Digging as a usefull thing...
« on: May 13, 2003, 04:13:32 am »
What about digging as for hunting, making your own house in the side of a cliff, or digging down into another mine shaft/crystal area? Would digging be acceptable? For those reasons it seems like a good idea to me, when searching digging, not too many threads on it. I\'d like to know what other people think. These would not be useless holes, but holes that help somehow. You could also use holes to ambush a caravan by digging a trench, or in a battle, digging a trench.

Digging would be a good idea, but only in certain places where the gods would allow it. I mean I don\'t think you wanna see a bunch of holes everywhere.

Well, that would be another thing, random holes under a certain depth would fill back up rather quickly.

I have the perfect idea!

While I find it bearable to fish for hours, or even mine for hours, I hated digging holes!! \"Shoveling\" is the most useless skill ever.

Here\'s my suggestion:
RPGs these days have prisons... essentially a \"ban\" with the user still logged in. HOWEVER, to get out of the ban you have to dig a certain number of holes. This is worst then a time-limit punishment! To get out of prison, you gotta dig holes rather than rather wait.

The other option is to bail yourself out with a ridiculous amount of money... or ask someone to bail you out.

Example of punishment severity:
Loot stealing: 50 holes or $1000 bail
Scamming: 100 holes or $10000 bail
Impersonation of staff: 1000 holes or $1000000 bail

For prisions I like the idea better of a heft fine, where if you dont have the money, when you collect ANY money, it automaticly dissapears and lowers your debt.

I don\'t really like the prison idea. The heft fine is okay. But what if your fine is so high you can\'t get any money for a few months?

Then that means you (not YOU particularly) should stop being an online-moron (assuming that spammers, flamers, and all-around jerks are the ones who are targeted by the heft fine :D ).

Digging is very hard, even in a single-player game.
Thanks a lot Venge...

They should make digging like the old zelda for super nintendo. you can only dig a certain depth and there could be common to rare items in there, also the holes disapear after a while

Thats an idea, as you leveled the skill, your holes would stay longer, depending on how long you wanted them to, kinda like a druid thing. Certain depths would be a given also, I think that it would be helpful to dwarves/miners who are down in the shafts, digging through an area could lead you do a whole new shaft, where there would be better minerals.
