Gender specific guild titles
« on: September 21, 2010, 03:12:11 pm »
Disclaimer: To my understanding this has not been implemented yet. If it has please except my apologies.

It would be nice to have gender specific guild titles. With the case in mind, it would be nice to have the same rank name appear as Priest for males, Priestess for females and Priestkra for Kran.

Warrior, Warrioress and Warriorkra also come to mind.

Nice idea! But there could be problems to this, KIC has all teir ranks in Enkien, Dhavathu Thilha is Young Person so what happens...? Will it automatically make it Dhavathu Thilhaess? Or would the Leader be able to manually tick which rank will take effect. Also ess/kra may not be Enkien either. Kra is Okranor but that is translated to Kran Person. So, it could have its difficulties.
You maybe roleplaying but you could still be OOC.

you wouldnt call a person, a warrioress or warriorkra, if a person is a fighter, and trying to master the arts of combat, they are just a warrior regardless of gender.

... would the Leader be able to manually tick which rank will take effect.

My idea was not to force gender specific names on the guild but only if the Guild Leader(s) wanted that option. The Guild Leader(s) should be able to supply the appropriate names with regards to the gender. To my understanding there are three gender on PS; he, she and kra.

So they would click on the option that a particular rank was gender specific and then fill in what the three different gender names should be. If that check box was not engaged then the one rank name would be used on all genders at that rank.

you wouldnt call a person, a warrioress or warriorkra, if a person is a fighter, and trying to master the arts of combat, they are just a warrior regardless of gender.

Well that should be up to the Guild Leader(s) of the respective Guild(s) to decide. My concern was only with regard to Priest/Priestess. The Warrior/Warrioress was simply given as another possible example.

I am Elkarway and I support this message.  You could just have three "titles" per rank, one for each gender and be able to enter whatever you want in them.

For instance Priest/Priestess/Priestkra

or even

Gigolo/Escort/Unemployed

Oh silly unattractive Kran... :P

IF it's done, AT LEAST it should be done correctly, and that is, allow to manually set titles for different genders. Things like Masteress, Wizardess or Apprenticeess aren't words. We already have "Longsword of Seductions", we don't need the same mistake a second time.

Indeed. The wish is meant to empower guilds in their naming, according to gender, not to enforce a name on them.

Not talking about a guild rank, guilds rankk the ranks for whatever reason that should fit the guild.
Being a warrior is just as much a freelancing job as it is a guild title, a person who is guildless that is adept in the ways of comnat is considered a warrior, regardless of gender, and it should be the same with any guild title as well

Seems Webster's has heard of the title Warrioress. You might want to take it up with them.

Most of your posts seem to be nitpicking and complaining for no reason.  Some titles have a male and female form, regardless of what you might think.  For instance, titles of nobility.  Now if you have any rational complaints, please, bring them forth.

I've always wondered: You say Mr. Jhonnyson or Mrs. Jhonnyson, then what would a kran couple be if kran marriages were to be allowed? There is no Mr or Mrs because kran are genderless regardless of what you as the player thinks. So if a kran had a last name and two kran were to share the same last name, you would have two Gemma Jhonnyson's, which could get confusing.

*sorry its late and I'm sure this makes no sense at all. Just ramblings.
