Game crashing before login page.

Okay, so I've been working on this problem for a few hours now, and it's really getting frustrating.

So, I installed the game, 0.5.4, opened the game, blank screen and crash.  So I downloaded the C++ thing, and that fixed the crash problem, but not the black screen.  I looked around, seems my ATI Radion X1400 driver was acting up, so I smacked it out of my computer for a third party one, and that fixed the black screen, I could see the launcher.

So I tryed updating...and it froze.  So, another browse of the forums later, running it in --console mode got it updated.  The game itself launched, the loading bar was running, the loading bar hit 100%...and the game crashed.  This now happens /every/ time...  I saw someone on the forum who had a similar problem, but if i remember correctly no solution was posted...he had a problem with the shaders i think someone said, but I checked to make sure the setting that crashs ATI cards is off already (tryed it both ways).

General troubleshooting stuff done for this problem
-Fullscreen on/off
-reinstalled game (4 times)
-VBO on/off
-All graphics set to lowest/medium/high
-All graphics settings toggeled individually
-Sound enabled/disabled
-ran -verbose, did nothing
-ran just psclient.exe, same problem

For the technical stuff.....

Operating System:  Windows XP SP3
Processor:  Intel T2400 Dual 1.83 Ghz (Tryed normal and overclocked, prefer not to overclock)
Graphics Card:  ATI Radeon Mobility X1400
System Memory:  2 GB (actually a little higher, edited the swap file.  Yes, I tryed it without that change.)
Video Memory:  256 MB

I'd really like to get this game up and running...I've been wanting to try this game for a while.  It reminds me of the old days of Ultima Online and MUDing about...if anyone can help me get this game working, I'd be very appreciative.

Wow, good testing so far. A thing that can help is if you could paste the console output, that --verbose gave you. Just paste it here

That's the weird thing, I ran it ["C:\Program Files\PlaneShift\psclient.exe" --verbose] and ["C:\Program Files\PlaneShift\pslaunch.exe" --verbose] (brackets to donate shortcut target), and a console never came up...it just ran as normal.  So I ran ["C:\Program Files\PlaneShift\psclient.exe" --console], and copied the results after the crash report, before it closes.

Looks for me like a "pslaunch.exe --repair" can help. But maybe someone who knows better will reply soon :)
