... a crazy idea about characters becoming monsters.

That's not quite the same as players taking control of monster characters. And I am well aware that this is not doable without some heavy feature requests. Its just to add something to discuss, regardless to how far it is from being useful at this moment.

I'm sorry, I was a bit harsh. I just don't like the idea at all.

Last time I fought at this event, I hired a warrior-priest, one Ezus, as my personal bodyguard. This turned out to be not such a good idea, for the moment the ref said go, instead of fighting, he knelt down and prayed... not what I had expected, and, as usual, I didn't last long. However, this has given me an idea, so:

WANTED  10,000 Priests, Must be able to pray very fast!!  Your task will be, at the next Champion's Cup, as soon as the ref says "GO" to kneel down (in the spectators gallery) and start praying, quick as you can, for a famous victory by yours truely. By this means, I hope to secure a famous victory.Pay negotiable,

Fighting events are rubbish if they are not fair.I am tired of going to tournaments full of addicts with maxed stats who play this game since 0.1 and know all the tricks.
A newbie cup, leagues or we have a private game  for people with maxed stats.
There are already enough aspects that are frustrating for newbies do not make fighting one of those. :@#\

The Way of The Hammer won this month, in a short but chaotic battle against a limited number of opponents.

Who will take up the challenge next time?

The daring ladies of Elemental Light prevailed against a formidable contingent from Way of the Hammer and a brave menki, Hromdair from Order of the Ways (hope I didn't miss anyone) to take possession of the Cup for this month!  Thanks to Kaipaber for being there and a salute to the combatants.

Until the next battle...

The Way of the Hammer were not even contested for the Champions Cup this month.  As such the cup remains in our possession.

Accordingly, having won the cup several months in a row, I declare the hammers to be All Time Champions* and announce our retirement from the contest.

The cup will be brought to the arena at the usual time next month in the hope that at least two new teams will stand forth to contend for the title.

If not, we will either retain the cup or return it to the warriors guild as occasion demands.

*Cat among the pigeons? me?  (and the retirement may or may not be permanent either  ;D  )

In seriousness, there is an imbalance in the battles which deters new entrants and interest in general has seriously waned.
Perhaps it is time the cup was retired or at least reborn into a new contest.
Ideas anyone?

A much better attendance at the Tournament this month with entrants from:-
The Crystal Weavers
Elemental Light
Order of Light
The One
The Family

After heavy fighting, the field was whittled down to Sanrai Monarth, Bonifarzia Borunthar and Hirene Penifur.
Intense magical combat led to the fall of Sanrai, leaving Bonifarzia and Hirene to fight it out for the title.

After a good session of spell slinging ( and some axe work by Bonifarzia)  Hirene emerged triumphant , to take the cup for The Family...  until the next tournament.

Thank you everyone who took part and came to watch.    \\o//

* Mishka huffs and promises not to enter the Cup ever again until magic is supressed and the combatants show their prowess with weapons as it should have been from the start

* MishkaL1138 concurs with his char, nodding sagely

Sanrai harrumphs a bit re Mishka's huffs.

This must suprise you "duelers", but we "mages" can be defeated. Sorry you didn't stay, Mishka  ;)
We all have our way of dueling ... and let my trip to the DR show that there are many ways, not always successful. Next time I will concentrate....  ;D

we "mages" can be defeated.

Yes, but unfortunately, only by other "mages". It seems that mediocre armor skills are sufficient to become perfectly invulnerable against physical attacks with high quality armor. The magic resistances don't help the fighters, they just give an advantage to those who are proficient in many ways of magic. But anyways, I will stubbornly attend to see if again I can catch somebody off guard.

Kaipaber here. Given the current heavy unbalancement between mages and fighters, I would try, next month, to ban magic from the tournament and see what it comes [mind that the tournament was designed not to have rules, so this is just temporary]. Also, I would very much like do ban food and potions as they make the fight potentially infinite. The problem with this, though, is that for a single referee is impossible to check everyone's health, so it would all come to the honesty of the participants (unless a GM can help with this). Any input is much appreciated.

I don't think that disallowing magic and food helps with the problem that the armor renders you invulnerable (unless you change to a stance that more or less disables it). However it could help to disallow wearing armor (and probably also bows then). Then the weapon damage is high enough to keep up with the superior range of magic and to make healing with food less reliable. Should be much easier to monitor than food usage.

Had no idea that armors became that strong - probably because I've never worn a crafted one  :sweatdrop:
I really like Boni's idea, so next month I'd try it. Hopefully the Cup will get more fun to play, and attract as many people as it used to!

I can't even watch them because my client is held together pretty much by hope, so that much magic at once would freeze me! Less magic would mean those with less stable clients could attend or watch.
