Postal and Newspaper System
« on: May 10, 2003, 09:09:51 pm »
A postal service should be implemented in the game and it should cost money to send a parcel to someone, so incase you wanna give them a gift or your to far to give someone an item, you can mail one. A postal office should be put only in major cities or towns.

Also a weekly newspaper should be made, ran by the players, made from the players, for the players. In the newspaper can be new updates, new items, players that make the headlines, developments in the storyline of the game, guild events, job openings from guilds, recruitment from guilds, open-house auction reminders, or anything that enhances the communcication over large distances throughout the world of Planeshift. Its important in my belief that communcation throughout the Devs, admins, and players should be one of the most important aspects to the game.

In conclusion, these are the reasons why I believe a newspaper and postal service system should be implemented in the game.

Post offices sound good, but the weekly newspaper would be more of a player owned buisness to me, or a quick way to check the news section of the planeshift site.

A postal service where it would be cheaper to send it to another town, than to have it sent directly to the person. So you could tell them \"Pick it up a Timmybaktoo\" and when they get there, and hit the post office, their package would be there.

ya but I think the should charge you a small amount for regular delivery and that would take about 2 days in Planeshift time.

Or you can pay extra and get it sent to whomever it may concern and it will take 1 day in Planeshift time.

Also, to make it more realistic, you could add a post-cart which moved between cities. It would be better than if you just posted your letter and it magically teleported from one mailbox to another.
