Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid lynx Segmentation fault

Planeshift gives me a Segmentation fault error when I attempt to launch it.


Running Kubuntu 10:04 Lucid Lynx 32 bit
Nvidia Geforce 9400 GT 512 ram Driver version 195.36.15
AMD Athlon 64x2
3gb DDR2 ram

Here's where I'm at:

  • Downloaded planeshift via torrent
  • Ran: Chmod 777 PlaneShift-v0.5.3-x86.bin
  • Ran: sudo ./PlaneShift-v0.5.3-x86.bin
  • installer ran fine got the splash screen and the config.
  • downloaded libopenal1_1.8.466-2_i386.deb Extracted, renamed  libopenal.so.1.8.466 to libopenal.so.1 and copied it to /opt/Planeshift/libs

Running planeshift from the terminal gives the following output

looks like openal is stil not working disable it from the configuration file ~/.Planeshift/planeshift.cfg search openal replace with null

Hi weltall, thanks for replying, the only file i have in ~/.Planeshift/ is updaterinfo.xml

then it crashes because of that run pslaunch to save the config.

Please try removing/renaming /opt/PlaneShift/libs/libX11.so.6 and if that works for youe also try removing the openal file above.

Renaming /opt/PlaneShift/libs/libX11.so.6 seems to have resolved the issue. Thank you very much for your help.

Does that work in general for the openal-crashes? That'd be easy enough to make it the standard way to solve it until the next release.
