Gambling
« on: July 08, 2010, 07:41:41 am »
The idea of having gambling in this game occured to me.  There would be no actual in game physical effect but there could be some sort of council that would take bets on some sort of event like
-duel
-arena fighting
-other things

then using odds like a horse racetrack they would return the money.  Of course there would have to be public interest which is why this topic exists.  Ideas? Comments?

Eurac ran the House of Games and more or less took on the gambling side of things. Aside from friends getting together and gambling over dice in private games.

Not that I know of. If it isn't it's not as active as it used to be, but I do still see Eurac from time to time.

It seems no game mechanics are required for gambling to exists. The /roll command gives one fair and open dice. Bets could be taken or made between any characters and pay off made. New code or objects do not seem to be required.

Your idea sounds like a great RP aspect for the Crown and other such title fights.

P.S. Of course you would need a deep pocket to cover the bets.  ;)

I think one of Eurac's earlier colleagues - Azeral - took over the activities in the House of Games (at least for some time). But not sure how much they are still present.

Yeah I was thinking that it would be a blast to get involved with because its based solely on rp and can still make you money.  As a newer player its nice cuz it also doesnt require stats

Kaisa was a gambler. She carried around a deck of cards for a game called "Crystal Facets".

This was a game that the player invented using a series of books - one per card .. actually, I think maps were used instead so that the cards could have pictures ... not a clear recollection.. anyhow, much can be done with a little creativity.

Eurac and Azeral did things for the house of games for a while until hardly anybody was gambling anymore due to the low player count.

Would like to see some gambling revival.

And against the law? Uhm ... in contrast to Darven, Eurac will have a license, right?

Gambling is not against the law I'm sure, but extortion is. If not it should be.
