Game Freezes and Can't Update

As soon as I run the PS client, the game loads okay, then it freezes on the image for awhile. Once it gets to the login page, I'm hit with extreme lag and freezing. I can't click or type anything in because of the freezing. I tried changing the graphics and still no such luck.

I also am not able to update my PS game because it says I need to update on an admit account. However, my account IS the admin account. I don't know if failure to update is causing the problem or not, but any help regarding updating or at least getting past the login screen would be helpful.

Use /applications/utilities/console and pay attention to any system messages that come up when the application is running. Remember that just because it is the admin user that does not guarantee that PS is running as that account as well. There is a sticky relating to Mac problems that is more useful than my reply.

Move the Planeshift game folder from the DMG file you downloaded into your applications folder. Then run the game from the applications folder. This tends to be the problem when you can't update due to lack of permissions.

Is that the entire PS folder? I can't find a DMG file.

The dmg file is what you downloaded. It should appear in your finder window looking like a harddrive under your devices listing. When you open it there should be a file that says planeshift. move the whole file to your applications folder. After you have moved it open the planeshift folder in your applications file and run the game from there.
