paranormal/supernatural/ZOMG experiences!
« on: May 15, 2010, 08:33:50 am »
all right, two years ago i had a strange experience....

one day i injured my leg at a camp (not the camp specifically, i crashed mountain biking). my bandages began to leak so i went to clean up at a toilet. i was done, was about to exit through a stubborn door when it just swung open, and i hadn't even touched it. the camp has a history of being haunted, and there wasn't any draft or wind or anything, and those wouldn't be powerful enough to open that door anyway. i figured it could've been someone opening another door, but no one else was around. who knows. it's probably something explainable.

not impressive, i know. i was hoping to have a real paranormal experience when i was younger at some london dungeon kiddy thing (or something other i can't remember). didn't happen.  ;D

k, now share yours

The door swinging open could have been at an angle that gravity could push it. re-reading your post I have to say that two-years ago must have been the year of weirdness, because that is when I saw something freaky.

So my experiences with the paranormal...I guess I'll share the freakiest one of all.

So it was about 2:00 in the morning during spring break two years back. I was home alone and I figured I would stay up late watching classic movies on tcm. This particular movie was "South pacific". So I got really bored watching that move and decided to take a walk outside. It was quite dark outside, and the only light there was came from the next-door neighbors back yard. Now this light was near their shed, which is far behind their house. The dog was barking, and a shadow sprawled across the entirety of my backyard. I look up to see two glowing red eyes looking down at their dog. When I yelled "What the f*ck!" this thing looked right at me, stood up to show that it was about six feet tall, and vanished into thin air. I ran back inside. 'Twas a close heart attack.

Now I'm skeptical and optimistic about things, so I'm willing to say that could have been an owl, but everybody I've told this to says that must have been "the mothman". I only believe in ghosts because I have plenty of weird experiences with seeing apparitions, but the mothman sounds like one of those things a crazy redneck would holler about. Anyways, that experience has caused me to have great interest in the paranormal, and crypto-zoology, so now I put something along that line into each novel I write. Guess weird things rub off on my arts.

Heard this a million times. You probably haven't seen anything paranormal. Perhaps this calls for a BATE! http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=37328.0

I have been over this before; read the fruits of our thoughts, even if it's spread throughout the thread.

i don't believe in the paranormal. i've heard a lot of weird things, though, and want explanations.

my father and his friend were driving in the middle of nowhere, in the northeast usa, during morning or evening twilight. this huge dark man-bird suddenly appeared in front of the car, and it might have had wings that were about as wide as the road. it looked up and it had bright, glowing yellow or red eyes. my father's friend didn't have time to react and it rolled over the car and just disappeared. they don't know what it was. lol. could've been mothman!

i haven't seen anything that weird, but a couple weeks ago i kept imagining there was this man behind me. and then i would begin hallucinating a bunch of eyes. bet it was tool's music videos X-/

oh ya, and zak from ghost adventures is a bamf haha

I think the freakiest thing that ever happened to me was a radio staying on a smidge too long after I unplugged it and took out the battery. There's probably a scientific explanation for it, though. Everything else I've been spooked by has just been the natural tendency to see patterns of familiar images in things...stuff in the dark looking like faces or big cats (cougar yearlings occasionally attack people in my neck a' the woods) or whatever.

At a party this guy called a girl a slut and she threw a cup full of some drink on his back. Later they made out.

Aw, heck. You got me psyched, so have to tell my story now :p

About 10-12 years ago (age 8-10) we were at my great uncle (my mom's uncle). His wife, my great aunt, was a bit edgy to say the least. Didn't want to travel anywhere, didn't really like my mom or grandfather much and didn't enjoy company from out of town.
She died about 2 years prior to this visit. We stayed there for the night and my great uncle tells this story about how they always were talking about being together in spirit and that the first to die would watch over the other person.
So then he says that he sometimes likes to talk to her likes she's there, for the comfort of not feeling alone at times. And just two-three months before he was washing the staircase and said "Well, you haven't really spoken much back since I started this, dear."
Right in that moment the orb sitting on the end of the railing falls down not 2 inches from his head and makes a dent in the floor. It had been sitting on that railing since the house was built over 50 years earlier, never fallen off before.

Of course, being a kid your imagination sometimes get the upper hand. I'm lying in the guestroom on the second floor reading with my head towards the door. All of a sudden I feel the urge to look out into the hall.
And there my great aunt walks by the door and straight through a locked door. I rush down to my parents and great uncle, scared out of my mind. Of course they say it's imagination and all that. And I'd agree except even though your mind plays tricks sometimes, you can still tell the difference when it's in your head and actually there. And it doesn't stop there. The next time we go there, the same happens. Only this time it's my dad who sees her walking the other way and vanishing at the bottom of the stairs.

In the middle of the night, my mother suddenly wakes up and can't breathe. She feels she's being strangled and has to go outside before the feeling goes away and she can breathe normally again. Never to this day has she ever had acute sleep apnea except for the two times we've stayed there, and it's only happened in the middle of the night. No allergic reactions during the day or anything similar.

All this I'm sure can be explained by something. It has to, right? Now here's the big finale:
My great uncle decides to come visit us for a while in the summer after. Since his wife didn't like going on trips of any kind etc. He hasn't been around much so he thinks it will do him good.
In our house we have a longcase clock (or granddaughter clock if you will, seeing as it is smaller than 1,5 meters long) hanging on the wall. My parents got it some time in the 70's and it has been running smoothly from the day they got it. Until my great uncle steps into the house. The clock simply stops, right then and there. Nothing we did got the clock going, so we figured it must be broken. He stays with us for 2-3 weeks, everything is fine. The day he leaves, the minute he left to go home again, the clock starts ticking.

I have not set foot on the second floor of that house since those two times we stayed over, my parents haven't either. We visit when we are close to the town he lives in, but we don't spend the night. I'm not making this up, even though it might seem like overkill of a scary campfire story.

Koios, that is freaky, and sounds like your aunt was just watching over your uncle being nice and what-not, until I see that your mom was being choked via phantom. Freaky stuff.  :-\

Sounds like a skew version of this myth: https://www.washington.edu/burkemuseum/spidermyth/myths/whileyousleep.html
