and gulped while listening to Shangshi “What are you saying?”

“His, what seems to be pleasure, in gutting people? That is something that is driven into you.”

Mellas bit her lip and glanced at Zalloh before she replied softly. “Her son is doing well, he is learning and I have hopes.” Zalloh shook her head in a pleading manner “No! No! I followed my Husband's directions to the tee. He's a Laanx priest. He would know. Izalox is a very well respected priest!”

Shangshi clenched his jaw and took a few calming breaths “Then, it is your husband and yourself who are to blame.”

Mellas , assuming that Zalloh has regained her cool, let's her go, but holds her hand instead. “What does it matter who is to blame? What matters is what happens now.” Zalloh looked to her nodding "yes" and shaking her head sideways said “I didn't.. I.. It’s not my fault.”

Shangshi can’t believe what he is hearing at this point, is Mellas really that stupid and that gullible? From just a few lines of, no doubt, rehearsed rhetoric from Rigwyn has he managed to blind her from everything he is? Surely not he thinks..... unless. A new though interests him.

Shangshi let out a deep breath as he rubbed his hands together and linked is fingers in front of him. “Maybe your right Mellas, maybe what happens now is all that matters.” She then squeezed Zalloh's hand encouragingly and looks between the two. “Now, you've told me what happened, you did your best. Rig grew up into a big boy, but he wants to learn too...” and nodded slowly, thinking back to a time when she spoke with Rigwyn in the dungeons.

Zalloh asks asked her “Do you think I should report him to the authorities? Perhaps it would only be right for them to know of his actions and these accusations that I've been hearing?”

Mellas starts laughing. “You mean to report Shangshi?”

“No, Rigwyn.” Zalloh responded. And looked to Shangshi to see if he agreed “Do you think so too?“

Mellas looked a bit uncertain, but then brightened up. “No. Whether they're true or not, I doubt a jail will make him feel any better.” And then chuckles. “If what was said is true, which I doubt, then he'll just need lots of love. And really... no one ever gets enough love.” giving Zalloh a happy hug, she looked at Shangshi and tilted her head. “What do you think?”

Shangshi sighed, he was right, he had to be right. There can really only be one reason why she saying these things, either she is trying to be clever or is being really stupid, he would have to see which. He stepped back off the fountain and looked disbelievingly at Mellas “What!!.....Hang on... You’re crazy. -If- they are true or not is not the matter here.”

Zalloh looked over Mellas' shoulder at first but then warms up, squeezing back. “No, I think your right Mellas, I shouldn't give up on him yet” Mellas leaned back and searched Zalloh's eyes. “That's the way!” she said with a bright smile. “He rescued me once, you know?”

Zalloh said “He did? Oh! I knew he was special!” Mellas nodded once and pointed up at the ledge by the tavern.  “I was wounded, and he came to me, healed me.”

Shangshi looked with disbelief at the lies Mellas was polluting Zalloh with, even more can’t believe how simply Zalloh’s temperament was changed, he could only put it down to the ‘unwavering love’ he had earlier labelled her with. So he just shook his head with a daft smile on his face.

Zalloh smiled brightly as she wiped her tears from her cheek with her wrist and said to Shangshi “No, it’s the truth. It feels like truth. It must be right! I knew he wasn't one of those fanatics that I've been told about.”

Mellas simply smiled contently. “Yes, no matter what others say, there is goodness within him.”

“Thank you so much!” Zalloh said looking back at Mellas and the reached out to give her a big hug. This took her a bit by surprise, but happily hugged her back. “No need to say thanks for the truth.” She then stepped back to help guide Zalloh with her, out of the cold water.

Shangshi resisted staring blankly at Mellas, there was something else going on with Mellas. He knew what it was, the Family had got their clawed hands into someone else ‘Good to know’ he thought to himself.

Zalloh let some of the water runoff her before looking back at Shangshi “See! It feels good and she agrees.. It has to be the truth. It just feels good.”

Shangshi's expression turned to one of resolve as another truth is revealed to him. “Of course it feels good to you. You are blind to all but that you wish to hear.” Mellas continued to fight beams at Zalloh and followed her gaze to Shangshi. “Whether you like it or not,” she teases. “It's true.”

Zalloh walked to Shangshi holding her hand towards his face as if to caress it “I'm so sorry!  You really got me upset you know.” She then sniffled and smiled subtly. Mellas followed her, looking at the red spot on Shangshi's cheek.

Shangshi just stood and looked down at Zalloh's hand. Zalloh reached over and attempted to touch Shangshi's cheek. “Oh Xiosia, I left a mark. Please forgive me.” Shangshi looking down, decided to take her hand so gripped it firmly. "I'm glad that you are sure in your belief."

Mellas moved over and gave Shangshi a nudge. “I think you should keep your girlfriend in check, her gloominess is rubbing off on you.” she chuckles. He nodded “If that’s what you want Zalloh, you are, forgiven.”

“Xiosia must have sent you sir. Your such a patient young man.”

Shangshi groaned inside ‘Another reference to the goddess of the fence.’  The way things had turned on him infuriated him. He pondered how he could use it... Mellas smiled happily. “That's the Shangshi I know.” Zalloh continued “Goddess bless you.”

Shangshi's mind raced quickly and stopped as a though popped into his head. Looking to Mellas he smiles “She isn’t gloomy, at least not when I’m around.” He said in reference to his girlfriend.

Mellas laughed. “That's a relief, means there's hope for her too.”

Zalloh looks at Mellas and back at Shangshi "Woman trouble? Care to talk about it?" He shook his head "I've no woman troubles. At least not that any women I know tell me about."

"Man troubles?"

Mellas shrugged. “She's been doing the same things Rigwyn is said to have done, so I just hope they aren't true.”

Zalloh seemed to have left the conversation on her own little tangent at this point.

Zalloh looks Shangshi over “You don’t look like the type though..”

Mellas looks amused at Zalloh's comment and giggles.

Zalloh looked at Mellas and back at Shangshi “Oh goddess .. I’m sorry to hear that”

Shangshi looks between the two, still amazed by the swift turn of attitudes since Mellas' arrival. He frowned a little looking at back at Zalloh "Look the type for what?" Zalloh placed a hand on Shangshi's shoulder and smiles with an all accepting motherly smile “It’s quite ok dear. Some men... well, you know.." Zalloh winked “I won’t tell.”

Mellas didn’t quite seem to understand what Zalloh was talking about, but decided that she doesn't mind either.

Shangshi tried to correct Zalloh “I think you have the wrong impression Zalloh.”

Mellas looks from Zalloh to Shangshi and chuckled. “Well, both of you, just don't give up on anyone, 'kay? I'll be heading on to winch.”

Zalloh gave Shangshi's shoulder a firm squeeze “I understand.” Then says “Ok Mellas, see you again some time.”

Mellas turns and waved at the two. “Be safe alright, just send a groffel if you need me.”

Zalloh said “Hopefully under better circumstances. And I Will do.”

Shangshi shook his head a little as Mellas departs "Well, I think I should head off as well. I’m sure I will see you again Zalloh.” She replied “Ok, sir.... Hopefully we meet under better terms.” Zalloh looked at Shangshi awkwardly at first but then erases it with a smile and a wave "Goddess bless"

Shangshi ran his thumb over a ring he had under his gloved hand and smiled. Turning he slowly walked off.
.
Yes, she would be the one....

Melly snickers. Can't really believe this RP made it into a post. Mellas' behaviour here was partially based on my own extreme happiness. I wanted to hug the world! Actually, I still feel like that! *loves and hugs the world* xD

It's really great to have more of an inside on Shangshi's mind. Cunning with a capital 'C'. And it's interesting to see how he's analyzing characters and their reactions. I could tell you why Mellas did what she did, but that wouldn't give you the fun of finding out the truth, would it? ;) Back in the day Mell spent some time with Rig to figure out what was wrong and how she could help him, so it's nice to see some past RP's finding their way back in the game... and I wonder what Shangshi is up to with Zalloh? Hmm...
