The (relatively new) Quest Dialog

Not sure if there is already a thread for this but....

IMHO the quest dialog should keep track of which which NPC the currently shown quest responses belong to and target that NPC before /tellnpcing. If the NPC is too far away for targeting, maybe print a notification in the chat window and close the quest dialog without any /tellnpc?

Well if what you are implying is that like bookshelves the quest window stays open even if you wander off, maybe crossing map boundaries then that is something for the bug tracker. It might be related to this bug.

If you have no npc selected then the dialog gets ignored. I suspect that unless the specific trigger is shared by npcs (yes/no) then having the wrong npc selected and choosing dialog from a previous npc ought to result in "don't understand" type message. If this is not the case then that too would be a bug. Personally I feel that windows that require having an npc selected should close automatically when the npc is no longer selected and/or is out of range.

Oh no. Don't do that. I often leave dialog windows open while looking for other stuff and sometimes even picking up stuff from the ground. Some of the chat windows are hard to get again without redoing the entire quest from the start (mostly before the quest is started).

I am not sure why you would need to do this, but it would seem to me that it would be much better if the quest dialog was saved directly into the quest notes field of the quests window. For some reason there appears to be a real culture of making life difficult for the players -- you can't copy/paste dialog into this field and you have to remember to specifically save any information you type into it. Not everyone who uses a computer is or wants to be a master typist.

Typing is the biggest barrier I have to role playing in this game, it just isn't fun for me if by the time I've finished typing something  the conversation has made my contribution obsolete.
