Kadaikos as a starting area?
« on: August 29, 2010, 01:13:37 pm »
Imagine Kadaikos as a starting area for the Blackflame followers with its own quests and NPCs. Imagine it would have a similar atmosphere to this:

Would probably happen "not really soon™" - Kadaikos is not implemented as map yet, and all I can read in the official Settings documents (mainly the Player Guide - History chapter), is that this town has been forgotten by quite all citizen of Yliakum.

But first we still hope for spawns being diversified again according to the races, to start Kran in Gugrontid and Enkidukai in Ojaveda again, and Klyros in Amdeneir probably. I am curious when the requirement of "enough players" will be met again...

I think that it should be a dark and decrepit town atmosphere wise, but that picture just seems to overdo it for a blackflame town. No to that look, and no to that being a starting area. People aren't born blackflame, they have to convert or submit themselves to it. The only way this could or should be made as a starting area is if the player creates a character history and profile and gets it approved by a GM or member of the settings team.

Did you start your char as toddler? ... Look, Elvi got his diapers full! ;)

I believe we can assume toddlers as innocent. Religions are a matter of education.

That looks cool, but not sure what I had in mind for Kadaikos: a ruined place of some sort with Lemur architecture.

Not sure religion should be taken into consideration for character spawn. This because most characters are aligned to one religion and so race spawning would become rare.
Disclaimer: This is my opinion and I can be reasoned with. I'm probably right, though.

I think Black flame needs to be bigger to the point where it seems to be an unstoppable monster

The picture posted above is completely unrelated to Black Flame or Kadaikos.

And it is probably not even a really matching suggestion. But only very few developers really know the Black Flame settings. Me not even halfway.

Doesn't mean it is a monster... It could be the main source of light, the sun for example. But it is a fair idea. Not the actual thing of course.

It looks pretty good I just think some things will need changes to it.

Heh. Why would blackflame people start in their own area when they are supposed to be hidden among the rest of the population, assuming the roles of normal citizens and faking the worship of the other gods? Not to mention that spawn points are not religion based, as well as Kadaikos being several weeks' (or even months) journey away from the Bronze doors if you know the way.

Also, Kadaikos is not some hellish place infested by evil blackflame followers. It is a 'normal' place filled with good people who are likely still being lead to believe that the black flame is a true god and savior. Remember, blackflame is not about evil and converting everything in its path to evil. It is a means to an end, even if those means are sometimes good and just things that make people's lives better.

Then again, everything about it could have been rewritten since I passed through. Which reminds me, are my books still in the BF library? I have not been in the game to check.
