Can't see ground on path btwn Hydlaa and Ojaveda
« on: June 18, 2010, 07:01:32 pm »
I'm a newbie, so I don't know if this area has a name, but I was trying to travel from Hydlaa to Ojaveda and found that part of the path between the two was not loading. I've tried navigating across the space anyway (I can still walk on it even though I can see anything), but I've only succeeded in making it far enough to where I can see the exit and then walking off an invisible cliff and falling to my death.

Here's a picture of where it begins
On the path. I can see some scenery objects, but no ground

I play on an Intel Mac running 10.4.11. When I open the game it says I'm playing version 0.5.4. I've opened the launcher and fixed all the files I was missing and I've messed around with my settings trying to cut down on choppiness and whatnot, but nothing seems to make the ground reappear.

When I open Arcane Chrysalis I get these messages on the load screen. Might they be contributing to the problem? I'm not sure, but I don't know know how/where to get those items.

I suppose you're on an intel graphics card?

the issue is that your graphics driver cannot handle some shaders properly, so heightfields won't be shaded properly.
therefore you won't see the ground on maps using that feature (namely: ojaroad, bdroad, area around gugrontid).

I've acquired a few bigger problems now, but this one is still concerns me. Thanks for the reply, by the way!

I guess that would be the case. Can you even change the graphics card on a Mac? I don't think you can. That kind of sucks... I've managed to find my way around without the ground, but it would still be nice to see it.

And will this issue be fixed to accommodate those with intel graphics cards? Obviously a lot of players have this same issue, me being one of them, and therefore it can't simply be solved by everyone getting a new one just for this game. This has never happened in the previous versions of the game.

unfortunately no if it's a macbook/macbook pro as the card is directly solded in the mother board and the computer has no MXM slots.
Rlydontknow is working on it i think but still you've to understand that intel graphic cards aren't designed for games and so no devs has one, almost.

Maybe once I upgrade I could send them mine.  ;D

P.S. My character uses the excuse that she has allergies when outside of cities and needs a seeing eye dog to get around. Many new friends have been very accommodating in that regard.
