Shangshi had just returned back from Ojaveda, a fruitful venture where he was sure he had come across Jacula playing one of his many games with a poor Ylian girl. Entering into the secret garden he stopped, standing in the shadow of effigy of Xiosia and knelt and gently picked a single snow bud. Standing with an apparent serene calmness, a gentle breeze disturbed his top knot and he smiled looking down at the twirling the flower in his fingers. A thought jumped into his head then ‘Should he have done something to help?’ a smirk pulls at that corner of his mouth as the thought is quickly thrown out.

A second sweeter breeze swirls rounds Shangshi. Closing his eyes he tilts his head back and breaths deeply.

A blemish on the beauty of the garden then suddenly appeared. A deplorable yulbar entered and sniffling at the air, clumsily made its way over to Shangshi. Tugging at his leg it tried to get Shangshi’s attention before dropping what could only just be called a note between his legs.

Frowning down at the little beast at his feet, he smiled inside to himself. Shangshi bent down and picked up the note and read it.

'Meet me where the whisper is host' the note is signed with a smudge of blood

Shangshi looked at the attempt of a signature and thought to himself ‘Good, been looking for you.’ Crumpling the note and flower in his hand, he conjured a blinding heat incinerating both items. Rubbing all the ashes together he then brushes his hand off, letting the ash be carried off by a stiff breeze. Taking one last breath, he left the garden.
.
.
.
The putrid air rising out of the sewer opening felt like it tainted him as he breathed it in, but without hesitation he slid down the ladder and took the familiar bends and turns to reach his goal.

With a grind and heavy clank he entered the temple.

Silently walking through the temple towards the alter he waited in the shadows, watching the figure waiting for him before stepping shadows and simply saying “Yes?”

Jacula, who had been waiting for him slowly turned, sweeping his hood from his masked face and letting out a disturbing screech from between his lips “It seems as if we have a serpent slithering in the grass within our enclave.”

Shangshi observed Jacula carefully, taking nothing at face value and noting all the disfigurements he can see. He frowned as Jacula spoke, more annoyed by it than anything else “What made you come to that conclusion?” Wondering if it was him he was talking about, but willing to play the game.

Jacula’s hood fell to his shoulders, exposing his badly burnt ears. He smacks his disfigured lips as his malevolent eyes wandered over Shangshi “Information that is supposed to be secret made its way to a person not worthy.” He watched Shangshi’s reaction closely as a spiteful snarl fills the room “Do you know anything about this.... Brother?”

Shangshi rubbed the two palms of his hands together, then holding one palm up to catch his mask as it fell away. They knew who each other was, no need for the charade. “No, I don’t. Who are you talking about?” Did Jacula really consider betrayal from Shangshi? The thought lingered in his head as he added ‘fool’ to it and ran a hand though his hair looking at Jacula.

Jacula removed his mask in turn, revealing his disfigured face. His skin seemed to have been badly scorched, his features would strike horror into most. He stared at Shangshi for a moment, and took his tone as honest, seemingly convinced that he had nothing to do with it “I have suffered at the hands of my alleged sister.” He trailed his fingers over his disfigured lips as he squints “There was no way that she could know where I resided, someone must have informed her..... And I am certain this snake has treaded upon these very floors.”

Shangshi smiled ever so slightly as he sees the culmination of the damage done to Jacula’s face. Never one to be truly intimidated he stared calmly back at Jacula “I know who you talk of, Jaida, unless there is more than one.” he smirks a little “I have said but 10 words to her.”

Jacula gritted his teeth, his eyes burning with malign intent “Jaida will feel my pain. But it is not her that I am referring too. The snake in our midst must have sent her a message, this vermin goes by Mogweh. I am sure that he was looking to send me into Dakkru's cold embrace.” He then clenched his fist as the anger in his eyes grew clearer “This menki has plotted against his own. His vile tongue enlightening those who were meant to be misguided.”

Shangshi walked past Jacula, so that was the reason for asking him here, petty, simpleminded, tit for tat revenge, though he knew anything Jacula did would be worse than was done to him, smiling at the fact. Reaching the alter he placed his hand upon it tilting his head down. With his head tilted he smiled before raising it saying “Mogweh.... such a fool.”

Jacula placed his hands behind his back as he tilts his head given Shangshi’s notion, several screeching breaths escaping his disfigured lips.

Shangshi turned, facing Jacula “Did you not play your games with him, as you did with me?” a slight annoyance tints the words, he never liked being played.

Jacula answered flatly “The menki lacks the intelligence you posses. Seemingly delusional about what might get him exterminated.”

Shangshi narrowed his eyes slightly and snorted aggressively “What do you know of Mogweh and Mellas' relationship?”

Jacula spat on the floor at Shangshi’s comment about Mellas, as if the mere mention of it forced a foul taste to wash over his tongue, he then seems to spit the word back at him “Relationship!?”

Shangshi tilted his head back looking up at the light at the top of the temple as he released a deep breath, calming, control of one’s self he reminded himself. The presence of Jacula was seemingly a secondary consideration for him during these moments. Looking back to Jacula, a slight smile adorning his face “Yes, acquaintance, friends....”

Jacula watched Shangshi’s demeanour closely, a chaotic glow in his eyes growing brighter “Don't taunt me, for my patience is a rare trait given the circumstances.”

Shangshi nodded and eyed Jacula carefully “I was not taunting you. That would have no purpose. I believe Mellas' feelings are with you, as for Mogweh, well, they may lie with Mellas.”

Jacula lowered his head slightly, seemingly trembling with anger “What supports this notion of yours” he hissed through his teeth.

Shangshi waited a few moments before continuing with his explanation “I came across them both at the lake of stealth. Under rather... intimate... circumstances. Mogweh was rather cautious round me, but then he always seem to be. Mellas, seem embarrassed and perhaps a bit confused with how the situation occurred.” He paused again before continuing “They had a story concerning a Klyros attacking Mellas, but the whole thing seemed, empty, but perhaps not a complete lie.” He then stood back waiting for the reaction as he finished speaking.

Jacula’s eyes got a twisted look in them, he approached the altar with heavy steps. His demeanour violent and unstable, as if to snap at any second “Don't mince words with me, what exactly did you see?” he said in a disturbingly screeching voice.

Shangshi looked up at Jacula, thinking, so easy to enrage and said simply “They were both undressed, at least partially and under an Ulber hide at the lake shore.”

Jacula seemed to begin to tremble, his eyes fluttering before suddenly digging into Shangshi’s. His pupils darkening significantly as he began to breathe in a disturbingly frantic way.

Shangshi turned and stepped to the side of the alter, turning his head looking directly back at Jacula he ran a finger along the alter edge.

Jacula seemed to be consumed by anger, several veins visibly throbbing in his forehead as he turned to the altar, his screeching breathing growing more rapid. He closed his eyes, as if trying to contain himself. A vague snarl escaping his lips “Spread the word to the others. This snake will experience what punishment is brought onto those who is led blindly astray from the cabals interests”

Shangshi watched the visible build up of anger within Jacula “Those that I see who are fit to hear, will hear what they must. I will see what there is to see and will pass word of anything, interesting.” he paused for a moment pondering the offer he had searched to give to Jacula as he gently tapped the alter.

Jacula feared that he would no longer be able to control himself, he turned and walked away. The shadows seemingly teeming around him as he does “Master’s will be done” he exclaims violently, the echo bouncing around the room before slowly fading.

Shangshi watched as Jacula paced towards the temple exit. Stretching an arm out into the shadows of the temple he drew them in around him, until the alter was shrouded in darkness. He then decided he would show Jacula what true power was. The Shadows continued to fill the alter room, hiding everything in truth. He lowered his arm, and the shadows vanished, replaced with the dingy light that filled the room.

And with that he too left.

[I really enjoyed reading this Shangshi, a good insight into a terrible mind. To show how your char is inhabiting Jacula's world, also nicely done. Kind of makes Jacula look like a bit of a bumbling duffer.]

Rigwyn tossed and turned in his sleep as a collage of images swept though his mind. The first was an image of large clear window with golden trim and small jade handles at its base. The golden trim glimmered as the light from the azure crystal struck it from above. He peered though it and begand to enjoy the sight of the bright azure sky. The pleasantness of the image was disturbed by putrid scent followed by a dark cloud that stole the window's glimmer as it blocked the light. Rigwyn looked at his hand and saw that he was holding a long thick staff. He swung his staff at the window smashing to pieces. The floor was littered with broken shards of glass, a broken and bent frame, and fragments of jade. Strangely as he looked up there was no stench and no dark cloud. He looked back down and noticed that his staff was no longer a staff, but rather a brown serpent with thick white stripe. It hissed and him and lunged at his arm exposing its sharp white fangs.

Tumbling with discomfort he rolled over and found a more comfortable position to lay in. A merry tune played in his head as a band of dwarven women danced in a field of tall grass. The field, while littered with flowers, was known to be full of snakes, but strangely dwarves did not seem to be concerned. One of them bent over and reached down with her chubby little hand to pick up  a serpent which sat there in the grass and wiggled its little tongue at her. A dark shadow immediately covered her casting both her and the serpent into darkness. Within a second she was plucked from the ground by a great petrosaur which flew high in the sky as she screamed helplessly and kicked he stumpy little feet.

The dream faded out and Rigwyn found himself in a forest wandering slowly to the edge of a lake. It was rather quiet and tranquil outside with the exception of a few noisy but harmless creatures stirring in the background. He knelt at the edge of the lake and reached in for a palm full of water. As he leaned in he saw a hooded figure peer back at him instead of his own reflection. The inside of the crimson hood was pitch black and a green serpent with golden eyes slithered around the neck of the figure as it hissed and licked the air. He looked closer squinting his eyes as he tried to see inside the hood. The snake turned to face Rigwyn and froze up as if preparing to strike. The hooded figure whispered; his breath stunk of death. The name "Zalloh" seeped from his vile lips as his hood began to recede and the image of a male lemur's face began to become visible. Just as the features began to appear he felt himself sinking into the damp filthy soil. He looked down and noticed eight pairs of black shadowy arms grasping at his legs and pulling him down into the soil. A voice that had the qualities of a rivnak's neigh screamed and leaves began to fall from the trees above as the soil rose above his head and filled his mouth and nostrils.

Startled, he leaped from the ground where he laid. His heart pounding so hard he could here it. He grasped his own head with open palms over his ears as if to block out the images that flooded his head. Moments passed and the images faded. The sky was dark and the Diaboli reclined once more to drift back off to sleep.

[ Just a little mental candy to hold you off for a little while.. enjoy at your own risk ;)  ]

“Rain and Thunder"

PART 1
Jacula summons a groffel and grabs it by the neck. "Find Mellas," he hisses before letting go of the small animal. The groffel circles her a few times before dropping a note at her feet. “I await you on the mountain that looks out over Hydlaa. -Ebon"

It has been a long, painful couple of days for a blonde elf sitting on one of the chairs in The Broken Door. Yet life continues, not stopping to listen to her musing thoughts as she stares into her empty mug. Only a few drops of red liquor left. She doesn’t bother, sliding the mug over the rough wood to the other side of the table. With a deep sigh she pushes her seat back and stands up, giving the busy bartender a simple nod before heading up the stairs to the balcony. She could use some fresh air, the day had only just started and her mind was still clouded with past events. However, she wasn’t going to get her peace, not yet…

‘Mellas stops dead in her tracks when she spots a familiar elf sitting at one of the tables in Brado's tavern. 'Look who we have here...' she chuckles.
Shangshi shuffles about in his seat a little and he looks over at Mellas and smiles "Hello Mellas, I hope you are feeling better than the last time we met."
Mellas nods and is about to say something in return, when a groffel runs up to her with a note in its beak. Slowly, she picks up the small paper and reads it, but not before handing the small messenger a piece of carp. 'Enjoy,' she says with a wink, soon followed by a serious frown as she realizes whom the message is from. She folds the note and places it with a couple of other scrolls in her backpack , then looks up at Shangshi. 'I have to go, rather in a hurry. Have fun here... and take the rat eyes out of the cook's soup.' The last part was added in jest, though also more or less a warning of Reffitia’s cooking skills. Tastes differ, but how can a kitchen infested with rats serve you a brilliant meal?
Shangshi smiles watching the groffel eat the piece of fish, and chuckles at Mellas' words "Something important, nice to see you as always."
Mellas returns the smile and waves farewell as she heads down the stairs, her feet lightly touching the wood, barely making any sound as she departs. 'Thank you, you as well, Shangshi. See you around!'

With a small wave over her ring and a silent whisper of words, the nolthrir summons Amiore the Dreamer, easily jumping on top of the rivnak’s back as her azure hands firmly take hold of the reigns. With enough water and bread in her backpack to last the journey back to Hydlaa, it doesn’t take long before Amiore’s hoofs speed through the gate and into the beautiful scenery surrounding the city of rogues. The road to Hydlaa is safe enough for those who know their magic, and she reaches her destination without any trouble. Amiore vanishes in thin air just before the mountain behind Harnquist, which doesn’t bother her. She prefers to approach in silence, her leather boots leaving invisible imprints on the grass as she makes her way up…

Soon enough, the nolthrir finds herself standing before a tall figure, clad in an exquisite suit of shining armor. A cape woven in the finest of white silk adorns his shoulders, its hood placed neatly over the featureless seemingly metallic mask that hides his face. She notices his screeching breathing, as if his voice has been damaged by something, and knows immediately that she found the right person.
Jacula clasps his hands behind his back as he looks at Mellas, not uttering a word to greet her.
Mellas carefully chooses her steps on the mountain she makes her way over to him, the screeching sound confirming her thoughts. 'Hey there Jacula,' she says softly, moving closer. ''How are you doing?'
Jacula flatly retorts 'Is there something you wish to tell me?'
Mellas blinks in confusion, the past events flashing by her in a heartbeat. 'Where would you have me start?' she sighs, unconsciously rubbing her cheek.
Jacula repeats his question, obviously enraged "is there something... You wish... To tell me?' he says through gritted teeth.
Mellas frowns, a worried expression on her face as she takes a step back. 'I - I couldn't beat Mandrith... I really tried. Why are you so.... angry?'
Jacula lets a furious sneer escape the narrow opening in his mask 'Mogweh. Do you still consort with this whelp?'
Mellas gasps and raises her hands to her mouth, wildly shaking her head. 'No! I - how... wait. Shangshi spoke to you, didn't he?'
Jacula raises his voice as he furiously exclaims 'Don't mince words with me!'
Mellas jumps slightly, startled by the raising of his voice. Not knowing what he heard, she assumes it best to remain quiet.
Jacula raises a finger and points it at Mellas, seeming to have grown more enraged by her silence 'I trusted you melamin... This is how you you repay me?'
Mellas looks up at the sky when it begins the rain, effectively wetting her hair and clothing as she waits for him to speak. 'I have not betrayed you,' she says softly in return.
Jacula squints his eyes under his mask as he forecfully exclaims 'Then speak, and enlighten me of your relation to this snake.'
Mellas sighs, running a hand through her, now wet, hair. 'Mogweh has become my best friend over time, he has saved my life more than once. A while ago we went to have a drink at Brado's, after witnessing a fight. I got...' she lowers her gaze to the damp grass. 'I got drunk, it was a different drink than what I initially ordered... but it did taste good.'
Jacula clasps his hands behind his back again as the malign glow in his eyes seems to burn fiercely under his mask 'Dont mince words. What happened?' he says coldly.
Mellas lifts her head, giving Jacula a look as thunder strikes the moment she speaks. 'What do *you* think happened?' she almost growls, angered by his distrustful demeanor.
Jacula leans forward in a hostile manner, his anger having rendered him careless 'How about your *best friend* being able to decieve you yet again?' he roars as the heavy downpour soaks his hood.
Mellas unconsciously leans backwards, looking up at him with a mixture of fear and anger. 'What can I do against magic!' she nearly shouts. 'I had no idea!'
Jacula withdraws slightly as he realizes that he might frighten her 'Magic?' he sneers as the soil beneath them begins to turn into mud given the heavy rain.

Mellas nods slowly, relieved when he leans back from his aggressive stance. 'Yes, I'm not sure what he did, but he...' she swallows. 'He entered my mind, must've been azure way... to give me pleasure. It did feel really good...'
Jacula coldly exclaims as he gives Mellas a distasteful look 'And yet you trust him, yet you call him your best friend?'
Mellas clasps her hands together and sighs. 'Maybe you would've never seen me again, if it wasn't for Mogweh. Mandrith cut off my tongue and followed me after my.... death,' she shivers lightly when the memory awakens inside her, rubbing her stomach with an uncomfortable expression. 'Goodness knows what he was up to...'
Jacula snaps as Mellas tries to change the subject, sliding the ring she gave him from his finger and squeezes it in his hand 'You love him, do you not?' he roars as he takes a step towards Mellas
Mellas sighs and shakes her head as the memory relives, faint from the alcohol, but still there. 'Nay, I love you. I told him to stop... it took a while before he listened, but he did. My mind was... clouded, but even through the magic and all the pleasure he was showing me, you were still there.' Lowering her gaze, she hugs herself, soaking wet. 'I told him I would not leave you, if that means anything to you.' The last words were bitter, feelings from the past boiling up, and yet, she doesn’t want any trouble… she really doesn’t want any more pain, no matter what kind.
Jacula looks down at Mellas and shakes his head, his rage having consumed him entirely 'Yet you trust him... You sicken me!' he exclaims hurtfully before trying to take hold of her arm.
Mellas gasps in surprise when her arm is taken from her own embrace, and blinks furiously to will the tears away. Her eyes are wide, the pain clearly visible within as she has to listen to his raised, screeching voice, hurting her sensitive ears. 'Where were you when I needed you!' she exclaims in return. 'Why is everybody asking me where you are, who you are, and what my relation is to you? I was dragged into the enkidukai meeting, thrown before Akkaido by a diaboli who told him that I knew exactly where to find you! And I don't even know!'
She breathes quickly, her eyes darting from him to his grasp on her arm, and all stands still around her, as if time stopped ticking, winds stopped blowing, and she rain stopped pouring down around them. Her gaze locked on their position, she swallows uncomfortably… what would Jacula do now?

[A great thank you to Jacula for making this possible, and kudos to Rigwyn for a superb job on the dream sequence, I really love reading those :)]

"Rain and Thunder"

PART 2
Quote
"She breathes quickly, her eyes darting from him to his grasp on her arm, and all stands still around her, as if time stopped ticking, winds stopped blowing, and she rain stopped pouring down around them. Her gaze locked on their position, she swallows uncomfortably… what would Jacula do now?

The heavy downpour mercilessly washed over the edge of the mountain. In that moment there was only anger, a seemingly unstoppable fury which not even Mellas reason could dampen. The fear was evident in her eyes, her blond hair reduced to a soaked slab which had sought itself down her face. She had asked him where he had been when she needed him, the question bringing forth a spark of guilt.

Jacula let his massive hand slide down Mellas arm before prying open her fingers and forcefully placing the ring in her hand 'You where probably in company of your dear friend" he said as he breathed deeply "You may crawl back to his embrace, but his fate is soon to be sealed." his eyes dug into hers as he exclaimed 'I can't believe you trusted you.. I can't believe you betrayed me for that whelp!' he roared from the bottom of his lungs.
Mellas simply stared at the ring in her hand, and the tears finally fell. Nearly unnoticeable in combination with the heavy rain. 'I did not betray you... but it sounds more like... you want me to. You don't want to hear the truth... I'm a bother to you, aren't I?' she raised her voice, upset. 'Aren't I?!
Confusion struck his mind given the sincere tone in her voice. Had he drawn premature conclusions?
Jacula swallowed, taken aback by her comment 'How could you love a monster like me?' he hissed through his teeth. His mask concealing the sorrow which filled his expression.
Mellas tried to regain her composure, but failed miserably as the shakes and tremors continued to wreck her frame. 'You are not a monster...' she objected. 'If you want me to leave, all you have to do is say so. I know you would want a stronger woman by your side... one who could fight with you and for you. I'm sorry for not being the follower of your religion as you wanted me to.'
Mellas had been a excellent recruitment for the temple. Her sworn alignment to the black flame and her connection to Jacula having been a solid foundation for priceless intel. Losing her now would be inexcusable, and on a personal level unbearable. Yet a searing realization soon made itself clear. she could had been so much more, had she not given her very soul in the devious plot Jacula had created.

Jacula displayed a visible moment of weakness, realizing that she would be better off without him 'You are everything I want in a woman. But you deserve better than me.. I do nothing but bring you pain and worry.' he looked her up and down as the the heavy downpour began to fade 'A could never give you what you deserve'
Mellas swallowed and looked down at the ring in her hand. 'Everything you would want in a woman... yet you don't trust me, and return the ring I gave you,' she whispered softly, taking off her own ring and placing them together in her palm. 'You've given me love, care and passion. You've always been gentle to me... I - I....' She bit her lip as she searched for words. 'What is it you want?'
Jacula looked down at the two rings where they laid in her palm before locking his eyes with hers, removing his mask from his face 'You have to understand that he is using you to get to me. Mogweh was the one who told Jaida where to find me, he is the one who has been plotting behind our backs. And when he tries to defile you, you turn the other cheek?' he said in a clearly concerned tone which soon transcended in rage 'He will pay for what he did to me. He will suffer for his deceit'
Mellas breathed in quickly when she is once more confronted with the horror that was bestowed upon her lover, but doesn't move away. 'Mogweh told Jaida to do this?' she shook her head. 'That makes no sense, but I can ask for you, if you like,' she suggested as the night began to make its entrance around them. 'But I want you to realize that he did not defile me, he means well in his own way. I'm sure things could be resolved by a simply exchange of words.'

The malign feeling that crept up on Jacula given her words had grown to be all too familiar. Mellas was no fool, yet she defended the snake which had allegedly told Jaida where she could find him. In his mind there was no excuse for such weakness. His black heart pounded within his chest as the urge to cause Mellas harm crept up on him, a feeling which brought forth an equal amount of disgust towards himself.

Jacula stared daggers at Mellas 'You take his side in this matter?' he exclaimed furiously 'You are not to talk about this to anyone. For his fate will be sealed in accordance with your faith, all who align with him will suffer.' His eyes widened visibly and the glow within them grew brighter as night began to embrace Hydlaa 'Look at my face Melamin, look at my face and say that I should resolve this with mere words.' he spitted to the ground before adding 'A choice is upon you, if you take his side in this. There is no turning back'

A drop of the now vanished downpour seeped into the intricate hilt of the dagger which rested in his palm behind his back. His stiff fingers tightened around the pommel as he searched her eyes, knowing what had to be done did she take Mogwehs side. The feeling of self disgust worsened as her lips parted as if to speak.

Mellas looked from the rings in her hands to the killing glare in Jacula's eyes and took half a step back, too scared by his fury to offer him a hug or a kiss. 'If Mogweh did indeed do this,' she makes a gesture towards his scorched face, 'then you have all the right to take revenge... I just ask of you to find out before you draw conclusions. That's all.'
Jacula extended a hand in a gesture as his violent expression seemed to fade 'Are you with me?' he asked in a significantly softer voice.
Mellas shook her wet hair, going through it with one hand as the dry air slowly did its work. The force of the rain having caused the flowers that adorned her hair to fall and drift away off the mountain. She glanced down at Hydlaa thoughtfully, before grasping Jacula's hand in a firm grip. 'I'm with you,' she replied. 'But, I do have one condition.'
Jacula gave Mellas an affectionate look, his face forming a expression of the same. He closed his fingers around her hand as he tilted his head slightly, as if indicating her to speak. The grip on the dagger he had held behind his back faded, the serrated blade landed on the moist ground below with a vague thud.
Mellas smiled lightly, the rings rested between both of their palms as their hands where clasped together. 'Promise me that you'll try to be more... compassionate to the world.'
Jacula lowered his gaze in though for a moment before looking up at her 'If you can promise me to see Mogweh for what he is' he said softly, the glow in his eyes having faded to the point where thay have returned to a calm ebon black.
Mellas's smile brightened and as a reply she nodded, carefully extracting their hands so that each ring laid in the palm of its respectful owner. 'Yes, I can promise that,' she replied warmly, placing the small jewelery once more on her finger. 'Hug?' she then asked, spreading her arms wide with a relieved look on her face.
Jacula squeezed the ring in his hand slightly before moving up to Mellas and wrapping his arms around her 'I love you..' he whispered before his voice trailed off. Wondering what steps he would need to take to ensure complete suffering for Mogweh and all who chose to align with him.
Mellas wrapped her arms around his armor in return, squeezing him affectionately. 'I love you too, melamin,' she whispered softly with her head resting against his platemailed torso, yet she frowns, wondering why he trailed off like that..
Jacula remained standing with his arms wrapped around Mellas, smelling her soaked blond hair for a moment 'Do not speak to anyone of this. Mogwehs fate will be righteous given his crimes' he lied. Knowing that he was to inflict a fate worse than Mellas could ever imagine.
Mellas sighted a bit and nodded, leaning into his embrace. 'As long as it will be righteous,' she repeated, glancing at Hydlaa as the city became cloaked in the invisibility of darkness, various lights jumping out for much needed illumination. 'Will you forgive me, for being such a terrible thief?' she added, murmuring thoughtfully.
Jacula drew a breath of soothing relief 'The only reason I joined the family was to get protection for you and myself. They don't matter melamin, say the word.. And we will leave without a trace'
Jacula added solemnly 'Forgive me for not being there when you needed me'
Mellas smiled and shook her head. 'Nay, they have their good sides too... I think I might just grow attached to this family, even though their ideas do clash a bit with mine,' she mentioned, drawing his body closer against hers. 'Of course I forgive you, I bet I couldn't be there when you needed me as well. Though, I really do miss you...'
Mellas pressed her chest against his cold armor as she looked up, searching for those intense ebon eyes that she fell in love with so long ago.
Jacula looked down at Mellas, his focused eyes widening as his lips parted in a smile, he savoured the moment and relished the distinct feeling of love and affection that washed over him, making him forget all the pain he had suffered.
Mellas lifted an arm to stroke his deformed cheek, her eyes sparkling softly, but it dies just as quickly as it came when the memory of what Mandrith did sprung up again, she tried to move out of their embrace. 'I.. should go..' she murmured.
Jacula let Mellas go, knitting his brow in concern 'What is wrong?' he asked affectionately
Mellas looks around, her eyes searching the darkness as she continued to move back. 'I don't know... will you meet me later? Where the whisper resides?'
Jacula nodded slightly 'I will see you there Melamin. May the shadows sooth your weary mind'
Jacula turned to look out over Hydlaa with a unwavering gaze
Mellas frowned slightly at that expression and nods, reaching out to grasp his hand one last time with a gentle squeeze. 'May love guide your way through the shadows,' she replied lovingly. 'Be safe.'
Mellas waved a farewell and slowly vanishes into the black night.

Jacula remained standing on the edge of the mountain. He had doubted Mellas loyalty, yet given the confrontation he had been ensured that she was faithful. As his eyes wandered over the familiar buildings a calm exclaim escaped his disfigured lips "Where will you run Mogweh.. Where will you run when there is no one left to protect you?"

Akaiddo Kivikar was standing on patrol as usual when a Ynnwn woman wandered up to him. She didn't strike him as unusual, important, or extraordinary. Little did he know she was to be the catalyst to his new victory efforts against Jacula.

[Jaida asked me to post the logs here, so here they are.]

Jaida Pundactum greets Akaiddo Kivikar.
Jaida waves at Akaiddo 'Greetings sir menki. Would you be so kind to give me directions?'
Akaiddo Kivikar greets Jaida Pundactum.
Akaiddo says: Grrensholo. What is it you seek?
Jaida smiles warmly at Akaiddo 'I am looking for a man..' she suddenly seems uncomfortable as she tries to remember the name 'Kistaol.. Kisatol?'
Akaiddo frowns deeply. "And why would you wish to visit such a vile person?"
Jaida looks down and rubs her arm 'I.. I need help. I don't know where else to turn' she says lowly
Akaiddo says: So you seek the bandits and the rogues? That is unwise.
Akaiddo says: You would almost be better off asking Jakular to bless Enkidukai.
Jaida frowns slightly, yet she seems frightened of the menki before her 'Jakular.. Jacula? do you know him?'
Akaiddo growls. "He is a stain on these parts, a murderer who evades capture."
Jaida hides her face in her palms and shakes her head, as if upset 'Oh.. So the rumors are true.. I diden't want to believe it'
Akaiddo frowns. "What do you mean?"
Jaida stutters 'I.. I need help in bringing him in. My name is Jaida, Jaida Pundactum. I am his sister, sadly we where seperated at birth. I came to Hydlaa to find him, but now.. I fear for his soul' she says deplorably, her eyes filling with tears.
Akaiddo's expression changes, to a slightly more sympathetic expression.
Akaiddo says: Kisatol wouldn't help you, he is an ally of Jakulars.
Jaida lowers her gaze as she whispers 'Laanx have mercy on him..'
Jaida looks up with a crushed expression, as if having abandoned all hope 'But.. There must be some way to stop him. He needs to be brought to justice.. For his own good!'
Akaiddo says: My clan and I have been working to apprehend him for weeks now. He comes in surprises, assaulting and fleeing when our reinforcements arrive..
Akaiddo says: I have sworn to capture him, take that mask off and look upon the hidden disfigured face that haunts me.
Akaiddo Kivikar greets Helad Kenach.
Helad Kenach salutes Akaiddo Kivikar with respect.
Akaiddo says: Grrensholo Kore.
Helad says: Hello sir, how is everyone?
Jaida offers Akaiddo her shivering hand 'We should work together.. I would be for the best'
Akaiddo takes the hand and shakes it firmly. "Aye, we have the same and best interests at heart."
Jaida looks over at Helad and makes a court bow
Jaida wipes some of her tears 'But where would we begin.. He is like a shadow. I haven't been able to find him'
Akaiddo says: Does he know you exist?
Helad interrupts 'who?'
Helad looks at Jaida 'who is this?'
Akaiddo says: This Ynnwn is the sister of Jakular... but she is lawful and good, and wishes him apprehended.
Helad says: oh
Jaida shakes her head 'I don't know.. Rigwyn told me that he was dead. Queen Lolitra later told me the truth.. How could he lie to me?' she says weakly
Akaiddo growls. "Rigwyn is as slimy as Jakular, criminals them both be. Rigwyn beat a House Cheshire initiate till she was almost dead. She was lucky Emmara found her.
Jaida brings a hand to her mouth in shock 'Gods..' she says as tears began to flow down her cheeks
Helad says: how do you know Rigwyn?
Akaiddo looks at Jaida, then at Helad. "I'd say the pair of them have been working to deceive you together."
Jaida says: He.. But.. No...
Jaida suddenly bursts into tears, visibly shaking.
Akaiddo says: I tell you this. They are both evil murderering villains who belong catapulted at the Crystal. We have been fighting them off here in Ojaveda for weeks, and now neither seems prepared to attack me, aiming instead for the weaker initiates of my ally's clans.
Jaida struggles to speak 'How.. How can he be so... Evil?' she exclaims inbetween her sobs
Akaiddo says: Of how he became evil I do not know. All I know is he has stained this land, and all Enkidukai have risen against him.
Jaida looks down as her tears soak the dry stone below 'We have to capture him.. Bring him to justice, end this madness!' she says as she raises her voice 'But how?'
Akaiddo says: I wait for his next attack with tricks up my sleeve.
Helad grins
Enonel laughs, "Like last time?"
Akaiddo says: Our clan is now well coordinated, ready for him. We have worked together to devise several methods with which to capture him.
Akaiddo growls at Enonel. "Last time would not have happened if you were not consorting with the enemy!"
Jaida looks over at Enonel, making a small bow as she tries to wipe her tearfilled eyes
Enonel's eye widens, "I warned you! I told you to bring help!"
Akaiddo says: You are lucky I decided to come to your aid. Lucky I didn't leave you there to explain why I had chosen not to do as your note said.
Jaida Pundactum greets Enonel Botair.
Jaida looks fro mEnonel to Akaiddo 'What.. What are you talking about?'
Akaiddo says: This menki tried to play double agent, and cost us all a trip through Dakkru's realm.
Enonel laughs again, "For you, it did..."
Akaiddo growls. "Foolish."
Jaida gasps as her eyes widen 'He killed you!?'
Enonel shakes his head, "No.. He did worse.."
Jaida tries to calm herself down 'What do you mean?'
Akaiddo eyes Enonel spitefully. "Then perhaps in future you will know not to play with fire."
Enonel says: You got singed.. I got scorched..
Akaiddo says: Then you should have hopefully learnt your lesson.
Jaida looks horrified 'Scorched?'
Enonel laughs.
Jaida seems frightened by Enonels laughter and moves up next to Akaiddo
Akaiddo growls at Enonel. "We are discussing intelligent ways to bring Jacula down. Not a conversation for fools. Begone."
Enonel chuckles, "Fools? You think I'm a fool?"
Akaiddo growls. "Do not try my temper this day, Rabani. Or I will cut you down. You caused my death, and you show no sympathy for your actions."
Jaida raises her hand as if asking permission to speak 'Maybe I could contact him somehow and tell him to meet me? that would make a good opportuinity to capture him. I haven't been successful so far.. But maybe one of you know where to send a message?'
Enonel stops laughing gradually, he starts shaking his head
Jaida looks around the small crowd and rubs her arm
Helad Kenach raises an arm and points towards Denolyier Coolere.
Helad says: sir?
Akaiddo looks to Jaida. "Perhaps, you could post a message at the Hydlaa Message Board, I hear he uses that frequently."
Helad lowers his voice 'someone is watching us'
Akaiddo says: That man is of no harm, Helad.
Enonel draws his swords swiftly
Akaiddo says: Leave him.
Jaida looks around confused
Helad says: yes sir
Helad says: what is he doing though?
Jaida looks to Akaiddo 'But.. Woulden't he know it was a trap? he seems extremely cautious'
Akaiddo says: Most likely attempting to gather information for our foes, of which I ensure is falsified to lead them wrong.
Akaiddo's eyes widen and brighten. "I know the answer. We shall seek that blonde elf."
Vakachehk Kivikar greets Jaida Pundactum.
Vakachehk Kivikar greets Helad Kenach.
Vakachehk Kivikar greets Akaiddo Kivikar.
Vakachehk Kivikar greets Enonel Botair.
Akaiddo Kivikar greets Vakachehk Kivikar.
Helad Kenach salutes Vakachehk Kivikar with respect.
Akaiddo says: Grrensholo Brother.
Helad says: what blonde elf?
Vakachehk says: Grrensholo everyone
Vakachehk says: what is going on?
Jaida looks down 'Blond elf.. Mellas?' she says weakly
Enonel growls
Akaiddo says: Her name is Mellas, and she apparently is Jakular's lover.
Akaiddo says: I said, LEAVE HIM.
Denolyier sighs "Relax, I'll wait until you guys are done to get a chance to talk"
Denolyier chuckles softly
Akaiddo nods to Denolyier. "I apologise for this menki. He listens not to the words of the wise."
Akaiddo says: Vakachehk this is Jakular's sister. She wishes to help us apprehend him, as she is a lawful citizen.
Denolyier waves his hand "It's okay, nothing I didn't already know" He grins and walks closer "So are we setting up traps for the enemies of Ojadeva?"
Vakachehk says: ahh you didn't I come across you before
Vakachehk says: you nearly got the beating from that rogue
Jaida makes a small bow to Vakachehk 'This menki saved me'
Akaiddo looks to Denolyier. "Well, rather we are discussing where to find that blonde elf."
Vakachehk says: that rogue was nothing but trouble
Denolyier looks at Jaida oddly, then at Akaiddo and says "Which elf? The one I gave to you?"
Akaiddo says: Aye.
Jaida raises her hand 'I don't think she has anything to do with this, she was so sweet to me. But when I saw her a few days ago she seemed angry.. And hurt.' she ponders for a moment 'Maybe Jacula is hurting her too?'
Akaiddo says: Say didn't I tell you you could spend a week in Ojaveda for your business? I believe your time here has run out... unless you remove your mask.
Akaiddo says: Villains hurt all they associate with, no matter whether they intend to or not.
Jaida returns Denolyiers odd look
Denolyier frowns "Thought we had something going Kivikar?" He sighs "I can help you find Mellas, don't know why you didn't look into this when I first gave her to you":
Akaiddo says: To be honest, Diaboli, I didn't look into it at first because I do not trust your intentions.
Denolyier shrugs "I suppose no one does. Do you trust my intentions now?"
Jaida seems reluctant at the idea 'I think she is being held against her will. She is lawful and good, I am sure of it!'
Akaiddo shakes his head. "I trust you as little as the day I met you. Especially considering you are still wearing that mask." he turns to Jaida. "She seems as embroiled in deceit as he."
Vakachehk says: well I need to go to the Bronze Doors Fortress
Denolyier sighs again dramatically "The mask is better for business "He chuckles "Whatever. . . If you want my help on the matter I'm sure we could work otu something." He pauses "Like an extention of my stay in Ojadeva?" He smiles "I don't see why you are worried about trust, I was the one who gve you the elf in the first place"
Jaida looks around the small crowd before turning to Akaiddo 'If you wish to make a move on him you can find me in the local tavern, I will spend a few nights here' she adverts her gaze from him before adding 'if you.. If you dont mind'
Akaiddo smiles. "You are more than welcome in the safety of Ojaveda's walls."
Vakachehk says: well farewell all and good luck
Enonel looks over at Denolier, "Akaiddo doesn't trust anyone.."
Denolyier nods to Enonel "Then he is smart"
Denolyier chuckles
Akaiddo growls at Enonel. "I don't trust foolish menkis, masked foreigners and bandits."
Jaida makes a bow to Akaiddo before walking away towards the tavern, deep in thought.

"Slithering Serpent"

Quote
Jacula remained standing on the edge of the mountain. He had doubted Mellas loyalty, yet given the confrontation he had been ensured that she was faithful. As his eyes wandered over the familiar buildings a calm exclaim escaped his disfigured lips "Where will you run Mogweh.. Where will you run when there is no one left to protect you?"

Jacula had sought himself to the ruins in the outskirts of Gurgontid. The ruins had always proven useful in magical study, a subject which had grown to be most interesting to him of late. He carefully examined the various samples and glypths he had brought, placing them on a table which he had earlier furnished one of the ruins annexes with. The obsession which consumed him regarding Mogweh had grown to be unbearable. The distinct craving of wishing him suffering knew no bounds, his study failing to distract him.
He was certain that Mogweh had imparted Jaida on where to find him, and thus having betrayed one of his own. A offence for which he would suffer a gruesome fate. Nearly all worthy of cleansing the temple of it's serpent had been informed, yet the biggest test remained in Rigwyn.

Jacula summoned a groffel with a flick of his wrist, he grabbed it by the neck as he hissed 'Find Rigwyn' being sure to place a note in it's collar which stated 'Meet me in the ruins located in the outskirts of Gurgontid' he signed the letter with the alias "Ebon" knowing that Rigwyn would recognize it.
Jacula turned his focus back to his study. The azure way of magic had always faczinated him due to it's devious spells. He had grown proficient in the various enchantments and attacks it held under the tutelage of Sysial Shillor. Loud magic sparks and illuminated shimmers could be heard and seen through the cracks in the ancient stone as he practiced. And soon enough Rigwyn peered in through the doorway.
Jacula was trying to keep a snowbud floating in mid air with gentle azure winds. Modifying the spells original purpose had proved to be exceedingly difficult. He usually grew frustrated by the long process that came with learning. As if his patience had been cut short. He noticed Rigwyn in the corner of his eye as he entered, rendering him unfocused for a split second.
Jacula snarled as the snowbud incinerated, the remaining dust caught in the gentle breeze which soon transcended into a fierce wind. The violent energy ripping away at him, his experiment failed.

Rigwyn watched the snowbud curiously, seemingly amused as it incinerated "Ya called me here ta see a flower? Hope ya got more than that" he chuckled.  Jacula looked to Rigwyn as he clasped his hands behind his back 'Just a experiment.. This place is useful in that regard.' he muttered, pondering how he would approach Rigwyn about his suspicions. He approached Rigwyn with heavy steps as he exclaimed 'I've called you here for a purpose which cannot be overlooked'

Rigwyn responded "Oh ? This is regarding Jaida ? I haven't seen her so I put a contract on her head" Jacula turned his back to the diaboli as he answered 'No.. Jaida is just a tool. A tool used by a serpent slithering within our.. Enclave'
Rigwyn recoiled slightly at the mention of a serpent, "Serpents? Tell me more..
I had a dream about one .. I think its an omen .. perhaps a warning." he added. The first reaction that crossed Jaculas mind was to ensnare Rigwyn in a mind game. A action which would not only be difficult, but dangerous given the Diabolis violent nature. He walked over to the nearby table and inspected the various samples resting upon it 'You faith is strong Rigwyn. I am sure you will take my words to heart..'
Rigwyn looked at the table noticing a number of odd items, seemingly lacking focus "I trust my eh .. contacts will bring her to me. The reward is rather high"

Jacula turned again, letting a vague screech escape his lips 'Omens come to those who serve loyally.. I can't say that I'm surprised.' he said with a false hint of admiration in his voice, looking over his shoulder at the various glypths and samples 'It's just a few trinkets.. For my study'
He trailed his fingers over his metallic mask 'I know who informed Jaida where to find me.. This reckless whelp is an abomination. A traitor who will suffer in accordance with our faith'
Rigwyn tilted his head as he examined the various items, seemingly fascinated He quickly looked back at Jacula given his claim "Who? "
the Diabolis face wrinkled slightly as he seemed to ponder about the strange screeching quality of Jaculas voice.

Jacula rambled in a seemingly obsessed way 'He has spoke truth to those meant to be misguided.. He will suffer for his sins. The serpent goes by.' he cackled as if a foul taste had sought itself onto his tongue 'Mogweh'. Rigwyn's eyes widened before narrowing quickly at the mention of the name "Mogweh ? "
Jacula observed Rigwyns reaction closely, his screeching breathing growing louder 'You see my brother.. We find ourselves in a predicament'

Much as he had anticipated Rigwyn would be hard to convince given his history with Mogweh. The Diaboli retorted quickly "This is a serious charge. We don't attack one another .. And he being higher in rank has earned a little more respect by the family then you have." Jacula frowned under his mask given his words. The Outlaws hierarchy meant nothing to him, his sole purpose of consorting with them being the need of personal protection.

"What makes you so sure it was him?" Rigwyn added, seemingly agitated. Jacula smacked his disfigured lips, as if to rid himself of the foul taste 'This is not about the family Rigwyn. .This is about your faith' he took two steps closer as he solemnly exclaimed 'The question remains.. Which comes first?'

Rigwyn countered viciously "This is about the family too in that he is well respected member. We protect our own. As for faith I have faith in my god, not necessarily faith in you or any other follower."
So stubborn, Jacula thought to himself. Yet the difficulty in convincing him was one of the traits which made Rigwyn such and excellent person to align with. Sadly he seemed determined to take Mogweh side in the matter, Jacula realized that he had to persuade him on a emotional level.

Rigwyn continued to counter his claim "I want to know what proof you have? I cannot act on such serious matters on hearsay or unfounded accusations." Jacula stared at Rigwyn briefly 'I am not asking for your involvement, I am but stating what I know.. Out of respect' he walked around the room, seemingly enraged 'Mogweh was asked to serve the bidding a long time ago. He was to infiltrate the trust of the enemy, yet he failed to do so.' He looked up at Rigwyn from time to time 'Jaida is the key to this matter.. And I am sure that Mogweh told her of my whereabouts. He is seeking to destroy me.. Why?' he paused for a bit as he snarled 'he tried to defile Mellas, and he wishes her for himself'

Jacula added to his argument as another furious claim escaped his lips 'He plots against his own, he enlightens those supposed to be misguided.' Rigwyn seemed to let his guard down for a split second "I need to see this for myself first. If this was just some pee-on nobody, then I wouldn't care much. I'll keep an eye on him and see if what you say about him is true."
Not good enough. Jacula thought to himself, he wanted to avoid making Rigwyn his enemy. But his obsession of Mogweh would permit no compromise.
"Im not concerned about him defiling Mellas as much as I am concerned about him being a traitor. That in my view is much more serious." the Diaboli stated coldly "How would Mogweh have known where you were?"

Jacula raised his voice, seemingly consumed by anger 'Others who serve our faith has been informed. And if Jaida supports my claim.. I wont rest until he begs for his life' he came to a stop, his anger fading as he took a few deep breaths. Knowing that he would have to make it appear that his faith came before his obsession 'All that matters to me is that the serpent is plucked from our midst'
He continued by answering Rigwyns question swiftly, as if having pondered it 'He must have been following me. His obsession of Mellas would be reason enough to wish me out of the way.. But this is not about me, nor is it about Mellas. This is about cleansing the enclave of those who may endanger it'
He noticed how Rigwyn's calculated expression began to fade. His mind game seemingly effective. He gestures to Rigwyn in a strange manner 'Seek your mind for answers Rigwyn, contemplate over the omen you have been given. This whelp plays a dangerous game, he needs to be punished for his betrayal!'

Rigwyn looked at Jacula while pondering his words. Soon he began to pace around the room. "I would feel better if I was convinced .. What you allege is quite serious. I'll certainly give it some thought."
The chink in his armor grew obvious to Jacula. His claims had no doubt troubled Rigwyns's mind and tested his reasoning.
" As for him being the cause, you assume that he followed you .. but you do not know for sure that he was .. do you?" he suddenly exclaimed suspiciously.
Jacula was quick to add to his claims 'I wouldn't had bothered you with mere suspicions, I do not take you for a fool Rigwyn. I called you here today not as a man thirsting for revenge, but as a concerned devotee' he lied through his teeth. His faith taking second place to his obsession.

"You were at first rather certain it was me. Now you are convinced that it was him." the Diaboli retorted, seemingly running low on arguments. "Being convinced is not enough .. however I AM very concerned about the possibility of a snake lurking in the grass."
Jacula parted his lips in a twisted smile under his lips as Rigwyns original attitude began to crumble.
"If he proves to be that snake then I assure you, it will be dealt with." Rigwyn added to his delight. Jacula narrowed his eyes under his mask 'Only three men could be cabale of rendering me this way. I had my reasons to be weary, but trust me on this.. I made a mistake in thinking that you were responsible.'

Rigwyn didn't seem affected by his discrete praise, Jacula began to grow inpatient, deciding to jump directly to the point. The unbearable urge that was his obsession 'I intend to deal with this as soon as I can find him. I ask not for your involvement given your ties in the family. I ask only of you to understand why I imparted you on this.'

"Know that Mogweh is protected too.." Rigwyn said, his previous attitude reappearing to Jaculas dismay. "There will be consequences if you harm him. He has made himself an asset to the family."
Jacula approaches Rigwyn as he exclaimed 'What I ask is that you look the other way, for the safety of the enclave. The family will not be tarnished.. I have taken steps to ensure this'

Rigwyn seemed reluctant at the idea, a demeanor which caused Jacula's reason to transcend in anger. "I suggest you wait and be certain that this is the case. I will not turn by back on a family member. As far as I can see so far this is not religious in nature. If he does prove to be a snake then I assure you he will be dealt with harshly." he said before adding "And if it IS a religious matter and he proves to be a snake.. Then he would be better off if he had not been born."

Jacula let his gaze wander over Rigwyn from under his mask, anger burning in his eyes 'I don't want you as an enemy Rigwyn, Don't stand in my way' he snarled vaguely 'Jaida is the key to his proven guilt. If you don't trust my judgment I suggest you find her'

"I do intend to find her now more than before." Rigwyn replied coldly. His intentions proving exceedingly difficult to grasp.
Jacula walked over to the nearby table to collect the various glypth and samples 'Make haste.. Mogwehs fate is to be sealed' he said with a hint of malevolence in his voice. He made sure to hide a glypth in his hand, uncertain if Rigwyn would decide to attack him given his cold mannerism.

"If I find that your the snake and not him then we will not be very happy." the Diaboli said. Jaculas fingers tightened around the glypth in his palm, his back still turned. Every joint and muscle in his body tensed given the malign urge that washed over him.

"I may consider raising the stake on Jaida's head. Like you say, her story may prove to be rather interesting." Rigwyn added, his previous statement soon fading into a seemingly hollow warning.
Jacula looked over his shoulder, his eyes exuding a violent glow 'Don't slander me Rigwyn. My patience grows slim given the circumstances'
"I never slanderd you, but given your accusing me without good reason and now Mogweh .. I am growing .. cautious." Rigwyn replied, seemingly uninterested in an violent confrontation. "Lets get this sister of yours and get to the bottom of this."

Jacula realized that he had to get to Jaida before Rigwyn found her. A small hint of doubt clouding his mind. If his accusations proved faulty he would be left in a state of peril. Leaving him a target for both the family and the Blackflame devotees. He tilted his head slightly before answering with a simple nod 'The truth is nigh'

"If there's nothing else, I have a few lives to rui... er eh .. things to do." Rigwyn said. Jacula placed his hand on shoulder 'Go do what you do best.. We are done here' and so it was that Rigwyn and Jacula parted ways. The latter knowing that he had to find Jaida and confirm his accusations.
