These are simply sacks of adipose tissue, good for storing lipids. The similarity with mammals it's a perfect example of evolutionary convergence.

Mk, so i love playing with anime stylings, and I've got a new victim to sketch  X-/ This is just a quick head-shot sketch, and I'll probably go back to my other style to draw some more, but this just begged to come out of my pencil :D
