Hey, what about me?
« on: May 18, 2003, 02:32:20 am »
Hello there, my name is Vidar Rapp (18yrs, Sweden).
Im seriously intrested in joining the PlaneShift Team, mainly as a modeler (and perhaps as an animator).
Since I don\'t have a job right now, I have a lot of spare time that I need to fill. :D

Well, that\'s enough talking for now, here\'s some samples of my work. :)

lowpoly> young elf:

landscape> desert base:

highpoly> face (based on lucy lui ):

animation dummy> megaman inspired robot:

other> Ducatio mh-900-e:

Well, that\'s it for now. Comment on this, tell me what you like and what you wan\'t to see from me.

Peace//Vidar

Those don\'t look half bad, I like the rendered elves, and I like the desert landscape. I noticed you used some tricky lighting on the motorcycle picture to enhance the colors since your backround is white.

I\'m not a Dev so my opinion won\'t matter as much, but I\'m sure they could use another 3D Modeler.
My name is NOT pronounced, \"Kway-per,\" it\'s pronounced \"Kye-per.\"

Yes, those look very nice.  I suggest that you also email boonet at bboonneett@yahoo.com so he knows about you.

Hopefully he will be able to offer some words and get a good idea of your style and see if it fits in well with our ideas.

great work!!! but i\'m not quite sure about your style ...it seems too cartoon-ish  ...but i\'m sure you can do it even more gracefully and real-like :]
i mean, the elf-child looks great!!! but i\'d like to see an adult too

actually you inspired an idea in me (maybe it was proposed before)!!!
what if noobies (let say until they gain a certain \"level of experiece\") are children, but later on they become adults
...maybe there would be more stages like:
-child
-adolescens
-adult
-elder
....it wouldn\'t change your abilites (an elder could still be strong!), it would just show your level of abilites and \"experience\" on the outside ...i\'d REALLY enjoy that

...for that cause your elf-child looks great :]

separated my idea here

Really nice work indeed.
But that elf doesn\'t resemble the Tolkien style elf for me, surely. It is nice, but it looks more like a sprite or gnome (don\'t attack me - that\'s what the HUN-ENG dictionary gave for \"man?\" )

IT IS fantastic work, but it is not Tolkien\'s elf - I\'m just defending the original elves ;)

Well, I like your style, but as hook said, it\'s a little too cartoony for this game. It looks like it was made for a console-game (I love console-games so this is not meant to be offensive).
It\'s almost a little bit anim? over it. I like it a lot

BTW. M?ste s?ga att jag ?r imponerad  :)

Hey guys, guess what??

these were samples of his work, not contributions to the game, they don\'t have to be something appropriate to PS, he could have put up 3d pokemon critters, as long as he designed them himself.

he\'s showing his skills, which I have to say, as much as I\'ve gamed, those look pretty good, and would draw me into a game

Johnny Depp\'s a poser to the throne. No one will ever play the part as well as Gene Wilder

Lovely lovely... I especially like the derelict hilltop town thing that would look great in the game, as long as it wasn\'t visible from the current town (think of the property prices!). By the way, do you have a portfolio or something, because I want a big version of that robot guy to use as my wallpaper :P

yeah, and I wish I were part of the PS dev team. ;( I applied a few days ago...  oh well, as long as I haven\'t gotten a \"no\", I won\'t need a valium.  j/k, I understand that PS wants the elite of the elite (well, ya know, in the open-source world).  I wouldn\'t be surprised to get a \"no\"...

beautiful models, BTW.

considering sysop only posted 1 message, I\'m guessing the person has left.  I wanted to ask what modeling software he used.  can anyone recommend something open-source?  I haven\'t even tried the free version of Maya, \'cause they aren\'t open-source, so they\'ll eventually go extinct anyway.  ;-)  If CS comes with an editor, can someone tell me how to get into it?  CS only comes with a billion executible binaries...
