It is not specifically made to exclude technically less experienced players. But it has a certain demand on character and maturity, and - being in a still rather early development stage - probably can't keep players very long which are impatient and quickly annoyed by technical issues now and then: Our team is rather small and not paid for their work in their leisure time only, so fixes can not be guaranteed during 24h.

Always been the "geek" of the town. The only real person in my town to not really want to be a part of sports, yet the entire town praises the school sports 100%. The definition of geek changes, but remember that the geeks will rule the world with technical prowess (>=3). Anyways, with that aside, you'll find a lot of PLAYERS being in character on the IC server, so you may never know if a player is a geek/need or not. Just because a person knows computer specs doesn't make them a geek or nerd. Roleplaying may be a "nerd" thing, but heck, some people just want to become a different person to escape it all.

Roleplaying is not for geeks or nerds only... I have to say I'm a little geek myself (since I use linux) but I practice a lot of sports and have a good social life. Roleplaying is fun, PlaneShift is really different from the real world, so it's amusing to live in a world like that :p

Even regarding roleplaying ... there might be "roleplaying geeks/nerds" too. But hardly the majority. There are just as many "casual roleplayers" and "roleplaying beginners".

Roleplaying is not enforced, it is encouraged - on one of the two servers. On this one server, behaviour breaking the in-character impression is "discouraged" up to "not allowed" (which is e.g. "leetspeak" in the main chat). But loose behaviour is still not impossible, there are guild, group, and gossip channels available too.

I am not a real geek.  I am a sports geek and a sports nerd but I also play a lot of sports.  I just like rp too.

Geeks may be called geeks by some, but one day they will have something better in front of their name like dr. or being called boss. Then those people will have to say dr. rather than geek.

Roleplaying in general isn't just for "geeks", but I'll keep it PG-13 and say no more.
