Goodbye
« on: January 28, 2010, 02:02:38 am »
Hi.

I'm in the mood to say goodbye.

Goodbye planeshift.

It was fun. But now i have enough.
The changes of today are not tolerable for me.

I'm not willing to be treated like cattle. If you need alpha or beta testers look elsewhere.
I'm out. I'm sure you'll find enough fools...

Edit: I just deleted all my chars and mules.

Player Chakko Zoltaan would like to say goodbye.

I guess he is talking about the massive changes in weight of items. Some items got lighter. Some items got heavier. Some items got a LOT items (my crate of jellied clacker eyes was 150kg).

Well it is either that or the price changes. Some things have become somewhat more
expensive and mining isn't giving as much profit anymore.

Some of the weight changes are big.

Good on you!!!!!

I've nearly had enough too, and you are right we are treated like cattle, if shaders are so bad thn turn it back to 0.4 until the shaders are better...
You maybe roleplaying but you could still be OOC.

You knew (or could have known) before you downloaded this game that it was not a finished game. It is in full development. It was your choice to try it out at your own risk. The PS devs are hard at work trying to balance everything. This is not something you can get right in one sweep. It requires a lot of work and without people to try it out we don't know if we are doing it right or wrong.

About the shaders, same issue there. We only have a limited number of computers here. We can't test every possible combination. That's why we absolutely need players to test this for us.

Greetings,

I deleted everything. Client, Chars and my hand made notes.
Next order of business will be to delete my forum account.

Oh look ... it's this thread again.
Seriously. Destructive critique doesn't help anyone, nor does leaving just because stuff is constantly changing. As Jorrit mentioned input from the players is needed to make balancing work.
Ya know, everyone working on this is trying to make PlaneShift a better game. Might be a surprise for some, but it's not "Oh, let's f*** up some values to annoy some players."

@Vakachehk - Set "Shaders" to "Medium" or lower and "Particles" to "Medium". Voila, you're nearly back to 0.4.
@bangoor - Have fun, wherever you're going. o/

Hey, wait whether they will reflect on my bug report 3986, maybe they will get it from it, if not and there will be another similar change without thinking first before applying it in real, or better, making sheet and announce it publicly, to have it revised by people who know more about it, then maybe I will leave too, because there are too many messed things in last 2 months and there are made new without fixing all the other issues first. If it will happen, Corps Virtuoso will lose it's guild master Delrid, at least until the things become more real than now and more bug free.

There is over 800 bugs right now and new are found every day, why making new mess without fixing the current bugs first? I don't know. I know it's not yet even beta, but asking people, who know, before applying, cost often nothing, they will react while it will be announced. It's not about prices, there are always multiple ways how to make money, it's not about weight of food, as it can change weight rapidly say while cutting or heating and rest is simple trash, but material can't disappear and then appear back when hammering or heating it at 800% rate as it is after last update, and there was other things that caused people leaving.

Corps Virtuoso had 5 people while we founded it, we got another 3 people before server update to version 0.5, which caused we lost 4 people who was not able even join to the server due to driver issues. We got another 3 people after server update but another 2 people having client problems after latest updates. Adding another bugs and messed up things to it without more fixes first and checking the new things before applying, I am not surprised that people are leaving. If you want someone, who will revise things before applying, I can do it, but it's always good to have other people see it first, because everyone can omit something and more people mean more chance to find it and fix it before applying.

When people are not coming to the other server to test things first, why not copy active characters to it and let them play without registering again, while laanx is down? Many people did it before you wiped them from ezpc again and they didn't registered again because they can't find the registration page (like me).

You think I am addicted? No, I just found this game interesting in 0.4 and I found it is fun, but it starts to be less and less fun with every such update, when you see good people leaving and guilds more and more empty. I have meet more than 20 good people with them was pleasure to play, I don't see them anymore due to client issues or they left after they found other people leaving massively after years of playing. It's sad. Yes, there are other good people and new players, but it is losing the atmosphere it had in version 0.4, when I joined.

And yes, that NPC in East Hydlaa has right, Yliakum is doomed, but i don't think it's caused by Derghirs...

That's exactly the needed input I was talking about! We need more "It's not good that way, maybe that's a better approach" and less "Bah, it's terrible!!!¡¡elevenoneone!!! I'm outta here". Thanks. :)
I'm certain Bovek will take your thoughts into account when he's finetuning the recent changes.

People working on balancing are not the same people working on quests, which are again not the same people working on PlaneShift's engine. That's a important thing to remember.
Most of those 800 bugs are related to quests, artwork and engine issues, while only a couple of them are balancing-related.
Do you really want balancing people to stop working until other devs fixed completely unrelated issues? I don't think so :)

This was actually done before 0.5 was released and then reverted when AC hit Laanx. I think it's a good thing to do and it worked out pretty well. But it's not something we can keep up constantly.
After all EZPC is a second live server, not just a testing environment.  Maybe changes are still tested on EZPC first, btw.

You can find the link right next to the laanx register page link on our planeshift.it pages.. with a description of the two servers. Should be pretty easy to find now.
