WANTED - Priest of Dakkru to preside over The Champion's Cup

* * * * *

It has been agreed by the organisers of The Champion's Cup that a priest is needed to bless the brave warriors before they go to battle, and to ensure they have a speedy return from the Death Realm.

A very special person therefore is needed who is devoted to Dakkru and who has a winning way with words.

All applicants, please contact either Heleckie or Xitop in game.

Sgd: Heleckie Volaur,
Guild Ambassador and Councillor
<Diamond Claw>

PS Priests who are also good cooks will be given preference.  Medical skills will also be an advantage.

A Dakkru priest with medical skills? Sounds a bit... confusing.

I don't think that everybody should or will return from the Death Realm with quickness. It is supposed to be big and hard to get out of. Though I do bow to you for trying to get religion involved in a mechanic-based event, and I hope that you do find a Dakkru priest. That needs to happen more often.

  Thank you for your observations, it would appear that information regarding the rp aspects of the event that appears in previous announcements and rules has been accidently ommitted from  Heleckie's post.... Ritual and roleplay has always been there,  in the form of the recommended last meal with friends, and the  ritual cleansing before combat. it's just that the participants have shown themselves more eager to get  to the event's kernel, rather than the preliminaries.
As for  the comment previously, that  Dakkru and medical help don't mix..  Of course we all believe in Dakkru.. but just in case, no harm in hedging our bets!!!!

I don't see in any way how my comment was ungracious. Though it is a bit silly to request a Dakkru priest with cooking skills and medical skills. I thought that she meant that she wanted a priest that will ensure those who die in the event have less of a rough time in the death realm. When it comes to me reading the rules of the Champion's Cup, I never read in Heleckie's rules:

These are the RULES for the battle event to be known henceforth as:

                                                                                "THE CHAMPION'S CUP"

THE following will be allowed:-

*  Magic
*  Enchanted Weapons
*  All Potions
*  Hiring of assassins, mercenaries and
   bodyguards
*  Inter-guild treaties, together with any
   other available strategy or tactic imagin-
   able that will ensure the victory of your
   guild, so long as they occur within the
   confines of the chosen battle area....

ALL combatants must be in the combat zone 15 minutes before the battle begins so that enemies can be targeted, tactics finalised and deals made.

Mounts will not be allowed as this is considered to be cruelty to animals.

                     * * * * *

                                                                                      ENTRY is FREE to ALL

WHY not hire yourself out to the richest guild as sword/axe fodder?

                                                                                                 * * * * *

ON the day of the battle - at the chosen location - "The Champion's Cup" will be placed on the earth for all to see.  At a given signal, combat will start.  When members of only one guild remain, the Champion's Cup willl be unguarded and taken by the victors.  Their guild name will be inscribed into the Book of Honour.

AFTER one month the Champion's Cup will be placed once more into the area of combat and battle will recommence.

KEEP your weapons sharp and your brain sharper.

MAY the radiance of your God protect you.

Go in peace.

                                                                                                   * * * * *

[** No re-logging willl be tolerated once the battle has commenced.

To be held on the first Saturday of every month at 21:00 GMT in the Dlayo pit of he Arena, commencing in May.
Winners must surrender the cup to the match referee at the end of their month]

                                                                                                    * * * * *

that priests had anything to do with the event. She never mentioned it for the entirety of the rest of that thread.

There is also a factor that goes against "we all believe in Dakkru" because there are Athiest characters in the game. Aside from that odd bunch, yeah, most people believe in Dakkru. That doesn't mean that they all pray to Dakkru. If a priest of Dakkru was going to pray to Dakkru that she should literally help the characters get through the death realm, and Dakkru does so, then yes I can see the point. The problem being is that Dakkru is not a merciful goddess. I think that anybody that enters a competition when they know they will most likely be killed should say goodbye to their friends and family for a long time, because the death realm is no short trip. We could argue about this but that has already happened in this thread:  http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=37545.30

Anyways, like Heleckie said:

Grimal,
Having given your application several minutes of serious consideration, I will grant you an ingame interview to discuss what services you can provide for the Champion's Cup.  Please bring all your priestly regalia with you and a formal written application for this position.  Give me or Xitop a "tell" when you see me on.   :-\

Hi, I'm Esorono and I would like to apply for the job of being the priest if not too late. I'm not an expert at medicine but I can handle most problems that happens from a sword wound. I know a decent amount of information of her and her realm and have been a Dakkru follower almost the first week I arrived in Hydlaa.

Well... you are a little late as I believe Grimul has been given the job.  But, if you think you can do it better, then my council might reconsider.

What sort of credentials will you bring to this task and why do you think you will make a better priest of Dakkru than Grimul (who, by the way, is quite charming in a quirky kind of way)?

I do believe I could do a better job than Grimul at being the priest. I am fairly close to the goddess, I even have the marks on my wings that I'm sure everyone has seen thanks to one of her books. I also know Dakkru's realm very well and able to find the way out no matter where placed where Grimal hasn't even been to the realm. Sure I may not be as quirky, but being a priest to the goddess of death is serious as she is not the most forgiving goddess out there. We can talk more in private if you need to ask more.
